yeah some pretty darn cool stuff at some great prices...but in the end if one of these boards hadn't been a replacement I would have paid for 3 of them and still not had a working one :( Guess I coulda just spent the $80 for something different in the end, lol.

@@BaconNinjaFPV It's so strange to me, seeing so many people talk about how bad BetaFPV's stuff is, 'cause my Meteor65 has been absolutely amazing. It just keeps flying. I've crashed it so many times and I still haven't managed to break anything. The props that came with it were bad, actually - they would just pop off on every crash - but I replaced them with Gemfans, I think and it's been excellent ever since. This is on BetaFPV batteries too. It doesn't have much power, but it's pretty comparable with this type of whoop I think. Maybe it is just a quality control thing - that I've just coincidentally gotten a great one. (This is the older version, though - with built-in FrSky and analog video.)

I really hope it is just a bad component, and maybe they just got a bad batch from their vendor. If it didn't have this issue over the course of the 3 I have gotten, it would be a pretty terrific board!

Absolutely! In my case the gyro was too noisy to even arm so it was before there was ever an opportunity for that antenna to start vibrating. I have this same board in my Cetus X now which seems to be chugging along quite well, so I just had a super huge streak of bad luck with the ones I got to try out.

I did upgrade mine to BF 4.4, but since the ELRS receiver on this one is UART based you basically flash it just like you would any other ELRS receiver that you might solder on to a quad. The thing I really liked about this board was that you didn't have to worry about running a particular version of BF to get compatibility with different ELRS versions, which is pretty darn nice! It sounds like you may want to try re-flashing the receiver its self since you might have a version mismatch there. Another thing you might try is moving he wire antenna around to a different spot since carbon can have a pretty big impact on reception. Outside of those things, I reallllly hope it isn't another bum board you have there because that would really be a downer :(

@@BaconNinjaFPV Yea I returned it this morning because the voltage reading started jumping up and down real fast like a diode or something on the board wasn't right and keep in mind this was all without ever taking flight..... Then on top of it, just trying to calibrate it took 15 seconds because of ??? I don't know but not good, so yeah that's basically why I buy from Amaz because If I couldn't return stuff I wouldn't buy it.....6 out of last 9 we're trash.... So yeah off to the next one lol but you have any tooth pick recommendation of what's out currently? and ty for getting back to me...

well as long as you keep it in acro then it sounds like it sends just fine! lol. I think the original model probably held up a little better, and this one really just has to be some kind of bad component on the board and minimal quality control to weed out bad ones. If it wasn't for that defect, it would be a pretty awesome board!

I am really hoping it is just a batch issue as well. The boards have some great features, and if I could have gotten one which worked longer than a couple of packs it would have been pretty great!

I have had a pretty good experience with HM boards, except for the couple that I ruined trying to do things with them that I shouldn't do, lol. Especially the x12!

I havent yet, but now that I am where I am with it I plan on doing it :) I don't expect it to fix the gyro issues, but if it does for some reason then it has to be something with the firmware target not expecting a BMI270 which would point out the issue pretty quick.

it is running the whoop lite cam. It is technically not made for this canopy, but I made it fit, lol. I thought about going walksnail with it, but opted for HDZero since I knew I would be flying this one pretty fast!

It sure can! Well, not directly, but after you take all of the wires out of the FC side of the harness and reverse them it will work. Pull up a diagram of that socket, take all of the wires out of the board side of the harness, and put them back in where they should go to line up with the plug pinout. It should be exactly opposite left to right if I remember correctly.

if you are talking about the Betaflight version of the Cetus, I believe so. That should have an ELRS compatible radio and the goggles will work with any standard 5.8ghz analog system :)

BetaFPV is just so hit and miss...and I missed 3 times in a row some how, lol. They have some really appealing stuff and when it works it works great!

hmmmm, if you are on discord it all it would be really helpful to see a pic of how you have it wired up. It could be a whole lot of things, but it is really hard to tell without double checking where you have everything hooked up to. Or you could send me an email if that works :) I have my email address on the channel about page.

Could it be 2 motor pads soldered together? Will that make a board tick or click repeated when plugged in. I took a multi tester and checked continuity - looks like a short. But what's ticking the 5v reg?

ooof, at least mine didn't kill a fet and they will actually fly. On another note, have you swapped any of the motors around between the board swaps?

the frame is made of TPU?? I gotta try that! I think if you get a good product from them they are great....its just all those times where you dont get a good one, lol.

I have a feeling you are correct. With the cost of everything going up, the only way to make a play in the market is finding a more economic way to do things and that usually leads to those missing corners.

oof, it sounds like either you have some antenna damage or there is something knocked off the board right around the antenna :( It will be super hard to track down though if it isn't just visible damage to that wire antenna on board.

I believe it is the 2022 version as it does list the thickness at 0.8mm.

hmmmm, that test where you swap the motor would really lead me to believe that you have a bad ESC on number 3. It is strange that two boards would do that to you though. Is it possible that you put the same motor from the first board in the same spot on the second board before you did all of the swapping to test? There may be something going on with that motor which happens to just perfectly draw too many amps through the traces for motor 3's pads but doesn't have the same problem on other motor pads due to the board layout.

