I think plain simple villagers are great, it's not a bad thing that a villager has a simple design. If they all had wacky unique designs it'd become a bit of a headache. They provide a nice contrast with the crazy looking villagers. Look at Daisy for example, her whole vibe is "sleepy pastel dog" and her simplistic look suits her 100%

I cannot physically express in words how much I am in love with the ducks in this game. I know lots of people don't like them but I would genuinely die for them.

Watching this video made me realize there is some truth behind the saying "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder"; the Villagers you dragged were the ones I found to be the most visually appealing. Also, I'm not huge on Tigers but I think they have some of the most unique designs in the entire series. Rolf was one of the Neighbours I started out with on the original Population Growing game on GCN and I remember how striking his overall design looked compared to the other animals. I miss having him chew me out for wandering the woods in the middle of the night.

Honestly, out of all the Anteaters, my favorite's gotta be Antonio, as his design isn't one that makes him look hideous. After all, I believe he's meant to be modeled after an actual giant anteater. I also happen to like his Jock Personality quite a lot actually.

I disagree with you on Kiki, Kiki's big nose is quite adorable especially with the wide eyes that cats make, and Kiki's little sweater making Kiki even more cozy looking.

Personally it took me a while to warm up to Olaf the anteater, but when I designed a house for him in ACHHD, I started to notice that he looked a little like Michael Jackson and from that point on I just had this silly head canon that he was a Michael Jackson impersonator. I decorated his house so he had a stage along with a mic, and he had this huge walk-in closet with a bunch of MJ-esque clothing. I think I even recall making his catchphrase “Hee hee” when he came to my island in New Horizons 😂😂😂

Dude, I love Egbert, simply because he is the only villager that has had more than 25 questionable moments in half a year.

I have to disagree, Tipper is the best cow. She is kind-hearted and is always thinking of villager. 10/10.

Tammy was one of the first villagers on my island, she’s been with me since day 1. Although people call her aggressive i really like her

Fun fact: Poppy the horse is based off of a real-life animal called an Okapi. They look like a hybrid of a zebra, deer, horse, and donkey.

Personally, I like the more boring villagers. Goldie, Beau, and Fauna are some of my top favorites just because of how sweet and simple they look. The more extravagant villagers are cool, and who doesn't love stand outs like Lucky and Pheobe, but I do like the sweetness of a "boring" villager.

One thing I've noticed with about 45-50% of starter villagers (jock/sisterly), is that they look like a completely different personality type. Tybalt (one of my faves) is a Jock but looks like a Lazy or Cranky to me. Cranberra is also this way, looking more Snooty than Sisterly.

Rowan is a depressed Tony the Tiger and I love him.

On the gorillas. I adore Boone. I didn't like him at first, he was one of my starting villagers, but he grew on me and now he's in the number 1 slot for "villagers I'll never get rid of" because of how things have unfolded for him on my island. Him and Flurry seem to be best friends in get in arguements a lot. The first time they did was the turning point for Boone with me. Flurry felt bad so she asked me to take him a gift. What did this girl give this jocky boy? A pink dress. He was over the fucking moon about it too. He loves that dress. Was happy to get it and like a year later he still frequently wears it. Flurry has given him other "girly" gifts and he loves them everytime while frequently commenting that he doesn't like or doesn't know if he can pull off the more sports themed gifts I've given him. So I have it in my head that he's this muscle head that also has a very feminine soft side. I love it. On the horses though I must firmly disagree with Colton. Omg he is the only villager that I have ever gotten that I viscerally hated and had to yeet IMMEDIATELY!!! Papi is underrated though and is one of my favorite villager designs because he is based on one of my favorite animals, the Okapi.

I agreed with most of what you said, but your hate for the koalas was sad :( Sydney is super sweet and her home is adorable. Gonzo imo is kinda cute and Lyman is cute too once you get used to him. I understand we all have different opinions tho and that's ok.

A lot of the villagers you dont like are from past games. They are kinda my favorita ones because of the nostalgia i have of befriending them in wild world. To me they feel like old friends

How can you not mention that Rooney is a boxer themed, and kangaroos are often associated with that theme. It's such a fun and smart design for a kangaroo.

