All of us in South Africa know that Shrine Dawani is guilty, we followed this case religiously ,all the evidence were there but our justice system dropped the ball on this one

I stay in Cape Town and it is common knowledge to every single person who stays here of where not to go, especially at night. The cab driver would've been wary to take them to such a place unless there was something bigger than his normal cab fee in it for him. That Shrien guy is definitely guilty and there is a lot of evidence that supports this claim.

So Shrien actually paid the driver for his services 3 days after the hijacking and murder. That alone seems really questionable.

He brought her out to South Africa, knowing that life is cheap here. IMO he's a psychopath who lied to his new bride and had her murdered so he could follow his own desires. It's a disgrace he wasn't found guilty. Hope justice finds his address sooner rather than later. Poor Annie. She so did not deserve that.

I was shocked to hear Mike at the end say he doesn’t believe Shrien had anything to do with it. I had to rewind like 5 times to make sure I was hearing him right. Especially when he said that Shrien and the taxi driver were texting each other in the car! That’s a dead giveaway.

He absolutely did it. There was so much evidence. I cannot believe this was just outright dismissed by the judge. I'm sure his family made a nice big "donation" to someone in that judges family, or had her severely threatened.

I'm South African and when this happened every local person asked why would they go there and at that time of the night. Its not a tourist attraction even us locals here in Cape Town avoid it. He is guilty. He wouldn't speak to her father who has been here many times since this happened. He refused to cooperate with authorities when her father begged him to. This was a long con and a deadly one and poor Anni is gone from her family

Sorry Mike, I disagree with you. I feel that the husband was involved, no one becomes this close to a taxi driver on holiday. Who would take their new wife to an area that dangerous whilst on honeymoon? No man I know. If he really wanted to see another part of South Africa that was not so touristy he could have gone in the daytime. Also, who has ever paid their taxi driver in their hotel room?.

If Anni had asked anyone about that township, EVERYONE she asked would've told her not to go there. I was in Cape Town visiting my grandmother when this happened. That poor woman mustve been terrified. Also...I find it so interesting that he wanted to see the 'real' Africa, when a few days before he had literally seen the real Africa in Kruger National Park. 🤦‍♀️

If I may, I’d like to include my two cents on this case. I’m South African and grew up hearing about it occasionally. There were a few things that Mike did not share in the video that I would like to bring to light. Thomas and Calvin Mollett are brothers, they are also forensic investigators and authors. They have successfully proven and found evidence in other gruesome South African murders, such as the case of Reeva Steenkamp, girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius and Inge Lotz and Susan Rode. They focused heavily on Anni’s case and have even written a book about it now, where they go into more detail about what they’ve gathered. It’s titled The Bloodied Bride - Did Shrien Deewani get away with murder? These are some statements according to the two brothers: “ - the biggest mistake police made was letting Shrien leave the country. He was there that night and as a witness at least should have stayed to assist the police with their investigation.” They explained that it not have been a botched robbery, due to the fact that Tonga could not have had the foresight and information to plan the ‘robbery’ at a specific spot in Gugulethu, unless he’d already had the information from the groom. “Shrien could have chosen to dine in Hout Bay, which would not have taken them on the N2 and past Gugulethu.” Meaning that he could have chosen to dine closer to the hotel, instead of going on a highway and getting to the more dangerous areas. The most jarring evidence though was something that the Mollett’s found. It’s a transcription of a meeting that Shrien had with Anni’s family, when he returned to the UK. It was secretly recorded by Anni’s cousin, Sneha Mashru. He told his in-laws that Tonga had left immediately after dropping them off at the hotel, when in reality, he’d spent 10 minutes in the car with Tonga alone, while Anni checked in. Supposedly, Shrien had also withdrawn a large amount of cash to pay for a “surprise helicopter ride.” He didn’t mention this at all to his in-laws. It was revealed in court, but not really focused on. The brothers also mention, “He was there that night when his wife was killed, but he never testified. So this is an effort to distil and deduce from his various versions, what the real story is behind the death of Anni Deewani.” If I may add my own opinion to this. Almost everyone in South Africa agrees that Shrien was the perpetrator. Unfortunately, in Indian communities it’s easier to be a widower than a divorcee. He saw an out and he took it. South African hijackings are common and are no joking matter. If there ever has to be one, the hijackers will never kill one person and let the other go. Secondly, if a car has been stolen or hijacked here, it’s almost guaranteed that it’s never coming back. Cars can be stripped clean within an hour or two. It’s heartbreaking to know that Anni not only passed away, but that her last moments were probably spent panicking and fearing for her life. May she rest in peace. Stay safe y’all.

