Fun fact, Bluey and Bingo are voiced by actual children whose identity's are kept secret because they know weirdos would harass them if they ever found out who they are.
Which is why it’s very clear the “hiatus” is the end and they’re ripping the bandaid off slowly. They won’t recast and if they wait even a year their voices will have started to change too much. They’re working on borrowed time already.
Bluey is legitimately one of the first children’s shows for YOUNG young children that not only doesn’t talk down to them but doesn’t talk down to their parents watching with them. It’s so refreshing
It's also existed in the past in the US, Mr. Rogers and old school Sesame Street both fit that bill. It's just been a bit of a dead period for good children's programming.
@@jongabalis5964Naah as a fellow high dude who actually isnt high for once I’ll tell you that he’s saying that a lot of cartoons include condescending talk about either the kids watching or the parents of the kids, and that he likes that Bluey doesnt do this.
Just a little point on Bluey being a cultural export. Our country is VERY proud of bluey being a global success, we had a whole ass "bluey day" in Melbourne a couple months ago. Stores decorated themselves with a bluey theme and on Bourke street there were people in bluey costumes. I think this is all being done (at least partly) to get the public to feel a sort of patriotism to the show, so in the case that creative control does get taken away from its creator there will be massive australian uproar.
@@traceable7875 he's meaning that here in Aus we say "arse". That said, some of my mates spell arse "ass" (pronounced arse) as well, so he's still true blue far as I'm concerned
@@MortalBane It is British Broadcasting Corporation. I think that comment was just trying to be playful, but the original meaning has nothing to do with Bluey.
As an animator on the show, I think few people know that before Bluey was even an idea, most of production (animation, art direction, sound editing, voice acting and writing) already knew Joe personally as his university students, previous co-workers and his own family members. It's an intensely personal show and I was one of the few who didn't know Joe personally before coming on board but I was from the university he used to study and teach at. The show could not exist in any capacity without him, he's at the heart of it all.
Second time I’ve seen you floating around! Honestly, you were right about Bluey being for everyone. And I can’t imagine how you must feel to have been able to be apart of it! ❤ I love how personal this show is for him and cannot foresee anyone else being able to recreate this form of art. 🙏💗
If your legitimately an animator on the show, that's really cool. Thanks for making the animation such a joy to watch. It feels like a lot of love went into it. Whether or not Bluey continues, I look forward to seeing what the animation team does next.
Question: If there were ever a Bluey movie (in all honesty that would probably be bigger than Avengers: Endgame or even Avatar in terms of box office returns) would Australian money or Disney’s American money most likely fund the majority of the project?
I’ve heard people say that the original idea was to have the show be more adult focused but it developed into a show the whole family could watch together. Is there any validity behind this, it’s really interesting but I’ve never seen anything besides forum chats about it.
American children developing Australian accents from bluey isn’t surprising to me at all. As an Australian, I have family that have started developing American accents and using American words as opposed to Australian accents and words simply due to how much content on RU-vid / TV is American. It is quite funny how it works both ways tho
Portugal's news outlets have already reported that kids there are talking using Brazilian Portuguese dialect and accents instead of Portuguese Portuguese because of kids watching too much RU-vid content made by Brazilians
I went to Ireland recently and talked to a mother who was kinda bummed that her kids and all the kids she knows don't have Irish accents anymore, they all talk like Americans because they're raised on RU-vid which is pretty American dominated (Mr. Beast etc)
Fiona Hutchison, an actress on the daytime drama One Life to Live, speaks in an English accent [because her parents are from the UK] despite growing up in America her entire life.
Bluey is honestly one the few kids show that does not drive u crazy when ur kid is hooked. The cocomelon show makes you want to jump out the moving car.
Yes! My child can watch it only when I’m working, behind closed doors. There is a list of shows my child is not allowed to watch for various reasons, this is the only one that is on the list because I would need to jump out of the window.
@@mcskrzypekalways let your children watch some horror stuff. It helps them to not be scared in real situations. My mom got rid of almost all my early fears from just horror movies alone lol(please don’t take this advice if the child is younger then 10, it could lead to trauma)
I remember playing Overwatch, and one of the people on my team has his mic open and you could hear his daughter. He said she liked Bluey and it was so wholesome.
I hope Disney never gets FULL control over bluey. Brumm should 100% walk away, and give Disney and Bob iger the BIGGEST middle finger in media history.