Fun fact: Scoot is one of the two villagers that were with me at the start of my Animal crossing new horizons journey and he's still in my island to this day. Cause I'll be honest he's a good buddy who is really into fitness. Sad that you don't like him as much but I'm glad this list is honest. Also thought I'd mention this. Rosie Best Villager in my list. :3

Freckles design has always looked so cute to me! She’s so sweet and just wants to be a pop star but also loves fishing. She might be at the bottom for you but she’ll always be best duck 💛

I honestly find it kind of sad that it's a thing in the AC community to just label villagers that you don't like the look of as "ugly". It feels cruel lol. Like I know they aren't real and don't have feelings but when playing they are part of the world. They have a personality. They can't help what they look like. The "ugliness" is part of the charm. They are designed to look a certain way. It's up to the player to make what they look like come to life by giving them a backstory. I always love to have a unique or "ugly" looking villager that nobody else would want on my island. A good example of this would be Frett the dog. He has massive eyebrows and looks constantly startled but he just gives me such endearing grandpa vibes. I just want to take care of him lol. And then I have a soft spot for Ed the horse. He looks like a gay emo that can't figure out who he is but knows exactly who is he at the same time. He was the first villager to ever give me his photo when I played New Leaf so I just have a soft spot for him. It's like he's my oldest friend despite what he looks like. And I think Flo the penguin is pretty forgettable as a villager at first glance but she was my starter villager for New Horizons and she was the only villager that would sing. I had her on my island for months and even though she kind of has an attitude as she is a big sister personality villager, I grew to love her for it.

I’m so glad that Hans got the love for the Gorrilas, I wasn’t thrilled when I found him but i absolutely fell in love with him, his house is so cute and he’s just an overall sweetheart 🫶🏻

i once saw a captioned photo with Freckles that said "its giving going into my parents room at 2 am to tell them i threw up" and let me just say that that is the most accurate description of a villager i have ever heard.

I got Boone as my jock starter and honestly, he grew on me A LOT. Now I don't get why people take one look at him, and immediately hate him, and now I realise he isn't that bad. His jock personality totally makes sense. He gives me more of a "big brother" vibe than a "weirdo" vibe. I also love his colour palette.

I'm sorry in advance, I feel like I have to say this.. Deirdre was actually one out of very few animal crosser's that are like a best friend to me, Although she may look weird in NL I feel she looked better in NL, She's one of my neighbors that I dearly adore (No pun intended) and was, indeed, a close friend😭 Along with that, Caroline is another villager that I have a vast amount of love for, She is a REALLY kind and easily a lovable villager. She, Of course, Is another villager who is like a friend to me. And don't get me started on Lily, She is my all time FAVORITE! She has a lovely temperament, Sweet, Mild, Kind and all in all, a very friendly villager. I also have to admit, she also looks very cute.

If I were to chose out of all the villagers....my favorite is absolutely Goldie. Goldie is the most cutest dog villager n my opinion, and I love her normal personality also her sense of style. My second favorite has to be Cherry I absolutely love her emo look.

I agree with what you said about Katt being “an acquired taste” she was one of my villagers in New leaf and seeing her as my first villager in NH made me very happy.

Graham was in my town in New Leaf, and when I saw someone had him in boxes, I couldn't resist but get him! I think his nerdy vibe is adorable, especially when you give him glasses and you can actually see his cute tiny eyes!

Beau, Molly, Marshall, and Maple are my favourite neighbours.

Moe is sooooooo underrated. Why does everyone hate him? He has such adorable eyes and beautiful blues!

Patty is my most favorite villager ever :) At first I was pretty disappointed when she moved in too, because I didnt get one of those popular villagers but she grew on me fast. Later I bought her amiibo and invited her to my town in NL too.

My all time favorite villager is Beau 🥰 and yes! A fellow cat person! I have a kitty named Nala and a rabbit named Evelyn 😄 I actually just got Mitzi to move to my island!

Since this video came out before 2.0, I will say Del, Stella, and Monique are my favorites. I know Mo' was your least favorite, but I think I just vibe with her the best. Plus the Marylin Monroe theme goes with my more old-fashioned tastes. 2.0 added Marlo and Shino to that list.