I never thought I see the day I'd disagree with Mike 😅....but the husband totally had her killed IMO. Such a coward to end a life, rather than live his truth (if the narrative about him hiding his sexuality is true). RIP Anni 💔

The fact he was texting the drive, not wanting your newly wife to know what you're saying while in an extremely horrible area... That just doesn't add up to me. And why would you pay a taxi driver over a week after you started getting his services???

The Oscar Pistorius case demonstrated how incredibly bad SA judges are. They just seem to be inexplicably drawn to a mind-blowingly incomprehensible lack of justice.

I think you got this one wrong Mike. I was *REALLY* surprised to hear you say he had nothing to do with it! Texting each other in the car around Anni. The car being left & not chopped PDQ. Him saving her very expensive ring and a myriad other things. He got away with murder because he managed to stretch out extradition for four years. I can't remember what i did last month accurately & if you understand a little about how human memory works then the fact that these people's memories diverged and fractured in four years isn't surprising. It's these divergences & fractures that his defence team leveraged to, essentially, get him off on a technicality. Leaving him free to run back to Randy Ron but with his Hindu credentials unsullied. That poor woman. Even her death was a sham. She deserved better.

I imagine Shrien's inheritance was probably based on marrying and producing heirs- he just needed to show he'd at least tried.

I remember this story like is was yesterday. I didn't believe a word of her being kidnapped and her 'rich' husband being spared. Poor Ani had the misfortune of meeting/marrying this pathetic psychpath who instead of coming clean about his sexuality, orchestrated her murder. A senseless murder and the most painful part is that he got away with it because he's rich.

Mike has to be very careful calling a man a murderer after being found not guilty in court. This whole thing stinks to high heaven. My belief is the guy got away with murder, it's very sad indeed.

Firstly, I want to mention how well you put your videos together and I'm literally obsessed with watching them. But I must say that you really did an injustice with this case. So many missed points you could have mentioned and a little disappointed you came to the conclusion you came to. As a South African I just wish you did a more thorough job.. And would be great to come back and make another video on it. My opinion: 100% guilty.

I live in SA and I remember the day this case broke. My cleaning lady and I were standing in the kitchen listening to the radio. When they said that Anni wasn't raped and that the car was found, we turned to each-other and said, "this doesn't make sense, what was the motive?". It just didn't fit the profile of a typical SA crime and everyone here believes he was behind it.

For the first time in one of your cases, I disagree. I think he had everything to do with it. And I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. My sympathy all goes to Anni s family.

Anyone with common sense knows it's one of those cases of 'he got away with it.' Shrein's behavior, demeanor & actions on video are subtle but obvious of guilt but without any proper evidence to prove he was behind it without a doubt. It's such a sad story.. how can any man surprise his new bride with a frightening kidnapping & murder on her honeymoon, if only she went with her gut feelings to never marry the guy.

So hard to imagine the person you have just married is plotting to have you murdered, she was a beautiful lady, may she rest in peace.

Wait a minute, he's able to get that $25,000 engagement ring off her finger without them noticing and he hides it under the seat cushion... in a car he never plans to see again. He doesn't look like one to slum it, so just the trip to that neighborhood convinced me. Also, it didn't look like ransom and they didn't assault her, so what could possibly be the rationale for taking a hostage in a carjacking?

In my opinion he is guilty. That can be up for debate but what is not is the way he treated her family afterwards. They wanted to talk to him, get answers and get closure but he refused to meet them, even muscling then out of her funeral. Her father has wrote a book which will have you sobbing. His PTSD disappeared right after the acquittal and he set up home with his new boyfriend in London.

I just watched a doc on this last night as I was falling asleep! Love to hear you tell the stories as you shed so much light on the victims. And you just have such a unique way of telling these stories. Don’t care how many times I’ve heard the story, always here to HEAR you give it a gooo!