Well that may be nice for us, it would be the dumbest move ever to not take the money, enough to have your grandgrandgrandchildren born as millionaires
@@ttst7261Retaining artistic integrity is not dumb at all. The best shows out there end on a high note and on the creator’s terms instead of selling out to be milked indefinitely. If Brumm were to ever step away, the show would not survive. He knows what he’s doing and we can expect the show to end at some point when it needs to end.
My classmate loves this show. For context, we are 4th year college students and Filipino. I asked her about her reasons why she's watching a show like Bluey and she said Bluey feels too real and the parents in show is something she wished she had. It felt cathartic for her to see parents have emotional intelligence and admitted that she got emotional over it. The business around Bluey is interesting, but for me, I just wish this would make family-oriented corporations like Disney would realise that being family-friendly doesn't mean to have shows that are sterialized and censored.
For me the show Owl House did hit very hard with what I was dealing with in my life. But Disney rushed the show to a finish, just because the main cast isn't bland and straight enough for them. It's really such a shame that all they want is these sterilized business man approved shows
bruh, i have twin 3 year olds and 2 other kids at 4 and 6.... they love the connection between the kids and parents. Bandit is the rad dad who also makes mistakes and teaches parents how to handle odd situations. half of raising kids can be learned by watching bluey
I know the impact Bluey has outside of Australia, but it cannot be understated enough how big the impact is here within Australia too. Some of the episodes just hit so hard, during a family reunion we were all watching the Bluey cricket episode with my baby cousin and it is the first time I have ever seen my father, grandfather, and uncle all cry. I hadn't seen any of them cry before that, let alone all at once. Not gonna pretend I'm hard, cried right with them.
@@simcity4111I mean I can tell you, but out of context it won’t give you the emotional impact of just watching the episode, it’s seven minutes long, worth the watch. It’s my second favorite episode next to Camping which had me crying for months every time I watched it
I'm from the US and I lived in Brisbane for 6 months along Southbank. The episode "Ice Cream" was such a pleasant surprise for me. I recognized every place and remembered walking along the water and under the flowers and everything. That episode is special to me for that.
Melbourne and Sydney have been fighting about who’s the best city for so long, only to be plunged into irrelevance within 3 years, as a Melbournian, I accept my defeat
@@lordofstuff_ Yeah, I don't know either. My theory was that the baby was really tired or just really enjoyed the show; whenever I get hyped about something I also start to tear a little.
On a more cultural/social level, Bluey is like the inverse of the Tate movement. It's legitimately healing for alot of stressed, nihilistic young teens and stressed, emotionally absent parents, while being a great show for kids to enjoy too. I really love it for that alone, it's undoing the spreading of the most toxic parts of the sigma movement to millenials and gen z, even just a little
Yes it's Australia's largest cultural export in decades, probably ever, and we really couldn't be happier. It's funny, heartwarming, and extremely faithful to Australian life. The backyard cricket episode is being touted as the most important piece of cricket media EVER and has singlehandedly done more to promote cricket to America than the ICC has ever done. This is especially funny considering the upcoming cricket world cup in the US, which a lot of people still don't know or care about.
@@MrZoomah Nah it already beat the wiggles. Wiggles reached their peak around the time the internet started hitting off and they only really had a reach with English speaking audiences. Bluey gained fame through the internet and social media and it doesn't lose significant value when it's translated into different language around the world.
Believe me when I say, I would NOT blame the creator of bluey for taking what would almost certainly be a life changing amount of money to pull a George Lucas. But it would be so fucking cool and funny if he didn’t
The shows’s last three episodes are about his decision I believe. He can make his children’s lives infinitely more stable by taking a fat bag from Disney. Or he can give them safety and legacy in a concluded show that the whole world loves. By ripping the sign from the ground Bandi- I mean Joe decided that he doesn’t want Disney’s contract. He’s not selling. The house. The show. I’m getting emotional as I type this.
The worst thing that could happen to bluey is disney buying it and changing the setting away from Australia to try and appeal more to the wider American audience. Being a local and spotting landmarks and things I see every day in the show is so rare since 1 it is Australia and 2 it isn't Melbourne or Sydney, I think it would lose some of it's charm if it lost it's niche Brisbane setting.
Yeah and part of the charm as an American and getting a window into Australian culture. It’s so interesting! I may be a 22 year old woman with no kids but this show was just so cute and wholesome lol
As an American, I also hope it doesn’t change just to change. I like getting a little window into another country and culture like this. To me it’s undoubtedly part of the charm (we Americans tend to like Australian things).
