Livia and the plane tickets, Carlo flipping, AJ in college, Ralphie's change after his son almost died, Meadow as a gangster lawyer, Janice as a single mother
@@billymabum3514 AJ didn't seem to change at all after a college. Where's his Arc Paulie? But in all seriousness everything he did related to college was expected of him even before he got there. The girlfriend thing didn't even help much.
There should’ve been a plot line where Tony goes after Melfi’s attacker. A two part episode actually, I understand what David Chase was trying to go for but I still think Tony should’ve exacted his revenge on behalf of her, have it end with Melfi being satisfied that she got justice but now worried that not only did she pretty much tell Tony to kill someone but now He’ll hold that over her and act as if she owes him but unbeknownst to her that’s not what he was thinking at all, he was doing it because he genuinely cared for her and wanted to help
I understand the decision and the logic behind it, but Melfi was already pretty amoral about treating Tony, accepting his blood money and using him as some sort of sick entertainment. The morality of her choice is cut short. If she would've quietly dropped Tony after not telling him after the attack, it would've been more meaningful.
What I truly regret is Nancy Marchand’s unfortunate passing. Rumour has it, ( I think Chase confirmed it ), that the airline tickets plot would’ve lead to Livia testifying against Tony. That would’ve been thrilling.
If a lot of characters lasted longer, we could’ve had some good plot lines or even just funny scenes. Mikey Palmice and Richie convincing Junior to go to war with Tony. Richie and Feech plotting against Tony. Mikey and Ralph interacting. And how Jackie Sr would’ve handled a lot of scenarios as boss. Chris’s addiction, puss flipping, his kid robbing the card game, and how he would handle Blundetto killing Billy and Joey.
I like the Chris Hansen and Opie references. Mine is them killing that waiter in AC. That could've been a major investigation. A five-family underboss, the top 2 in NJ, 4-5 other made guys, (at least one an FBI informant). Their waiter is shot to death in the parking lot, ten minutes after they left, holding their $1200 unpaid bill? but they weren't even questioned??? The FBI should've been in the parking lot surveilling that dinner. Edit: I meant the Otis reference. Opie was his the kid, played by Ron Howard,
Thank you! I couldn't care much less about what happened with Valery lol. x) I guess my only request would be getting to see more of Angie Bompansero's success as a Soprano associate. She's so awesome! 💜
@@owie4070 Hahaha, yes! That scene pretty much made me cheer on my most recent watch. I also now, far too frequently, say "Cayenne. Like tha peppah." x) 🌶️
I agree, Angie could have been some master manipulator who lines up all the pieces on the board then BOOM! She takes out Tony and becomes boss of that pygmy thing they got down there.
I think the AJail plotline would have played out like this: -Tony pulls strings with locked up wise guys to get his son clicked up with them for protection -Tony makes it clear that under no circumstances is AJ to get mixed up with any crime on the inside. He should quietly do his time, and get out -AJ desperately tries to get mixed up in crime on the inside -The wise guys begrudgingly give him some small tasks Two ways to go from here: Either A: He messes up these simple tasks, gets in trouble, and elongates his sentence while annoying the wise guys protecting him as well as Tony Or B: He does these tasks successfully, and gets more involved with the life his father tried so hard to keep him away from Both of these stories keep to the theme of increasing Tony’s suffering, and while AJ is closer to Jackie Jr. than Furio, he could have a similar turnaround to Bobby’s.
I think it could be interesting if AJ either didn't serve time or he serves a short sentence. Then seeing him mess up wise guy tasks could create more problems for Tony, who tries to please his guys that have been wronged by AJ while still trying to keep AJ distant from the mob. Could be an interesting metaphor for Tony, who's trying to lead the double life, but ultimately lets crime seep into his family dynamics. They kinda hinted at this with AJ at the end too, when he and the Parisi kid rough up the guy from the party.
...a back story into the sheer genius of rusty millio realizing that the two italians blocking him into his driveway and asking for directions may pose a threat....