I had almost the same exact issue with 2 out of 3 boards. Current board seemed to be ok for awhile until yesterday when I started getting a calib error when trying to arm :(

I noticed it lining up with the LED flashing for the receiver too, but then I disabled that receiver and it clicked even with no flash so I suspect it is something else and just happens to be exactly in time with whatever that light was doing. I haven't ever had that issue with the flash storage though...always been able to delete my logs. Have you tried removing the file called padding in there along with the logs to see what that does? Maybe something is wrong with that file and it is the one which actually controls what space is used on the board. You aren't alone in the money pit that is FPV some times! lol

@@BaconNinjaFPV MBN, thank you for taking the time to reply. You were right, the clicking sound and the LED was just a coincidence. As for the BB, It seemed that putting the BB erase on a switch actually worked - ONE TIME. Upon opening the mass storage device, suddenly instead of like 14 UNERASABLE logs there were only 3. I thought that I found a workaround to the problem BUT... Setting the quad to beep upon BB erase and trying it again....well....no beep....and the new logs are still there. The weird part is that the padding file properties says "240 MB" - which I don't understand, because the flash memory is only supposed to be 8K. Perhaps the entire storage portion of the FC is 256 MB, and this is some weird technical glitch. IDK. Just putting this out there for the collective. Thank you MBN. I'd be happy to send you some of the logs :) I really think what happened here was a specific batch thing. All in all a really solid feature set on this thing, and I am hoping the 4th one pans out better, lol.

@@BaconNinjaFPV yeah I hope so too. the only kind of issue I had was one was making the clicking sound when plugged into usb.

I suspect it also has something to do with either the component quality or the gyro :( Either they got a bad bunch of components somehow, or they swapped some things to keep the cost down since prices are constantly changing.

@@BaconNinjaFPV it seems that way. I’ve also had issues with failsafes on impact. Then it waits 5 seconds to reconnect. Very odd !!

The one I have on here at the end is a 10v 450uf cap since I wanted to just throw way more capacitance at it than it should ever need. I would love to have tried putting one directly on the 3.3v rail, but unfortunately it is not broken out on this board and I really don't want to hunt one down with as packed in as the components are. Having been through 3 of them though, I would say it is more a manufacturing defect than anything :(

The thing that might throw that theory off is that even before the quad arms, the gyro won't calibrate because there is too much noise :( I could absolutely see this if it was only while it was in the air, but just to get it to arm I had to set the noise threshold suuuuuper high just so it would agree to start up. I did try some biblades a week or so ago on it just to see but no luck there either.

Ok, fair enough. This AIO is in my meteor75 and it flys fantastic. Could it be electrical interference from your HDZero?

Yeah the SPI is a bit faster and more efficient, and I think with the BF 4.4 custom build features we will see less of a problem in the future with newer ELRS builds being added. Really hoping they just throw them in there and we can custom build for a target with it baked in! We don't have any local dealers around here :( in fact the nearest one which would even qualify is about 500 miles away, lol...that would be a long drive for an exchange :p I knew better than to do it for this one, but I thought I would give them another shot and see how it went. When their stuff is good, its good, but when its bad it is reallllllll bad. I think the clicking is a cap charging and discharging or a FET clicking, but the weird part to me is that it doesn't do it when the board is in DFU or storage mode which wouldn't impact the ESC being booted up. Must be something closer to the MCU or gyro, which would kinda explain why this looks like a capacitance issue in the 3.3v rail. I am thinking it is a bad micro cap somewhere up there and maybe they got a bad batch of them in the factory. I will totally be trying quicksilver on this BTW! Really just to see if they built this hex without adjusting it for a BMI270 and setting those low level filter bits...if it doesn't do this on quicksilver then I will know for sure. On my goggle recordings, it fails to write DVR even from the beginning with no other files on the card after a fresh format. There is an issue open on the GitHub where they aren't handling the filesystem appropriately and it is causing a flag to be set (or un set) after first boot that kinda screws it from that point forward. Hoping they get that one fixed soon though! I did want to put a cap on the 3.3v rail, but they don't have it broken out to a pad on this one and I didn't want to go hunting for a bridge since it is sooooo small, lol. Honestly though, unless I had damaged the board in a crash I shouldn't have to do that just to get it to work correctly. The capacitance on that rail should be within spec out of the box, but just doesn't appear to be at all. I will let you know how that firmware swap goes buddy!

@@BaconNinjaFPV I have a 5A 2022 BetaFPV board that twitches like crazy on Betaflight preview. Adjust gyro settings in CLI doesn’t even help in getting it to arm, at all. No matter what I try it SCREAMS SO LOUD that I can’t even get it to ARM!!! On 🥑 the same board acts absolutely normally with no twitching and flys amazing with a normal gyro signal… this I don’t understand! Bump for Quicksilver 🥑❤️🥓🥷

Got me into the hobby. There advertised M04 vtx output is a flat out lie. I have 5. I just keep letting them screw me. And I’m not sure why. Customer service is amazing tho.

I was really hoping this shot a BetaFPV would be issue free too, because it would have been such a great board in this little quad! Maybe the 4th one will hang in there, lol.