It focuses on teaching kids emotional lessons rather than mathematics and reading based ones. As Chili once said "nourish their hearts for now, and we can nourish their brains later"
as an australian im glad that we can finally share that the majority of our population are different breeds of dogs constantly sharing their wisdom with the youth and speaking with the softest australian accents you could find oath cnt
As a new parent, this show has saved my wife and I’s sanity believe it or not… its the only thing our 6 month old would watch and stop him from loosing his mind. His first birthday was a 100% Bluey themed party. Your research is spot on, we pay disney plus specifically to watch bluey and nothing else. Awesome episode, A
The episode about parenting struggles and fears where a pink poodle mom of 9 turns to Chilli (Bluey’s mom), facing the camera and say "You’re doing great" makes me sob uncontrollably. I wish I was as good of a parent as those "cartoon dogs". I’m trying though. I’m trying!

As someone who works for the ABC, evvvvveryone loves Bluey. It's basically their child. There is soooo much marketing done for Bluey even internally, it's wild. Like, even my boss in group chat was like "Please people watch the Bluey special so I have something to talk about on Monday :D" Honestly, it's just really well done from a marketing standpoint, and from what I hear it's THE show for children AND parents. Honestly, I can kinda see why Bluey is the ABC's beloved child.
I’m interested in how much ABC benefits from Bluey, because it seems like they only have viewership rights in three countries and nothing else. That seems like a shame, especially because the ABC is obviously much more supportive of the original creator’s vision than Disney. It’d be nice if they got more benefits which could be used to reinvest in more ABC Kids shows, particularly with the same studio if possible. I’m surprise the ABC doesn’t have more ways of showing films/TV overseas because I always see people asking to watch shows like Utopia which have gotten really popular online
@@Sagealeena As I understand ABC is limited by 1) its EdPols, and 2) no overseas coverage outside of iView. While iView is great, not many people know about it as opposed to Netflix, Stan, or Disney+. It really is unfortunate, If iView was more popular we'd definitely see more shows on the ABC go viral outside of Australia. Disney just holds a monopoly on most media, so it's a tough market to work with.
First tattoo is bluey related. Bluey is in my top 3 shows of all time. It’s made me a better parent by far. I look up to bandit. My kids lives are better because of Bluey. Genuinely.
I know this is a business channel, but Bluey is obviously a work of love and art. If Brumm wants to stop it, it needs to stop. No one who loves Bluey wants it to become season 25 Simpsons.
I'm surprised I didn't see this sentiment more in the comments. Everyone loves Bluey because of the writing and storytelling. It's something fresh in the media landscape. If Disney buys total control, they are going to ruin the charm and turn it into something it's not.
I had no idea bluey was so big lol. We started it on a recommendation from a friend- not a recommendation for our kid specifically, but an episode about bluey being a "butt-scooter", because my wife was worried about our kid not crawling the normal way. The show helped my wife relax a bit about if and when the kiddo would walk, and that it was ok that she wasn't crawling in the normal way. Now we're so buried in bluey merch it's ridiculous, and it's the only kids show my kids like that I don't hate, and in fact enjoy. I genuinely hope the original creator doesn't let disney get their hands on it, because they will, without any doubt in my mind, completely ruin it.
Brumm just straight up ending the show after The Sign would be the most baller move in television history. Everyone would lose their damn minds over Bluey not continuing, but that would legitimately be one of the most legendary runs in TV (and I'm all for it)
Honestly, same. I would be bummed to not have more episodes but how cool would it be to drop this masterpiece on the world and then just stop because you felt it was time. Makes it so much more special than if it’s sold and turned into just another basic Disney kids show.
I was working in IT in 2020 and one of the team members posted an episode in the teams channel. It seemed like a great excuse to watch bluey at work to me.
As someone from Brisbane Australia. I cant help but feel a lot of Pride to see my culture in a piece of media blow up so much. I love this not well known city and my country so it means a lot.
The thing about bluey is that it has some top tier writing. It doesn't shy away from difficult but real topics that kids deserve to learn about and packages them in a very digestible format that kids understand too. it also teaches kids to always see the positive in every situation
I’m a huge Bluey fan and I would not want Disney to own Bluey because they were ruin it. Just like they did with a Star Wars franchise and what’s going on with Marvel. Look at the reason record that they’re losing a lot of money on some of the new movies. It is a bad idea to sell it Disney.
