Prof. Solberg took your questions live: Why are some Christians adopting Jewish customs? What about replacement theology (supersessionism)? Did the Church replace Israel? What is the Trinity? What does it mean that the "record of debt" has been nailed to the cross (Col. 2:14), Can you biblically disprove unconditional election? Why the apostle Paul? And many more.
This livestream is commercial-free thanks to our friends at The Holy Roast Co., a conservative, Christian & charitable coffee company. I was hoping to catch this live but we were deep in discussion with our two TO kids. It started out with your study on Galatians but we only made it about 15 minutes into the video. Thank you for your prayer earlier this morning. We had a great talk about a lot of things. My biggest take away was that there most likely isn’t going to be a “silver bullet” moment. I know you have said this but in my stubbornness I pressed on. I have to love and pray for my kids. The rest is up to God. I’m so grateful for your work. I know there were seeds planted today.

@tessaelstran I'm saying a prayer for you and your family. I'd like to give you a bit of my personal testimony, for your encouragement. I was raised in a Christian home and had been a Christian myself for over 20 years, before I was seduced into the TO movement. It was a really slow fade for me as I moved away from Christianity to being Torah Observant. But I must say that God's Word does not return void. I was in the TO movement exclusively (not having anything to do with the Christian church) for over 10 years. My mom never really said anything negative about it, except to say that she was concerned that I was converting to Judaism. But although she didn't say much, I know she prayed for me and am convinced that prayer was what brought me out. During those 10 years, there were little things that seemed not quite right about some of the teachings & the things that were said by the people in this movement. But then, I just thought that nobody was ever 100% correct about everything, so I could overlook a few things here and there. There are so many things that I could tell you about how being a part of this movement really does change the very core of your belief, but I'll try to keep this short. The change happens so slowly and subtly that you don't realize how far away you are from Jesus until, by His beautiful grace, He wakes you up out of it. The thing that woke me up was listening to a teacher that I had never heard of before. For some reason, he came up in my suggestions on RU-vid, and I didn't even realize at the time that he wasn't a TO teacher but was, in fact, a Christian teacher. His sermon was a very simple presentation of the gospel (the same that I had heard a thousand times before in the Christian church). I cannot even relay to you how that beautiful, simple message absolutely floored me! It was like fresh, cool, spring water to one that was dying of thirst. Sadly, I didn't realize that I was that dying person till I drank of the simple gospel message again. So many things happened in the moments during and after that message. I felt the yearning of a child for home, without realizing I had been away from it.... I realized that, in my pursuit of Biblical wisdom, I had actually turned away from the grace of God.... I felt the heaviness and shame of my sin and repented.... and then I felt washed from filth that I didn't realize had accumulated on me. After my eyes were open to the simple Truth of God's Word again, I realized (with great shock) that I hadn't actually heard the gospel message in all those years in the TO movement. The realization that this group of "believers" was more concerned about if I spent Christmas day with my Christian family than they were about sharing the gospel of Christ to a dying world was my wake-up call. I am believing and praying with you that your children will be woken up to the real truth of God's Word. Just keep loving on them and try to avoid arguing about the issues; continue praying for them & never stop sharing the simple, beautiful truth of God's Word as He leads you. 🙏❤ With love & prayers, Katrina

Thank you so much for considering my personal perspective on adopting some Jewish customs, Rob. I appreciate the critique and “iron sharpening iron”. I think you’re right to say that my 7th point is a bit of a non-sequitur. To be more clear, the Jewish customs I particularly adopted have been feasts, Sabbaths, some prayers, and methods of study. As a gentile, I don’t partake in kosher laws, circumcision, or cleansing rituals-things not mentioned in the Jerusalem council. Thanks to guidance from teachers like you and my Messianic Jewish friend, I’ve managed to not get caught up in legalistic Torahism. @22:32 I would like to mention that the particular Sunday that Jesus was first seen raised from the dead was God’s appointed feast of First Fruits (1 Cor. 15:20), and Pentecost was the appointed time known as Shavuot. If we don’t dismiss these appointed times as being just for Israel, they actually make the timing of NT events that much more extraordinary and honor God’s eternal pattern of faithfulness. Shalom to you!

Regarding the question of why Paul, why not the Apostles? Paul tells us that he went to visit the Apostles and made sure it was the same gospel that was being preached. Not because he was in fear that he was wrong in the gospel he taught, but that all his work was in vain if the Apostles were teaching something contrary. But, it wasn't contrary. The difference was that Paul was chosen before his birth to be an apostle to the Gentiles, and Peter to the Jews. All belong to the same body, different parts and functions.

