Nick marches to a different drummer than most of us and a portion of that attributes to the bizarre . Another portion is nothing more than bad luck but he's been able to overcome and move forward not allowing negativity to affect him in any way. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Nick and I wish him well!

Troy Steiner was the NCAA champ at 142 in 1992. Wrestled for Iowa. The next season he dropped to 134 but that was just to make room for McIlravy to come out of redshirt.

Another underlooked piece was coming into the 2021 Olympic trials he was having a hot streak internationally. He also had trained in Russia among other places with the Olympic champ to be Uguev. Not saying he would have been olympic champ but he had momentum and the tournament style suits him well. His offensive production was also flowing very strong and I'm sure he was thinking about rematching the Russian in the back of his head amongst others. If he was training with that in mind (you know he probably wanted a rematch or to prove he could hang) he would have been the US57kg IMO

"Find an example of anyone who's won a title at a weight, goes down later and wins a title. Who does that?" Um, hello. Louden Swain.

Geoff Baum did it at Okla State back in the 70's. The former Allentown, PA state champ at Wm. Allen won his first at 190 and his second at 177. Look it up. High School teammate of Olympic medalist and World Champion Stan Dziedzic.

If Nick didn’t get injured that PSU team woulda been considered the best ever. That team is still considered one of the greatest; They had 146 points without Nick at the finals. Imagine he was there.

Geoff Baum (Oklahoma State) won a title in 1970 at 190lbs then dropped down to 177 in 1971 and won another title.

Thank god someone finally pointed this out so explicitly. Trying to follow Surianos career has made me dizzy. At some point I began to wonder if burnout had caused me to concoct the entire legend from my imagination. The whole thing is like some fever dream.

If Hollywood pinched this story, you would say it was too good to be true. I forgot about his first year at Penn State. I did not know that he was actually entered in the NCAA tournament. He has had some bad luck, but also some amazing bounce backs. I think he the first guy to win a title at one we a weight class, and then drop down to a lower weigh class and win?
@chase86903

7:03 the answer to the question is nobody 😂 Suriano was legit the first one in D1 NCAA history to win a title and then drop down a weight class and win again

I hope Austin DeSanto decides to comes back with his last year and wins Nationals he is always so close. I lost in state finals and it still bugs me but in my case it was mental guess if you know you tried your best it is something to be proud of. Either way 2nd place sucks. I would take 3rd over 2nd wrestling back for 3rd is way better finishing with a win.

Maybe he doesn't want to be part of a corrupt society. He wants to be Himself. He wants to be free and be HIMSELF. Something 99% don't understand.

Nope. Only reason why he won anything is because he didn’t have to wrestle Spencer Lee.

Suriano is a very misunderstood individual and I think alot of the negative feedback he gets is because he has made some Incredibly dumb decisions, he leaves the toughest program in the nation because he wants to be closer to home from my understanding then he wins a title then leaves um ok? Then he goes to Michigan, if you aren't loyal don't expect people to be loyal to you and unless he changes his wrestling style his biggest attribute is his defense which is boring, I get it a win is a win but if you want that penn iowa following them you need to put points on the board which he doesn't do, I know some people will complain about my comments but take personal feelings out of it im not attacking him as a person just some of the decisions he's made over the years, I don't respect basketball players who change teams every other year chasing the dollar so this shouldn't be any different
