My favourite recipe has remained the same all my life, taught to me by my Uncle George. Don't fillet the trout - just gut it and scale it. Remove the head and tail if you want. Roll the trout in flour but don't pack the gut cavity with flour. Salt and pepper the gut cavity. Put some butter in the gut cavity and a couple thin slices of lemon. A little onion too if you want. Wrap in tin foil and bake. That's it. Works at home in the oven or in camp on a campfire. The meat separates easily from the bones like you show in your video so the bones are never a big deal. As far as I'm concerned filleting and skinning smaller trout is a waste of time, plus the bones add flavour to the cooked product.
Alright! I literally just stopped this video in shock watching you filet that trout like that!!! I am.... flabbergasted!!! ❤❤❤ I am, 💯 stoked to try that myself now! Werd!!!!
That is some of the most beautiful country your in. It is nice to see the wide open spaces I live on the eastcoast and it is cluttered with houses and buildings.
Really enjoy your videos. I've watched all of them some two or three times . You remind me so much of my grandson . He loves to hunt deer and turkeys and fish. I have a 3 acre pond and he comes out and catches a mess of blueguill and bass then cleans and cooks them. Enjoying and appreciating the outdoors makes good people in our world . Good job young man !
Another good video! Love the catch and cook! You’re good at cleaning those trout - You make it look easy! Most of us take a break from other things and go fishing! You’re lucky! You’re taking a break from fishing and doing other things! 🎣🎣🎣
I hear you on this week being hard for fishing. I normally catch 6 to 8 trout in 1 to 2 hours but yesterday I only caught two browns and today I went for over 2 hours and didn't even get a single bite. PS thanks for the video it keeps me motivated to get back out there.
Very enjoyable video, and beautiful fish. You did seem a bit personally peeved this time, but at least you got to take out your frustrations on the trout lol. I hope you do a Bad Traffic Day catch and cook sometime... I hear Long Pig is shockingly tasty. Thanks, and please keep 'em coming, your videos are very good.
Love your trout fishing vids. But I’m wondering if you could do some pike/ Muskie or wallaye maybye even some smallmouth fishing. Ik you have in the past and I think there great vids! Tight lines
Been watching some vids of yours, let me tell you chief, refreshing! Your one of the few that's in it for the love of the chase , in your vids what state you in ?.
C'mon does it get any better then off-shore fishing and then cook it right up right after oh my 🎣 It will be another month before we can do that around here ! Thanks for sharing !
My name is James, I'm from Indiana and I wish we had ponds around here with trout in them. But unfortunately the fishing isn't very good around here. I have to go to the smokey mountains just to catch rainbow trout
I’m nowhere near the ocean so there’s not a lot of salmon around here. We do have Kokanee salmon which is just a landlocked sockeye. So I might try for some of those!
I've eaten a lot of trout and with the skin on . Although I prefer to have it skinless ! The dang fish tasted better ! You don't eat beef with the skin on or deer or moose so if you do I'll not judge you so don't judge me ! Thumbs-up on the catch and cook !
Maybe the way you like to cook trout needs to be skinned, but fried trout, crispy skin and tail is delicious. I always fry my trout, crispy skin, eat the crunchy tail, the I can pit into any dish I want. I will skin a catfish, or trigger ect. Because it needs it but not trout. I don't eat the skin on Salmon but I do on Dolly vartin.
You get that a lot when they are freshly stocked - swipe and move away. Where your spinners or kastmasters come into play - chuck and wind - set the hook but don't jerk to give others a chance. Fun - but yes frustrating with hits and misses
What’s funny is when ever I throw spinners or spoons here, I barely get any follows. I’ve noticed when there’s a lot of snails and crawdads in a lake, jigs work the best hands down!
Nice - BTW your Rapala minnow lures called me asking that you show them some love. Husky Jerk 6 or 8 where you can twitch and let it sit to fish slower
@Bass'N'Trout there's a billion other epic ways to make some fancy as can be trout, but that's usually our go to especially for multi day backpacking trips. Quick easy. Delicious!! Love the channel man!
The hair on the jig is too long and they bite on to the tail and miss the hook. Happen to me before and I always trim down tail she I use a jig now. Or you can down size the jig.
Beg to differ, a lifetime of Trout fishing leads me to disagree with your "The BEST Way to COOK TROUT!! " Skinning them is silly. That skin is incredible flavor when fried.. Leave the head on but clean out the gills along with the guts. When cooked , pull the head out down through the belly cut and the spine and ribs will come out with it. The fins will pull out of a cooked fish. Fried in just a touch of oil will taste far better than baked or whatever properly describes that style of cooking. Then lemon and great eating.