You should hook up with Messianic Rabbi- Radar Apologetics- he has an interview on Ruslan and talks about this. He has a very good take on this. Although he's Jewish keeps customs he still preaches, justification by faith. His reasoning behind it is very good explanation on why being "Jewish" he keeps these "identity markers". He's in apologetics refuted Rabbinical Judaism and the Oral law as well. Very educated and genuine guy. I'd like to see him on your channel, to help free these oppressed Hebrew Roots folks.

The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. 30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ 31 The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”

The problem with Peter Orr's arguments is that the body of believers in Christ are the chosen people (Jew and Gentile). Unbelieving Jews are not a part of this body And you are spot on with your criticism of his critique of Christmas and Easter. Celebrating the birth and resurrection of Christ is FAR more important than any other holiday or festival

Thanks again for using Q/A to rightly divide the WORD of GOD. WHY PAUL? Ken Johnson is a Dead Sea Scroll scholar. He says the Essenes predicted that a Pharisee from the tribe of Benjamin would appear after Messiah. He (Paul) would explain the Gospel to Resurrection believers and especially gentiles. It's disconcerting that many Christians do not quote Matthew 5:44; John 13:34 from their mind and heart (Hebrews 8); which is the law of Christ (Hebrews 7:12), but love to quote Matthew 5:43; Matthew 22:36-39 in the Law given through Moses (Hebrews 7:11)? Oy! Truly, Matthew 5:43; Matthew 22:36-39 is a gateway into Judaism or Torahism (Hebrews 7:11). Luke 5:39 ”And no one, after drinking old wine wants new; for he says, ‘The old is fine.’” (NASB)

Hebrews 9:15 seems to say that the New Covenant was for those that were under the Old Covenant, which wouldn't be Gentiles. So what covenant are Gentiles under? "For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance-now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant." (Hebrews 9-15) "Now we know that whatever the law says, it SAYS TO THOSE WHO ARE UNDER THE LAW, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God." (Romans 3-19) Gentiles are guilty because of Adam, Sin because they are sinners.

Hello, I think that the context of the NIV is incorrect in having translated Colossians 2:14. You take it to mean blotting out the Ten Commandments when the apostle is clearly talking about the sacrificial and ceremonial rites that the offender was obligated to do, the ‘works of the law’. He took this out of the way and not the Ten Commandments that define sin itself. The received text translates this as the handwriting of ordinances (dogma). Paul refers to the same in Ephesians 2:15. The relationship between law and grace can be understood this way: Where there is no law, sin is not imputed. Where there is no sin, grace is not imputed. -blessings

True...Colossians 2:14 This is commonly expounded of the sentence of eternal death pronounced against sinful Adam, and all his posterity, for having sinned in him. Others would have it to signify only the yoke and obligations of the Mosaical law, which could not of itself remit sins, and occasionally made persons greater sinners. This sentence of death (whether we understand the one or the other) Christ took away, fastening it as it were, to the cross, taking it away by his death on the cross.
@DaVinci3333
@DaVinci3333 3 месяца назад
And Ephesians 2:14 Christ destroyed the enmity which, like a wall of separation, stood between Jew and Gentile, and united them into one people. He did this in his flesh, by his own blood, or the sacrifice he made of his flesh on the cross.

I believe the Bible is clear Jesus resurrection was on Sabbath before dark. Crucified Wednesday just before high Sabbath feast of unleavened bread, after the Sabbath the woman bought spices, is also before the Saturday Sabbath, before sunrise Sunday he was already gone. The only way to reconcile the women buying spices before and after the Sabbath. This is the only hint of Sunday resurrection is when it says Sunday after the resurrection which doesn't say it was on Sunday but that Sunday was after he had risen. If you read carefully you will see he was risen Saturday just before sunset, 3 days & 3 nights,no other possibility, try to prove this wrong! Sunday was the first full night and day after he rose Saturday so it's probably ok to celebrate but he was resurrected on Saturday and changing God's holy Sabbath seems a bit risky for someone claiming to serve God

I used to be involved in Torah-ism...thank God the veil has been removed! My question is this...before Paul had his Damascus road experience, was he technically "keeping Torah" when he was killing the followers of the Way? Since, according to Torah, having other gods is idolatry/blasphemy is punishable by death? Just a thought I had... If that's true, those who "keep Torah" probably wouldn't have any trouble following through with the same punishment with those who don't, or no longer, keep Torah. SOME of these Torah keepers definitely seem to have a hateful spirit and would seemingly hVe no problem stoning a person...I used to be involved in Torah-ism...thank God the veil has been removed! That's a great question, Shelly! I think a case could be made that prior to meeting Jesus, Paul was keeping Torah by "breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord" (Acts 9:1). This would be based on Deut. 17:2-7, which mandates death by stoning for anyone who violates God's covenant by worshiping foreign deities. And before he was saved, Paul would have considered worship of Jesus idolatry and perhaps even worshipping a foreign god. The big difference between pre-saved Paul and "Torah-keeping" Christians is that "Torah-keepers" believe in Jesus and accept His divinity (for the most part). So they would not view the worship of Jesus as idolatry. Blessings, Rob

