The Black People of Ecuador - Diaspora in South America.
In Esmeraldas Ecuador beach. In this video, I visit Esmeraldas Ecuador, where there is a thriving afro Ecuadorian community join me as I hit the streets to learn about the afro Community that's part of the African diaspora.
Esmeraldas is a coastal city in northwestern Ecuador. It is the seat of Esmeralda's Canton and the capital of the Esmeraldas Province. It has an international seaport and a small airport. Esmeraldas is the major seaport of northwestern Ecuador, and it lies on the Pacific coast at the mouth of the Esmeraldas River. -Wiki

A lot of people in these comments don’t understand that more enslaved West Africans were sent to South America (Brazil,Colombia,Venezuela etc) than North America (The United states) . Y’all also need to understand the difference between Race, ethnicity and nationality. Black also isn’t synonymous to just “African Americans” , they literally have terms like “Nergito /Nergrita” in Latin American which literally translates to black man / black women. So language has nothing to do with someone being black lol we all know what black people look like so why would a black person speaking Spanish confuse people .
@elvingallard7255
@elvingallard7255 3 года назад
It confuses people because most people are miseducated. We are all over the world. I'm Dominican with very dark skin like the young brother that was driving and people look at me like I have 8 heads when I speak Spanish in Atlanta.

In Ecuador each race and ethnicity is valued and respected, the truth is that we do not care much about distinguishing ourselves if they are black, white or mestizo people (mixed races), we are only Ecuadorians, but when it comes to demonstrate the roots of each culture we do it with pride showing the history because we know it, Ecuador is multicultural, we love what is ours and we also love the people who love us. We always say in Ecuador that in Esmeraldas they cook good food and dance excellent music rhythm is in their blood. since we are children from school we are told the history of how each race came to our country as we adopt their customs, we merge our cultures know where our older generations come from and also know the injustices that at some point we feel the natives and those who forced them to come here are however we defended our territory and embrace the pain of our brothers now just enjoy the tranquility of brotherhood (help me as a translator, apologies if anything is not understood)

@@isabellediaz2281 yeah, there was this guy, I forget his name, but he wrote a “history” book saying that blks were here before the europeans. Some have taken this and went further by saying that some blacks are indigenous to the Americas. Now, I’ve read this book, albeit over a decade ago, and when I went over to the footnotes to read the citations….there were none. Ah! I remember now. The name is “They Came Before Columbus” by Ivan van Sermita. So yeah, the book has no footnotes. It’s just ideas that came out of his head. He claims to have used Columbus’s personal diary to make these claims, but I believe he deliberately ignored historical context to support a certain narrative that fits want he was trying to propose, ideologically. For example, some natives were more darker than others. Same thing happens everywhere. Even in Africa. You can’t lack variance lol it’s unnatural. When Columbus traveled to the Americas, he landed first in what is present day Hispañola (Haiti/DR). During this time, whatever concept of race that we have today was nonexistent back then. It was vague at best. So anyone darker skin was “black.” As slavery developed, these racial taxonomies solidified to designate specific racial groups. But that didn’t happen at that particular time in history. They even referred to the “Untouchables” caste in India as that as well. So long story short, we weren’t here before the natives lol

So are the blacks are not allowed to leave the country or they don’t have the means like the others, it’s seem like they stayed in their countries living happily in their communities....