Even if we don't follow up on Valery, I think the Russians had a lot of potential. Tony seems to treat the Russians as equals, which is interesting because this is a parallel criminal organisation that presumably has its own motives, rules, and traditions - some of which may be incompatible with those of the Mafia. So much of the conflict in the show revolves around a shared culture and partial adherence to norms like "leave the family out of it", but I don't think we ever see Tony deal with a real criminal threat that doesn't observe those customs, or who has less of a stake in maintaining the existing power structure of the 5 families - which the Russians can never be a part of.
I would've like to see a flashback to Chrissy eating Tonys lo mein while Tony kills him. It would justify the killing and make us sympathise with Tony. Also a clip of Corsette barking. That would clear Chrissy a bit for sitting on it
Im happy I wasnt the only one who thought about Uncle Jun' and Richie. The whole show I was expecting that Uncle Jun' would be fighting back against Tony to retake control of the family using Richie as Mike's replacement. It would've been an amazing plotline how this old school gangster now an elder is still trying to regain his position as leader while also fighting against his worsening mental state. And in the end it could have been the same scene of Uncle Jun' in the ward, now a shell of himself, but it would've had that extra punch of seeing what a man could become upon the realization of failure of his life's greatest ambition - to be the Godfather now that Johnny Soprano and Dickie Moltisanti were out of the picture but to have it *denied* to him, trapped now within his own failing body and mind. But it never happened!!!!! He was resigned to just be the grandpa of the show collecting royalty checks from Tony like it was social security. Just watching TV, chilling with Bobby, going to funerals for fun, and slowly dying for 6 seasons.
I'm not trying to start shit or anything and I'm a big fan of the channel, but I think that the Melfi parking garage scene really need some kind of a warning on your part if they're in the video
I had a Mandela effect with the Dr. Melfi story. I thought her son ended up tracking Tony down and telling him what happened, so he could make sure his mom was avenged. After my most recent re-Watch I was pretty surprised when that didn’t happen, especially with all the build up of her son growing more and more angry over the situation and complaining about the justice system failing to deliver justice.
And I guess it wasn't that important to the series but I would have liked to see Melfi find a quality husband. IDK maybe instead of dumping Tony as a patient, she could have been offered a job as a psychiatry professor in Hawaii or something. Then all the other shrinks in Jersey tell Tony to get lost and suddenly he feels bad and realizes he should have been less of a dick to Melfi all those years because no other headshrinker will deal with him.
Would’ve loved to have seen how Ralphie and Richie felt about Vito especially since Richie was related to him, right? I forgot exactly if they were related.
This video and all the comments are blasphemy. How can you fantasize about bastardizing the most perfect show? My estimation of all you has just plummeted.
There’s a million roads to go down. Tony knocked up the blonde Christian girl at the garbage office and she is refusing to have an abortion because of religious reasons. Irina sees red and cuts off her cousins other leg. Richie Jr decides he wants to take over his fathers crew and we find out he owns the club where Vito gets snagged. Janice sells the records on eBay and invests the money into AJ’s budding club ownership career……
funny thing is they even had Steve Buscemi on contract for two seasons. I always thought it would have been cooler if they Tony actually stood tall for his cousin and they went to war with New York
#1 - I would like to have seen a moment where Carmella is confronted with undeniable evidence of Tony's horrors that she can't possibly ignore. She either decides right then and there she can't be a part of this anymore and saves her soul by walking right out the door and into a poor, modest life, perhaps as a waitress or something. Or, she realizes though she hates what Tony has done, she realizes she is much too weak to go it alone and accepts that she is trapped forever in a terrible marriage and life and there's no way out and she's going to hell. #2 - I would have liked to see how the kids deal with their own complicity as they grow up and come of age. It looked like Meadow was on her way to becoming a mob lawyer and an oblivious mob wife that makes Carmella look like a teetotaler. I think AJ, if he pulled it together, would have wanted to distance himself from the mob life and go it alone. #3 - I think it would have been fun to see more with Gabby, Sil's wife. I theorize she was the anti-Carmella. She totally understood Sil was a scumbag and fully supported it. Probably gave him advice on how to be a better criminal so he could bring home more cash.