Rob to add to what you were saying he was following Judaism’s traditions of the fathers which is now rabbinic Judaism. Many people do not know that this is actually what Jews follow not the Bible. This is the oral law they got from Exodus 20 making boundaries around the mountain. These are man made traditions they created (breaks commandments 1-3) to control people. Which is the idolatry of the world. Create a religion and people control the rules not God. The Bible is our focus. And as you mentioned they are not following Torah but the traditions of Judaism which in large part are man made too. Even in Messianic Judaism which I came from they are teaching Gentiles to do Jewish teachings and wear Jewish garb because for the most part their services are rabbinic. The Torah is to reveal sin in us not focus us on traditions. Thank you again

Can you elaborate on this? I have been looking for evidence of this outside the Mosaic Law. It appears that Sabbath was initiated with the manna gathering instructions (Exodus 16) to test whether Israel would obey Torah, prior to its being given; and in Exodus 20 Sabbath is linked to God’s pattern of creation-seemingly the first mention of it in thousands of years according to the genealogies. I can’t find any mention of human Sabbath observation prior to Israel’s formation.

The 10 commandments are what we will be judged by. We need to know the difference between what we will be judged by and the 613. If you’re not eating kosher. One question to ask is why would I not want to eat as Yah has told me to eat. If your body is a temple wouldn't you want to put in your body the stuff Yah has approved of and not put in your body the stuff he doesn’t approve of. You wouldn’t put Fidel in a gas engine. If he gave us the feast’s. Why wouldn’t we celebrate the feast’s? The Bible talks about celebrating the feast forever. Exodus 12:14 Why would someone celebrate pagan christmas and easter when Jesus clearly celebrated Passover. (Matt 26:17) Yah said don’t do mixed worship. Deut 12:4 And don’t say well that’s not what it means to me. As for christmas and easter ……at it’s inception that is how the spirit realm sees things. Once your grafted into Yah people the Hebrew people follow their Elohim and live like Yah said to live. Eph 2. Why would people want to celebrate pagan christmas and easter when he has given us the Feast’s which point to Yahshua by the way and point to your walk individually as a believer in Yahshua. Yahshua (Jesus)had nothing to do with christianity. He gave the 10 Commandments to His people at My. Sinai. Repent. Renounce christianity. The Elohim of the Bible in not the god of christianity. So many false doctrines are in the church one being you can’t live a sinless life. Go look at John 5:14, Matt 5:48 there are many more talking about walking blameless. Btw the gentiles can be grafted into the people put you got to know who you are being grafted into. And it’s not the Ashkenazi that are over in the land now. Read Jeremiah 30:10 Is there peace over there…WHEN THE TRUE HEBREW PEOPLE …THE 12 TRIBES are back in their land there will be peace. Who are they? Gen 15, 1619-2019 The Trans Atlantic slave trade. 1619-2019. Deut 28 who are these people that the curses were on. Repent for anything your forefathers might have done to the Apple of His eye. They paid for their father’s sins. The great Hebrew Israelite Awakening. Yah wake up your people and get us back to the land. Shalom

Rob around 27 minutes you referred to the Pharisees as some sort of legalists, but Jesus saw then as sinners and hypocrites because they sinned, and they thought atonement came by sacrifices not faith. Jesus proved none were without sin, and said sin no more. They lacked faith in God and were deemed unbelievers due to sin, as Hebrews 3:12-13, they were not under grace as they lacked faith. But in the new covenant we are demanded not to do the same, as Hebrews 3:14-15, grace comes through faith in Christ. Rob what is "faith in him" to you?
@simonskinner1450
@simonskinner1450 3 месяца назад
Rob around 28 minutes you applied a concept in Christianity of God giving to you the righteousness of Jesus, that is misreading and misunderstanding imputation, imputation of righteousness is an accusation that you already have it, in the case of Abraham in Romans 4:5 by faith. Faith counts for righteousness because all that is not of faith is sin, as video #1 'Myths in so-called Christianity' I show works are sin. As Romans 4:5 means; "But to him who sins not, but believes on the Father that justifies (baptises as Romans 5) the ungodly, his faith (belief and obedience not to sin) is counted for righteousness (the law). Why would you believe it is suffocationing to not sin, as Jesus did, when it is a matter of outlook not to take advantage of others and be set free from guilt, to treat brothers as yourself, which is the law of righteousness. When you say you have "faith in him" it always seems to be receiving from him, not obedience to him.