He's 100% guilty, the case isn't murky at all. The video footage, the circumstances of the crime, the statements from the hitmen, his behavior before and after her murder all point to his guilt. Another tragic case that concludes with injustice...

Gotta disagree with you here Mike. Far too many questionable moves on Shrien's part - texting the driver in the car, paying him after the incident & then scoping out the security cameras...all screams guilty to me.

On the night of the kidnapping, it is possible that Anni's life could have been SAVED had Shrien Dewani reported to police that it was only at the taxi driver's urging that they had travelled into the No-Go Zone. Instead, he BLAMED ANNI for their ride into the township. I believe the reason he did do is because Tongo the taxi driver was acting on Dewani's orders to kidnap and murder Anni. So the fact of the matter is Dewani had NO INTENTION of trying to save her life. For those few who claim to believe Dewani is innocent, why do YOU think Dewani deflected attention away from the taxi driver on the night of the kidnapping?

As a South African, and a lawyer, this was a very frustrating case. And the whole story from both of them was very suspicious, especially driving through Gugulethu. It's a big township with many ways around it. Being offered R15 000.00 for that area is like winning the lottery.

Im from Cape Town, when this story broke - we all knew immediately that something wasn't right. SA might have a high crime rate but kidnappings and ransoms are rare - the fact that they only took her and not him send huge red flags. And NO ONE would go do a township tour at night, let's not sugar coat it, it is what it is - as beautiful as Cape Town is there are many dangerous areas including Townships and the Cape Flats even more so for a tourist, you stick out like a sore thumb. He definitely killed her and I suspect it was due to his sexuality. He would rather be the grieving widower , not be forced to marry again and then can have his secret double life. It's so disgusting how he was able to evade justice. I feel so sorry for Annie's parents but he will get what he deserves one day.

I honestly don't feel sorry for the husband, being outed isn't fun but neither is getting shot and having your murder planned by the man who you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, he definitely planned to have her killed and I hope he is still suffering to this day because of it, may Anni rest in peace ❤

Living in SA for 14 years and during the time this took place , I know for a fact the hotel staff would of told these people not to go with a random taxi driver or some guide to tour the city, especially a high class hotel...it’s well known that SA is not a safe place for naive tourists who don’t know the danger of taking such actions, this guy is either a complete moron, which I doubt 🤔 or he’s guilty as hell. Trust me when I say this, their are plenty of people in SA who who do a murder for the right money, so to ask a random guy to do this might not be as far fetched as you think...he spent far to much time meeting with some random taxi driver when a phone call could of been enough , most South Africans thought he guilty because they know how things work, he definitely got away with it .🤷

Wait what do you mean there was no evidence of his involvement? Let's ignore the text message in the car, and the weird transaction THREE DAYS LATER. Let's ignore that the husbands' story changed. The fact that he didn't get shot and didn't seem to know who did it even though he LITERALLY knew the people who did the crime. Yeah, no evidence at all if you just ignore the evidence. Circumstantial evidence is still evidence.

Dewani can only be innocent if the taxi driver decided he would organize a robbery FROM which he would not receive one single penny, but FOR which he would have been immediately arrested by police. And the likelihood of that, let's face it, is as close to zero as you can get. Therefore there can be no real doubt that robbery was staged to cover up the real motive here: murder. -justice4anni

Being in the closet is no excuse for murder in any fashion, and I don't give a damn about sexual identity. Mr. Dewani was lucky that he didn't have to face a jury. A judge in South Africa is given enormous power.

The husband got away with murder. There are so many pieces of evidence suggesting he hired them to kill his wife. Sure there could have been discrepancies in the hijackers and the taxi drivers story but there were also discrepancies in the husbands were there not? The husband meeting up with the taxi driver in the hotel, the taxi driver leaving the hotel with an envelope, the husband looking at the cctv camera (just as the taxi driver stated happened when he pointed out to the husband there were cameras), the fact that the driver and the husband were texting each other while they were in the car together, the fact that it is very bizarre for them to have left the safe hotel resort to go explore a shady part of town in the middle of the night, the fact that all 3 men pointed to the husband and their stories matched with one another’s, the fact that the husband lied about the ring he said he gave to the hijackers but it was actually in the car, the fact that the husband claimed the hijackers wanted the valuables and the car but yet they left the car on the side of the road, also why would the men kidnap the wife if they got what they wanted already because it was pointed out that she was not sexually assaulted so it wasn’t about that either, the fact that the wife’s friends said she was very unhappy in the marriage and had texts to prove she said those things and she said that her husband treated her badly, the fact that the husband showed no interest in his wife’s funeral arrangements or speaking to her family, the fact that he was quick to move on to new relationships when he returned to London, the fact that he showed no signs of sadness on those recordings after his wife was killed….the list goes on and on and some people are really going to tell me this man is innocent or that there isn’t enough evidence to prove that he is guilty of the murder of his wife…I really don’t know how many more red flags you need.

