I can't imagine how many times they had to do another take on that scene. I probably couldn't keep a straight face on set, this is just too damn hillarious
Once you get that song in your head, it never goes away. It waits silently until someone posts something about The Blue Oyster Bar. And then, it pounces and massages your brain with trumpets and percussion.
The look on blanks face is just priceless lol Who ever came up with the idea for the blue oyster bar gag is a genius very funny idea still makes me laugh now 😆
I remember back in the late 90's there was a club we used to go to in Downtown L.A. They changed the club name every week depending on what type of music they played. Anyway, a nephew of mine was supposed to meet us there, so I told him to meet us at The Blue Oyster Club as a joke and to ask around where it was. Well he did ask around, he asked many people if they know where the Blue Oyster Club was and everyone laughed at him. He wasn't too happy when he finally met us inside the club. Someone told him what that was. I can't believe he hadn't heard of the Blue Oyster! To this day, we still make fun of him.
1:55 “Will you still love me tomorrow” by the Shirelles. I LMFAO when I hear that song on the radio; always think of this scene at the Blue Oyster 😂 😂 😂
Shame his NFL career was cut short by an injury! He was a dlineman for the Baltimore colts!he got injured by a marker or something on the sidelines! NFL changed the design to make it safer!Rip in peace big guy!
Devastatingly funny scenes. The only thing missing is when Blankes and Copeland enter through the side door and you hear the music start then they let out a scream.
Part 1, 4, and 3 are all the funniest in that order! Blankes, and Copeland looked real suspect wearing those colorful shirts! And Captain Harris yelling Proctorrrrrrr while beginning to dance is my #1 funniest moment from the blue oyster bar scenes. And proctor naked with the trash can lid was just sick! But too funny! I love the 80”s
How is it that Mahoney's the only one in the police force that knows the existence of The Blue Oyster? Perhaps he accidentally discovered the place himself at one point. :D
Gerald Spencer It could be : ) or it could be that since Mahoney is a pretty streetsmart but friendly guy so he has gay friends and they ever mentioned the bar to him.
Proctor later knows of it's existence. Maybe he and Mahoney became friends, but kept it under wraps out of awareness that Mauser and Harris both hate the latter. Proctor never hated him, but had to act like he does to stay on his boss' good side
Maybe he used to be a taxi driver. They always know where the gay bars are and their specialties i.e. leather, drag queens etc, for the benefit of out-of-towners.
Ahhhh the 1980's... when you could make massive caricatures of everyone's race, sex, class, sexual preference... didn't matter, all was fair game and everyone laughed at it!
what's funny as a kid watching this we never thought about being gay or to hate gays it was just something funny, it was not trying to make no political point
LMAO!!!! I agree with you. I just bought the boxset of all 4 movies and hadn't realized they featured the Blue Oyster club in every movie. Pure classic & genius! Hilarious as hell!
Italy here! I saw the 1st movie yesterday and I noticed that here is missing the visit to the Blue Oyster during the daytime street riot, when two policemen enter, close the door and immediadely the "El Bimbo" music starts!!Lots of fun for these scenes!😄😄
Ah yes. One of my childhood movies I watched in DVD. Me & my Mom watched that and the sequels. It was awesome including the Blue Oyster Bar which made me laugh so hard. 😆😂 Can't beat the classic.
Best way to welcome 2022.The little one sleeping 😴 as he was in a crib holding his teddy🧸, and the tall one eyes wide open 😳 😆😆😆 just hilarious I could watch this for another 1000 years🎆🎉🍾
The two crewcuts guys: Blankes and Copeland, who get a real police haircut, clippered in the start of the movie. Scott Thomson and Brent Hoffman danse with bums in this bar and they have fun to make this scene!
My cousin and I would laugh our heads off to this when we was kids. Those of us who grew up with cousins that was more like brothers is really something. We loved police academy. I miss laughing with you bro. R.I.P😢
In addition, don't forget the 90s. The 90s killed the 80s. A new generation always imposes itself upon the previous generation. We age. I was a kid & a teenager in the 80s and young man in the 90s. Both decades were a blast. In the millenium I was still relatively young but had money to do more mature things like traveling for fun & that decade was also a blast. Now I'm one of those middle aged guys me and my friends used to make fun of but at least I'm not miserable in marriage like most of my friends lol. So now I'm into classic american muscle cars and hot rods and ratrods.
+Reggie Park Same here, Reggie... brings back memories of the times I spent watching and laughing at these movies with family. Watching VHS movies in the 80s was truly a family event!
Funny thing, there was a Sea Food- Salad bar in the 70s and 80s in Houston called the Blue Oyster Bar. Use to be off the Gulf Freeway between Broadway and Bellfort exit. Now its a carpet and tile place.
+gav omes Me, too! It's hilarious the way the lead dancer keeps dipping him slightly backwards--- the "scared shitless, oh-oh, what are you going to do to me?" look on his face is HILARIOUS!!!!!
YOU ARE THE MAN! I was trying to find all these scenes together for ages! They are absolutely hilarious!Blue Oyster Bar is the trademark of Police Academy. 5***** for you my friend!
You missed the part where Copeland and Blanks accidentally entered the bar 2nd time during the riot. That one is also very funny :) Good job with the compilation. Cheers.
Well, to be fair to Harris, it's probably the best fruit salad bar in town! :P Also, it's funny how Proctor's name sounds like proctology and he's the one who gets cut twice in the Blue Oyster Club...
That's true! Copeland and Blankes weren't prepared to dance with gay men in black leather! They "assumed" that Copeland and Blankes were gay, so they just danced with them!
