This was the best lineup The Black Crowes ever had... I can listen to the entirety of Southern Harmony and musical companion all day, not a bad song on that album.
I don't know how to describe it, but this band live is a unique thing. It's like the song exists apart from them and they're going along for the ride. To be able to create, produce and perform a song like this... I can't imagine it. Music is an amazing thing.
One element to it, i believe, is that you can't quite put your finger on it. Gives is some mystery or something, then you are on another plane. This song does that, so it takes you there...wherever that is...
If anyone is underrated it’s fucking Rich Robinson. Dude is mainly a rhythm player but man he can play. Some of the best riffs ever in rock we’re written by that man. This really shows off his lead skills.
Fuckin Marc Ford is so much the shit man...He was so responsible for their brilliant sound back then. They just never captured it the same way since those days....this was just pure magic. They really need to get him back in the studio again!
Get The Black Crowes back to Glastonbury as quick as possible Damn they would blow every fucking band off the stage Gutted I wasn't there for this 🤠🤓🖤🖤
" Kiss me baby on an Easter Sunday day , and make my worries go away " Man were they in total sync or what? I liked when they had Chris Trujillo on percussion ( from the group TOTO session player ). Thank you !
i just gotta say, yeah, Marc Ford is the shit and the best of the Crowes was with him, many would say. but sheeit, when i see Eddie Harsch, i think wow, what a weird motherfucker, and i think fuck yes, THIS is the Crowes!! and to hear some of that soulful keys (Descending!), you know that band was deep!
Is the the tour for Souther Harmony & Musical Companion? They should've brought the background singing ladies out with them. I miss their sound in this tune. Thats my fav Black Crowes album.
One of the few times Criss's voice may have been strained. He obviously dropped the Octive to a pitch that fit into that zone.... Definitely Worked !! Here It Is Late 2023 And STILL AMAZED ! Fuckin Loved These Guys !!!❤😅
I was there that year,The Stone Roses were supposed to headline the main stage but John Squires fell off his bike and broke his collarbone,Pulp were a late replacement. The Crowes however were consistently fucking brilliant as they always are, completely lose my shit to this song every time i hear it.
They were sidestage (at least Noel was) and followed, the Crowes probably concerned they couldn't follow well. Same thing with Pink Pop '93. Word was Kravitz and the band were sweating bullets realizing they weren't going to be as good.
I was living in London at this time, and remember very clearly the slagging these guys got in the reviews for this. They were being unfavourably compared to the band that cam on after them - Oasis - so the review said the Crowes jammed too much and were boring. Looking at this video you have to say what a load of shit! Plus I saw them supporting the Stones at Wembley around this time. Everyone around me was criticizing them whole time they played. Those were strange times in the UK..spice girls!
sometime they'll give a war and nobody will come, because everyone likes to listen to music and love peace and animals Mother's Friendship 5 X 5 Mother's Friendship 5 5 5 5 5 Fran Records Costa Rica, USA and Germany
Luther repeats his solo's methodically in time and never misses a beat except for soul. Speed can kill (a song ) Marc is so underrated and helped to put this band on the map. Listen now with Magpie Salute or his band The Neptune Club. He makes everyone around him better. I love Luther but the note you don't hear is the space that makes the solo
Luther was the perfect guy for the later era, the way the band's sound and songs evolved. He's a badass. The MFF Crowes are undefeated, though. There's a reason the best TBC records are the ones Marc plays on - not to mention the giant pile of incredible unreleased material he's on.
Too bad about Marc. I heard from an inside source that his playing began to suffer to the point they had to turn his cabinet mics off at times. Playing on heroin 'FEELS" great but the reality is you're so far gone that you don't realize how badly you're playing. Heard he's cleaned up now. Wish he hadn't had the problem to begin with. Luther is a great player as was Audley Freed. Each new member they had come on board brought a freshness to the sound. I miss Marc's playing too.
Luther fit in better with the band as time went on, but he can't hold Ford's jock on this song, especially on the sunrise/sermon bridge...Ford's playing is soulful, tasteful and gorgeous
MattA751 how bout u? Can YOU match Luther??? Yeah buddy! It's on now!I think he is sexy! I happen to like his strumming technique very much! So na na na!!