Yeah this dude definitely did it. The texts from Anni, the texts to the driver during the journey and the video of him paying the driver a week later? Also why would he meet the driver in the parking lot of the hotel? The court case may have been weak, but he definitely did it. RIP Anni, you deserved better.

Hi Mike, you've been duped too. I'm from South Africa and Shrien was definitely guilty of arranging the hit on his wife. Anyone is South Africa knows that Guguletu is extremely dangerous by day, never mind at night. Besides, if one is hijacked by gunpoint in South Africa, they would kill all parties not just one! They would also never just leave the car. They would definitely have it changed in a chop shop before one can blink. The people I feel sorry for is Annie's family. May they find peace over time. RIP Anni.

Yeah, the husband was involved and he did get away with murder... This case was huge here in Sweden when it happened and there were so many twists and turns from start. It leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth... So sorry for Anni and her family. As for the POS that got away - not so much. But you can only hope for what goes around comes around.

I'm a South African and I remember this story. The waste of a man made our whole country look bad at the time. South Africans was crying for the death penalty to come back for Anni's killers. Little did we all know that the mastermind behind ball of this was her own husband.

I know this case. Her husband was acquitted of her murder, but, I still think he had something to do with it. I don't trust that guy, he's really sketchy, in his personal life.

This scumbag is absolutely guilty. All the evidence pointed to him with the most incriminating being texting the guy while on the taxi ride! And they'd never go to an area like that at night! And the cctv footage of him meeting with the guy on multiple occasions, including after the murder! Loads of evidence against this guy. Haven't ever disagreed with Mike until today. As a South African, EVERYTHING about this case was just off. He's without a doubt, Guilty. He got away with murder.

I don’t agree that he is innocent in this. Why would he meet up with a driver at the hotel like that? Why would the driver and his mates target them specifically? Especially considering that that Cape Town is a tourist location and many wealthy tourist frequent there. There may not be enough evidence to point to his guilt but that doesn’t mean that he’s not guilty. I personally think that because he is very wealthy that it definitely had an influence on the verdict.

I still believe Shrien Dewani got away with murder. It is understandable that the witnesses like Zola Tonga were unreliable. That's because they are career criminals who always tell lies. That's their default position in self-preservation. The prosecution and the judge should've taken that into consideration and tried the case purely on circumstantial evidence and motive. You only have to look at Shrien Dewani's face during the wedding ceremony, like he was rolling his eyes inwardly and saying to himself, "how can I get out of this?" The text messages Annie sent to her friends coroborates the theory that they were a mismatched pair, but their cultural impositions forced them to make a go of a bad marriage. Shrien Dewani got away with murder. Why were he and Zola Tonga texting each other during the car ride? Why were they going to such dangerous parts of the city during that night? The fact that Shrien removed Annie's expensive engagement ring and hid it says much. He knew he'd recover it later. Annie was not sexually assaulted, meaning that the motive for her abduction was murder or robbery. If a wealthy looking couple; a man and a woman are out enjoying themselves, usually the man has the more expensive items on himself; including credit cards and money. Why did they choose to ok instead take Annie? Why did Shrien and Zola Tonga "not meet up" immediately after both of them had been unceremoniously ejected out of the vehicle, when they knew that Annie, the only woman with them was in danger? Why? Because they met and rehearsed their stories that night as she was being killed. Who knows if Shrien took part in the murder? This is a massive miscarriage of justice and I hope that Annie's family gets justice one day, for the loss of their beautiful daughter.

Mike - if you lived in the U.K as I do and you were aware of every angle of this story from the saturation it got across all newspapers, i'm sure you'd change your mind about his guilt. He got away with murder. No question about that.