I’m surprised I agree with most of your choices. I normally don’t really get some of the hated villagers I actually like. The “ugly” villagers always have a place in my heart, as I find them endearing. (Why do you hate Scoot?!)

I just had a random memory come back to me when I saw Lucky. 😂 New Leaf was my first AC game and when I had Lucky in my town, I had a mission! A mission I would complete at any cost, my mission was to get Lucky to wear the mummie shirt…it took longer then expected but one day I saw him wearing the mummie shirt, as a young teen I was so happy. 😂 EDIT: COUSTEAU!!! 😂😭 I have a confession to make, as a kid/teen I really thought his moustache was his eyes! 😂😭, for SO many years I thought that and still do…don’t ask me how or why…I ask myself that all them time. 😂

Bit disappointed to see my two favourite species (koalas and anteaters) as being hated. My favourite species will always be the koalas, however I understand everyone has their own opinions! 😊👍 Aww... sad to see Gonzo so hated, hes like the perfect cranky villager. And my two favourites are Melba and eugene 🐨❤️

Just a little correction here! Hopper isn’t based off an Emperor penguin-rather, he’s based entirely off of the Rockhopper penguin (hence his name!)

my fave animal crossing character is rolf because he is like a grumpy old guy who warms up to you and you make friends with him and its just heartwarming to me

I’m so happy Wolfgang is also other people’s favorite. He was one of my first villagers and came to greet me when I became mayor of my town in New Leaf.

i JUST got New Horizons, which is my first Animal Crossing game (I was more of a legend of Zelda kid when I had a ds)! I started off with Mira and Tybalt and I absolutely LOVE them. Mira is a constant comfort on my island; I can always find her doing something cute… and she calls me Cottontail! Tybalt is the best! I like to think of him as a himbo with how little he knows. I know next to nothing about the game, so it’s taken me about a few months to figure I needed a campsite to continue with finding new villagers for my island… 😅

The amount of shade jambette gets makes me sad tbh I had her in my new leaf village and, whilst she worried me a little at first, she’s so much more than her appearance. She genuinely ended up being the sweetest villager in my town and she loved reading and gardening and just cute quiet activities and I miss her so much since she left. I think the clothing change going into new horizons really impacted her overall vibe. That dress makes her look way more… yeah. And people assume she’s gross because of that. Whereas prior to new horizons she was definitely more so a very nice and normal, friendly neighbor who just happened to wear a little too much makeup, not that I would ever have the heart to judge her for that

I'm currently trying to get one of every villager to visit (Haven't had a Deer or Duck yet). My favorites so far have been Anabelle (bought her Amiibo card), Tammi, Lily, Tia, Merry, Kiki, Lolly, Walker, and Flurry. Kyle is my worst. Took forever to leave. I also don't really care for any of the Snooty/Crankys that don't emote back. I can't wait to see who comes to my island next!

Honestly i love bruce the deer. His chill vibe along with his aweseom house goes really well with the city vibe i am going for. Also his "old biker gang leader" esk personality really makes me love him.

i noticed that you seemed to gravitate towards designs very based in reality but also ones that had really colorful and eccentric but sometimes unusual palettes, and that seemed to define your take on a lot of designs. interesting stuff!

I actually like Sylvia. Her and Roald were my first two villagers, and they're both still on my island. I didn't like her at first because of her sisterly personality (she was a bit rude to me at first), but I've grown to really like her. The more I hung around her, the more she warmed up to me and did sorta start acting like what I think a sister might act like (likes to tease and gets annoyed sometimes, but is caring deep down nonetheless) I also like Wendy. I have three peppy villagers, and she's one of them. I personally think she's really cute.

The one villager I absolutely hate Ed (horse)....I had him as a villager. I actually restarted my game because of him. His presence ruined my island. If I kept my game, I would have hit him with my net .. I loved nan (goat) and Meagan (bear(. Sylvia (kangaroo) is actually pretty sweet. Annicote (mouse( is just a no. Frigga (penguin)...she annoyed me at first but I grew to love her. Bam (deer)..I was devastated when he left my island. I really want Apollo and one of the wolves. I don't care what one I get.....

Zucker is my fav villager overall. He's quite uniqe and there isn't many of his species. Also, I really like water, so the octopus species is for me. But my pick would be Zucker. I actually have him on my island!