As a lifeguard at a pool in australia, the majority if kids are wearing Bluey themed bathers and i often see parents wearing stuff dont forget that for the whole month of February, in each state of Australia one of the local Bunnings (national hardware store in Australia) was briefly rebranded to Hammerbarn, named after the hardware store in the show which had merch selling out before the end of the morning

I mean... don't get me wrong, SpongeBob is a great show, but it's not good for young kids lol. There have been studies that suggest it literally gives kids younger than 8 inattention issues, which kind of explains Zoomers a lot, now that I think of it. edit: switched from ADHD to inattention issues
As someone that really enjoys Bluey despite not being it's target audience, I really would love to see Bluey end. Every media becomes dull the longer it exists, and to have Bluey, the biggest show out there, to have as their final lesson the importance and beauty of "endings" would be big for the current media landscape that is filled with carcasses of franchises that refuse to end, and for about everyone that has been spoiled by "never ending products" to learn to appreciate good things while they last. However, I would also really like for that ending to be a more concrete thing, I can't see "The Sign" and "Surprise" as real endings for the series, half because there is no confirmation of wether this is really the end, so you can't really watch it "as" an ending. But also because the episode contents don't really frame those episodes as actual endings
Big brain move from big brain marketer, make a spelling mistake in the first five seconds and bait dozens of comments -> more interaction -> better for algorithm That's my streamer 😌
I think many people don't truly understand just how culturally significant bluey is and will be to Gen alpha. Not just watching the show, but as a dad, it has had MAJOR influences on my parenting styles. How would Bandit handle this is legitimately how I figure things out when I feel stuck and don't know what to do with my daughter's problems.
watching bluey has been the sole thing in my life that has swayed me, a bitter nerd, towards maybe wanting kids one day, its a beautiful show and its great to see a good example of positive healthy parenting on TV, I hope it improves future family's lives.
I'll also be another whistle blower and say that Bluey has impacted the way I interact with kids myself. When I went up to Vermont for a family trip, whenever my little cousins visited the cabin we were staying at or visiting them for, I took a little bit of the mannerisms Bandit does when playing with his children. Which is listening to them and taking their play seriously, no matter how ridiculous or silly it was. I wasn't as boisterous as Bandit is, but you know what, my cousins ended up gravitating towards me because of the fact I took them seriously. And enjoyed my company. It's incredible how much a childrens show can REALLY make or break influence on people, in this case for the better! The rarest instance of positive and awesome copycat behaviors!
The thought of parents of gen alpha being people around my age who consume similar content is… well I guess Bluey is probably a better teacher of family values than Euphoria or Jujutsu Kaisen
As an Australian, ABC kind of botched it. ABC is taxpayer funded as an independent TV channel. They missed out on the merchandise opportunity that could've self-funded all the rest of the work the channel does..
Somebody at the ABC dropped the ball on this. Can you imagine being *that* person who has to explain to senior management and the government why they signed away billions in revenue rights!
the fact that Disney is worried about this one dude retiring from one of their current best shows, of which they have made billions of dollars from, but they CAN'T BE BOTHERED TO PAY HIM MORE! Like I am sure if they offered him 200 million dollars for the next 5 years or working on bluey, this dude would stick around
Brumm potentially choosing between the integrity of the show and the fattest bag - I honestly think if he wants to stop doing the show, he should sell. He earned it, and the show will still have its legacy even if the big wigs mess it up. Of course he could have both if he simply chooses the correct buyer. It is my humble opinion that Mr. Wonderful needs to do the right thing here and step in.
@@skarloeythomas5172 I disagree. His legacy would just be bluey season 1-3. Then the public would all know that he exited with a bag when he wanted to end the show and the downfall is all thanks to the corporation. I mean George Lucas legacy for making Star Wars is still cemented. And we mostly blame Disney for all the new shitty Star Wars movies.
@@4purs The public wouldn't know shit, that's why they are the public. The public didn't know a thing about Lucas or Star Wars, forcing him to sell it in the first place. Star Wars is more obvious what was George and what wasn't, but Bluey is going to be animated the same and styled the same. George's legacy is still be tainted with the amount of revisions and revivals Disney is doing with it. They can do the same to retcon and change original Bluey.