Yes Mike, there is in FACT a winner in every chapter that you do. Because the victims deserve to be remembered, and to have known what happened to them. So, I actually see you as a sort of a guardian angel for what you do, and the candor and gallantry with which you do it.

To me, he’s definitely guilty. His story was full of holes, why go have dinner in a dangerous neighborhood and why would they let him go and then kill his wife? Why would they abandon the car? Poor Annie and I feel so sorry for her family too.

RIP Anni, I still feel heartbroken for her family, especially her poor father. Shrien is now openly living the life he always wanted. Such a shame Anni had to die because of his selfish and cowardice act. No justice.

He definitely had some level of involvement in her murder, there was evidence to support that, and as such, he should have spent time in prison following his trial, a few years at least. I feel like there has been no justice for this girl, who was cruelly taken from this world and at such a young age. The evil of humanity puts the Devil to shame. My condolences to Anni's family.

I disagree with Mike and do believe the husband had everything to do with Anni's murder, as there's simply too many odd actions on the part of Shrien. However, I also understand the verdict of the trial because you need to be certain of his part in the plot, and because of the witnesses' poor account of the events, this saddly couldn't be established beyond a shadow of a doubt, and there should be no room for public opinion and just feelings of odd behaviour in making such a decision. If we had the text messages shared between Shrien and the taxi driver while together in the car with Anni there, this could really elucidate the whole thing. I wonder why these couldn't be retrieved.

As a South African, I'm ashamed that we let Shrien get away with murder. Anni was a beautiful, intelligent woman who didn't deserve to be murdered. My love to Anni Hindocha and her family...

So we'll just forget all about the fact that the husband and the driver were texting each other about the murder? This is why people don't like lawyers - twisting the system and the procedure so disable evidence which would directly effect the outcome of guilt or innocence. It's sad for everybody, sad for justice. Funny how the guilty can go free and the degree of quality of defense relates to money, once again.

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around how several things used as evidence in this could just be ignored to the point of a judge just throwing the whole case out the window. Sometimes what may seem like minor details end up (or SHOULD end up) being HUGE, especially when there is not a reasonable logical explanation for them. It doesn't make sense to me for it to be necessary to go behind closed doors and away from any cameras for him to hand the driver an envelope with money in it for simply driving them around when he obviously already has it in his hands at that moment. I also find it impossible to believe that there could be a reasonable explanation for 2 men in the same car to text instead of speaking to each other when the only other person in the car is the victim who just happened to be murdered that VERY NIGHT. Also, the text from the victim to her friend stating that they were already fighting and she already regrets getting married when shes still on her freakin honeymoon speaks VOLUMES louder than some of the reasons the judge used for letting this man get away with murder. I'll end with this one but there are MANY more things thjat make it impossible for me to believe that this man didn't just get away with murder. Highjackers and killers do NOT kill one witness and just let the other walk away. They either are not willing to actually take a life to get what they want and would put BOTH of them out, or could care less and kill both to eliminate any witnesses. I CANNOT believe that anyone with half a brain, much less a JUDGE could actually just ignore MANY things that just don't make logical sense, especially when it involves a beautiful young woman being robbed of the rest of her life. Even though the killers apparently lied and changed stories trying to protect their own selves, that does NOT change the other things that were used as COMPELLING evidence of the husbands guilt. I just hope that the fact that the judge dismissed this case instead of him being found not guil;ty by a jury will mean that he can legally be charged again if and when MORE evidence is discovered. I almost wish I hadnt even watched this video after finding out he walked free My heart breaks for the victims brother and parents whose lives were already ruined by losing her, but then to have to watch the person who is ultimately responsible for her death to walk free is a pain I can't even imagine.

Pretty weird how they let the husband go & not kill them both. You’d think that if this is just a random robbery, they wouldn’t want to leave any witnesses behind.

Mike, I was just talking about this case the other day. I think you got this wrong. The husband ordered the hit and hence him netting the driver in places where there weren’t cameras, leaving the scene so soon, and delaying justice. Little pansy. I hope he has an awful life. He could’ve just said broken off the engagement. I wish you would’ve covered the a few of the witnesses. They solidified it for me. May he rot in hell. I felt awful for her family