We pretty much got the first one. The Jewish therapist told Carmela she was complicit in everything Tony did. And during one conversation with Tony, she asked about someone and he said “don’t make me make you an accessory after the fact”. Plus all the dreams she had about Adrianna. She knew who Tony was.
lol I love the idea of Silvio picking up more ruthless tactics over time cuz Gab is the angel/devil on his shoulder. She definitely seems the least delusional about their lifestyle.
Something that has always bothered me was when Phil is getting his car repaired, why is Angie so annoying and hysterical. Tony said he’s paying for it all so why is she even worried about costs? It’ll all get ‘taken care of’ I am boiling down her iq level as a character to a low level i know it just bothers me
You say you're disappointed how Furio's storyline ended and then you argue you wish one of the characters disappeared. Well, that literally happened with Furio. Also, AJ going to jail could have been interesting, but I thought what they did with him in season 6b was quite tremendous. He was a drag in previous seasons but in the final season they finally used him properly.
The biggest missed plot opportunity concerned my least favorite character on The Sopranos: AJ. But not yours. Less AJ, not more! When the moron jumped into the pool, he should have drowned. And then the plot lines could have explored the fallout, guilt and recriminations that resulted between Carmela, Tony and Melfi.
Phil gets out of the can but instead of resuming the gangster life he opens a grilled cheese shop. With 20 years of experience they could be pretty good.
Tony could have sent someone to watch over AJ in jail. Or if Tony did get indicted they could be in jail together ( even though Tony would probably go to Federal)
Gigi's heart attack only putting him out of action for a while instead of killing him, leading to him being sidelined and demoted. It'd be interesting to see Tony have to deal with a subordinate who isn't disloyal just not up to the job, seeing how Gigi dealt with his resentment with being replaced by Ralphie and how Tony might play the two of them off against each other.
Oh I was watching the Remember When episode just now and Beansie in a wheelchair there reminds me of your idea for Gigi. I guess they also wanted more mysterious lucky deaths playing a part in Ralph's arc, but I liked Gigi, and wish guys like him were kept around more, the unproblematic non-cartoonish henchmen types.
AJ getting out of the attempted murder was fine. I wish instead Tony made Christopher step in to help mentor AJ and AJ ends up getting into “The Life”. This shows juxtaposition to Tony’s story and being mentored by Christopher’s father. We got a taste when AJ was friends with the college students and they poured acid on the other students feet, but with Christopher behind the wheel the violence could be reasoned to AJ. This justification of violence could lead to AJ justifying the attempt on Junior.
Adding the clip of Fleece Johnson in the “big boy prison” context had by crying laughing. AJ would’ve known a commodity more important than food and water.
Eugene Pontecorvo could have absolutely gone on the run , especially with that money lol does no one ever think about leaving the country? (besides Furio who is basically just going home) Lilyhammer with Steven Van Zandt comes to mind
My problem with the open plotlines isn't necessarily that they're open but that it's unclear whether or not they're open on the first watch-through. Like in hindsight I can see that Melfi had a complete arc in the situation with her attacker, and it doesn't bother me that she never told Tony. But on the first watch-through, that sense of resolution doesn't come through because you don't know that her decision not to tell him is final. That only really happens when you get through several episodes without it being mentioned, then you can look back and realize that was the end of that plot thread. This isn't the end of the world, like I said it works fine in hindsight it's just a little awkward as it first happens. I'm also not really sure what the writers could do to make the resolution more apparent.
These are all so bad. Btw for your number 2 Furio did leave and not come back. It’s good because it was left to us to wonder if he was killed by Tony’s contacts, or if he is safe because of Annalise.
I feel like "The Blue Comet" should have wrapped up Season 6 and have the NJ/NY war be the entire focal point of a seventh season. The entire ending of the series felt a little bit too rushed.