It has to be really hard as a creative to reach an ending you’re happy with only to be told you need to make more. Some things weren’t made to last forever :(
@@lamsmiley1944 Same, I kind of can't see the guy who's apparently based so much of this work on his personal values being motivated by the cash dynamics. Lucas was what, 30, 40 years deep on his multi million dollar property and established in a celebrity mindset. This guy reminds me more of what I've seen of most people who actually do the grunt work of creative arts are like. They tend to be motivated by integrity and passion. That's what makes Bluey magnetic. Did you know that there's a whole episode of Bluey that specifically references an obscure historical work of animation and photography? It's not a joke that was made because everyone would get it. It was a homage to a personal experience of the people who made it. That shit doesn't can easily. If the guy pursued making Bluey out of his dynamics with his children.... And they're growing up..... It's not gonna matter how much money is on the table if the actual well is dry. Whatever comes out of the deal is not going to be what they paid for.
So, to be fair. I had no idea that Bluey was so popular until very recently. My wife and i are childless and in our 30s. We are thinking of starting a family and a close friend of ours recommended we watch Bluey because it was a very accurate show when it came to some of the hurtles of raising kids. (They have two kids themselves.) Needless to say we loved watching the show but also made us really think about how a child would affect our life.
I genuinely watch the show to de-stress over this university finals season. I am fortunate enough to see reflections of my parents in the show, and can honestly say I did some of the exact same things with my little brother that Bluey and Bingo do when we were their age. It is such a relaxing show to watch. Also, Sleepytime might be the best episode of any show I've ever seen.
I've never been one to get my kids merchandise with characters because its all so expensive, but we love Bluey so much, that we have a blanket, stuffed animals, the whole 9 yards, and disney plus is definitely only being used for Bluey. I'll be sad to see it go, but it's just so great with everything, I've even picked up some good ways to be a better parent and that feels great. Best show to ever air in our house. ( Still love Scooby-Doo tho! )
Impressive video that really drew me into the story of Bluey and the future of the show. Even more impressive commitment to being a fan of a kids show. I'm actually finding myself wondering if I'm missing out.
Me too. I don't usually like slice of life shows, but now I'm really wondering if I'm missing out. The only slice of life shows I've really tolerated was Nichijou, Azumanga Daioh, and SpongeBob. Those heavily lean into the comedy aspect though.
1:15 I legit never heard of Bluey till yesterday! My cousin came to visit with her little son, he's two and half, 3-ish, so my Mom offered to turn on Disney Channel for him. I asked quote on quote "Did they turn Peppa Pig into Dogs now or what's that?". So thanks for answering my question lmao
It is so funny to me that in the Daily Wire's attempt to capture the Bluey magic they ignored one of the most basic design decisions Bluey made and made the girls pink and the boys blue
Lmao, what’s even funnier is that up until the Sign, DailyWire - mostly Matt Walsh - seemed to have nothing but absolute praise for Bluey, hailing it as one of the very few genuinely wholesome and “non-w0k€” children’s shows in recent years. Then, very soon after the Sign was released, Matt released a video where he ridiculed adults for crying at the ending of the episode, unironically calling them weak and emotionally immature. Naturally he also angrily ranted about the part of the episode where one child character very casually and briefly mentions his two mums. I have a feeling that Matt Walsh and DW never actually really liked Bluey and always “had a feeling that the show was going to go w0k£ eventually, just like all other mainstream media”. 🙄 In any case, now we have the true intention behind Chip Chilla - to provide an “””non-w0k€””” alternative to Bluey for all of the homophobic parents out there.
@@ddd-op5wy That’s certainly possible. I don’t know for sure. I mean, given how ridiculously controversial _and_ glorified it is these days for any children’s media to even remotely insinuate s@me-s£x couples, I personally find it unlikely that the writers wouldn’t notice the unintentional implications if that was the case. Regardless, it’s a complete non-issue and it shows just how insanely hypocritical and reactionary people like Matt Walsh are when it comes to children’s media and LGBTQ+ stuff.
Man I've been waiting for this one. normally I'Il watch the vods when the concept seems really good but this one seemed so cool I had to wait for the full Atrioc video. Thanks Big A!
Id love to see Brumm create the show around the same concept of him raising his kids. But having the characters actually grow up so he can keep relating to what he's making. Since he has the rights and noncompetes are getting thrown out, I feel like he can do a lot himself with his own studio.
We havent started much screentime with my 2 year old, but we watched a bluey episode to get a feel for it. It was the baby race one and that hit me right in the feels sack lol
This is my favorite episode I've seen of marketing Monday in a long time. I would love to see more episodes like this that focus on a single topic and flesh it out completely
One idea I’ve heard for keeping the show alive was having the characters grow up with the audience. As Bluey’s target audience grows up, so do the characters! It’s an interesting concept and it could be interesting to see Ludo tackle more mature topics as Bluey and Bingo become teenagers
100% I think if Blumms issue is really not being able to relate, this could fix it. But it really is in his discretion to how it should end, and I think he has the resources to make that happen. Without Disney would be great.