Eugene and his wife should have been the one allowed to leave. He was just not as important as may others. There are a couple of mob figures who have left and are out in the public. Additionally they would have known where to find him if something came up.
I would have also liked to see a whole season where Chrissy and Tony go to war. Their friendship turned rivalry was built up too much to not explode in a bigger way. Also, Carlo was going to flip but everyone forgets Tony walked in on Carlo having killed Fat Dom, so it's mutually assured destruction. Carlo can't flip on Tone because T will just turn around and finger Carlo for Fat Dom's murder.
I wish there would be a spin-off series where Vito decides to continue in his ways and gets into all sorts of hoohah and misadventures. The voiceover narration will be fantastic.
Why don’t we talk about how they ruined Phill’s plotline like how his grandfather ruined his family legacy by changing their name to Leotardo. He never got retribution for his kid brother Billy. Poor boy.
There was an episode near the end of the series where Tony and Christofuh rip off and humiliate a couple of bikers (the Vipers if memory serves), and it was never mentioned again. I remember thinking that in the real world those guys would never let that go. I always thought this incident should have escalated into an ongoing storyline where the Jersey crew goes to war against the Vipers, possibly even finding that they've finally bitten off more than they can chew. Might have been a more satisfying way of ending the series.
Furio leaving that quick was absolutely insane... All that furniture just gone. 😂 I also don't blame him for dipping.. Even if Tony never suspected Furio tried to kill him, it was just a matter of time before Carm said something in a argument to piss Tony off.
Honestly The Sopranos S+ tier plot ends with Season 2. Worst has to be the Gay Vito plot...last season of the show and half of it is a slapstick comedy spinoff.
Be it the state pen or feds wise guys and their families don't really get touched. They still hold a LOT of sway. LCN isn't as big or powerful as it once was but they still have a lot of power, they're well connected with long standing ties, and still have a lotta guys behind the wall. So all it would take is Tony reaching out to the right person, probably throwing a little cash their way, and AJ would be under somebody's wing in no time and basically be untouchable. The downside to this is it would almost certainly set AJ on the mafia path even when he gets out so his future as a civilian would likely be shot. I definitely felt more coulda been done with those wars but looking at how many real life mafia wars have gone it was very accurate. So I can't complain too much. David Chase seemed to try to be very careful to avoid glorifying the violence and all that so he probably did it for that reason too. I have a few myself, Furio's storyline being a big one. But my biggest is probably seeing Tony B's story through at least 2 seasons as originally planned, if not to the very end. I'd actually loved to have seen him in his killer mode fighting NY and maybe being killed instead of Bacala or Sil. But they for some reason wrote themselves into a corner when he killed Billy and shot Phil and that was that. I also wish Feech coulda hung around longer but it seemed like his fate was unavoidable due to issues with the actor from the few stories I can remember. Another big one for me is the full story behind Ralphie and the abuse he survived at his mother's hand that seemed to be a big part of why he was the way he was. Joey Pants in an interview talked about scenes they shot regarding that but none of it ever aired and I think it woulda been cool to see another character like Tony that was a monster that was made, not born, but I guess they didn't agree and cut it.
If Olivia never passed away season 3 would have started with her testifying on Tony for the airline tickets. They talked about that on the 25th anniversary it blew my mind imagine if she never passed in real life
Near the start of the first season they talked about AJ potentially having ADD, I wish they maybe looked at Tony too when it came to this because he had pretty much all the symptoms discussed about AJ. I think it would been interesting but I also like the psychological side of the show a lot!
Not having Tony and Carmella educate Meadow and AJ about Christopher Columbus was a MAJOR missed opportunity. You can't judge ppl of the last by today's standards (presentism). Instead, the writers showed their left-leaning biases by just having Tony wave his hands in the air simply saying "In this house Christopher Columbus is a hero!" with no reasoning or logic behind it.
Plot Twist - Phil Leonardo always thought Vito was a cutie bear and they act upon their urges and thus a new onion peel to the Jersey/NY storyline is born.