I think if-oops let me restate that, I think WHEN Bluey returns from its hiatus, regardless of who has creative control, it will have competition. Chip Chilla, being a political ripoff, doesn't count in my book, but eventually, some show, regardless of nation or whether it's on CN or PBS Kids, will figure out the secret formula and be a hit without ripping off the show. It will be to Bluey how Sesame Street to Mister Rogers, (insert slice of life sitcom) to Simpsons, Spongebob to Arthur you get the point. I think there will be tons of Bluey-esque shows in the following years as Bluey became a very viral hit in the 2nd half of 2022, so by the 3rd or 4th quarter of this year, we should see some Bluey-inspired shows, most bad, but some good(it takes 2-3 years to make a cartoon). I only have PBS Kids(no cable) so hopefully they make the next Bluey. But for now, we'll see. With this being said, I think Brumm needs to know this, or at least be prepared for the event that a cool new kid comes to town. Not only does he need to evaluate what direction to go, but how to stay ahead of the game.
I really hope Joe Brumm doesn't sell it to disney, there is an extremely small chance they will capture even 1% of the soul that went into every episode unless they play it EXTREMELY well and don't hand it off to some rando. there's some stuff disney makes that's pretty good, like bad batch and clone wars, and xmen 97, but those are more action oriented than home adventures, and 2D story and emotion like owl house and amphibia have ended (with rumors that disney killed them rather than they ended naturally). if he does stop being the main guy, what I want to have happen is a trusted animator takes over and potentially Joe is more of an advisor so he still has input. or maybe give it over to Jeff Marsh and Dan Povenmire, since they made a little show called PHINEAS AND FERB! (one of the greatest kids shows of all time) and they're coming back to make more, this would put a TON of pressure on those 2 since they have to revive a beloved show from the 2000s as well as as continue a current fan favorite.
I always think about the first time I heard about Bluey was from my older cousin who had his first kid and he asked me un-prompted if I had heard about this amazing new show he was watching on Disney Jr and I was so confused
I remember watching piece of an episode when I was checking up on my lil sis, wondering what kind of children's show slop it might be, I ended up watching an extra episode with her. Honestly you can feel the passion and like how real the characters can be. It was like towards the middle of the pandemic. I also thought it was a Disney show.
I graduated from college last year and I knew people who were watching bluey unironically and I was like uh isn’t that for very young children like under 7yos? But not so long ago I was visiting family in the hospital and bluey was on the TV and oddly enough I ended up watching it for like 40 minutes lmao
I honestly think he'll regret it if he sells it to disney. It seems to be the one common denominator. He either has to continue it with himself as some sort of creative overhead or end it.
I genuinely hope Brumm decides to stop making the show, some melange of upper middle managers of these companies go off the deep end Red Robin style from how bad they fumbled the bag, and that the general public learns about this whole story and are radicalized to the degree of initiating a bourgeois revolution that makes the US more social democratic than it currently is.
Yoo Bluey is great. great lessons, for both kids and parents. the parents one are sometimes just a look or a phrase that like in real life, means nothing to kids, but hits hard for adults. from being a appreciative of parents, to losing friends, to miscarriage, to be a first time mom... its crazy how all tose things can speak to everyone watching, no matter the age
Bluey and other animated shows created in Australia in recent times have done a lot in reviving an industry that was otherwise once not a huge sector such as animation. The government, which granted financial support into Bluey when it first started gaining traction, has seen the potential of it and has been giving grants/loans to studios and start-ups looking to get their animations going and has invested a lot into universities for animation - as well as taking up a part of production costs for overseas studios that end up making films in Australia (and you'd be surprised to know how many of the Hollywood-based films you see today are shot/made in Australia). This means those who want to pursue animation, or anything in film, have a higher chance at gaining a foothold in the industry and has attracted foreign investment into the economy like never before.
They cut the animation sector by getting rid of quotas for animation so not as many shows are being made now, as they told us that ppl just aren’t watching it and are watching streaming sites. Australian anim is in a very dire position with American studios pulling out and our own gov cutting quotas so most of us right now are unemployed and looking to switch to other careers.
Brumm is kind of a king for his approach to the show. I like Bluey and think it's good for kids but honestly it would be such a chad move to walk away without giving away his concept to Disney. It would be such a refreshing thing to see a creative like him show a mega corporation that they cannot just throw money at everything.
