You're priorities in the right spot. You said, "That you live to please the Father." Given what you've gone through, you are an inspiration. Calm head. Not one foul words. I can learn a lot from you! Thanks for sharing.
Hey Bro. Thanks for all the insights. You’re a man of faith and as long as you keep being guided by the Most High you can never fail. What may seem like failure to the world is actually the Most High setting you up for bigger and better things. Keep moving forward and Keep your trust in the Most High God he can do the impossible. God Bless!
You will be fine and I’m glad that at the end of the day you clearly know where your strength comes from . You are just learning for the next blessing that comes to you. You taking the lemons and you making lemonade next time. Blessings to you💕
Strength is coming from deeping the deepstick and check lubricants level. Every day. But I will agree with him. Truck expenses like insurance, repairs, time in service, tires... are too high.
It's not easy being a O/O truck driver it's a lot of responsibility. One thing i wish say is buy a long term warranty, have 10k cash n another 10 credit card that u only used to keep active
Thanks for sharing your experience. What you need to do now is recalculate and hit it again! Consider this experience your college course, guess what, you paid for it and it's yours. Another notch under your belt. These things that we go through in life are priceless! If received with respect, you become one step wiser.
This video convinced me I should start a HotShot business with Dually truck, at least repairs and maintenance will be lower, thanks for sharing your experience just come back stronger and wiser bruh
Sorry to hear about your truck! I’ve been wondering where you were. This video would make a great commercial for an oil sampling/testing company. Maybe you could’ve caught the diesel fuel in the oil by testing the oil. I hope you get a truck again. Loved the owner op info you were sharing. Don’t give up!
These crappy DEF/EGR trucks with new school Diesels lead only to ruin. I see it all the time, guys up a creek because their Cascadia won’t work, with D̶e̶t̶r̶o̶i̶t̶ ̶D̶i̶e̶s̶e̶l̶ Mercedes DD15 or finicky Cummins X motor. Nobody wants to encounter problems of course, so a lot of guys buy the newer junk thinking it will treat them better, but it never does. Older (pre-2001) trucks are investments, the newer trucks - and their engines, are throwaway, which is why they’re quickly chucked after the warranty is done. There is good reason a huge portion of successful owner-ops have these old rigs with good solid pre-emission Diesels. It’s because they make money, instead of taking expensive shits on the side of the road, and they’re cheaper to fix anyway. You’re not touching California freight with a ten-foot pole with these trucks of course, but that’s a small thing. Never be afraid of old equipment, just get educated on what you’re working with, any owner should be anyway.
I got a 2000 FLD with a Series 60 12.7l bought a in-frame for $1600 and helped a local diesel mechanic and I'm good for awhile but i won't be satisfied until i do a complete out of frame overhaul!...but all in all good buy she's clean but with a little elbow grease from me and the misses she's clean inside and out!
Nathaniel Bolden ..Be satisfied I got the same engine..still running, you did I frame top and bottom that another million miles you can and to that work
Nathaniel Bolden - The most important part of preventative maintenance on the Series 60 is making sure the bullgear (and its bearings) are healthy, very crucial! Recommended replacement for this part is 800,000 miles on the 12.7. Take care of that, and you have one of the best motors on the road. Good luck!
That is true about cummins they currently change there system and only build to order. If you live in south ga and you need truck parts check out telfair truck and trailer ask for rusty very honest place they overhaul on credit as well. Anytime something fail on cooling sytem or engine always get injectors check. True business owner knows qhen it time to walk away but regain strength and start again be bless and safe on the road
@@clarencewilliams9432 what is the penalty for being busted with a delete? Can the dot tell its been deleted ? My email is crbond077@gmail.com can you email me where i can get that done
I’ve to say...Your one of the wisest man on RU-vid! You said the magic word..Live to seek & serve the most high(Jesu Christ)🙏🏼🙏🏼🦅🦅 The rest is a byproduct. Congrats 🎊 🎊 o
Only you know your situation and you made the best decision for you. Minor setback for a major comeback. You’ll be straight it’s what comes with the game.
You're right. As a business owner, you want to love your business but not (in love ) with your business. Meaning you don't want to go down with the ship. You have to know when to walk away.
I feel ya man. but you know you are in it to win it. just because you are down this time, doesnt mean you are always gonna be. hustle brother get it all back and never ever give up. May the good lord be with you.
I went through the exact same thing when starting a trucking business. Went broke twice, lost both trucks in the process. Long story but same story. Now I own three and still going though hard times. 20 years in so I’m no rookie but the business is hard on owner ops. Found that it’s a mental thing that strikes most drivers down. Every situation, it’s always a multi way bad luck streak, so it seems. Bad load, bad market, truck problems that can’t afford to get fixed until it breaks. On top of personal bills and responsibilities. It’s a hard life but it’s an honest living. Keep pushing bro.
I feel your story..I went through something similar..long story short..I had to sell my truck..couldn't even afford to risk blowing a tire...I was so broke...sold it for 8k...had 20k in it...in the end..walked away with 1300.00 in my pocket..I'm gonna give it a shot again in a year or 2...but better prepared. God's got you bruh...just keep putting one foot in front of the other
So richy, what u are saying is That once a the vehicle starts giving you too much problems.., sale it or put it on a down payment.. I'm pretty sure a dealership can buy parts for cheaper and flip it... And bro thanks for the video and the wisdom.
I've read all the comments here. Tough situation for sure! But i just have a few questions: So you were having a overheating problem and didn't stop the truck right away? It would be rather odd that the injector would have leaked that much diesel to dilute the oil so badly- Could have been the main cause of overheating- and fast that you didn't notice that your oil was diluted with diesel by doing your daily P.T.I.??? I was always on top of my truck condition. Would be MORE so if it was mine.
I just found your channel and you are so right living for God not to please everyone's thoughts on things. I am just looking into going to US Express to lease my first truck and I always teamed with my husband but unfortunately he can't drive right now and we started a dispatching and trucking business of course the trucking side was not going to be right away we were just going to work on the Dispatching but it was right before the pandemic hit and we have not made anything doing that so that is why I decided to lease for now and train new women drivers only. I have decided to train women because I know when I first started it was hard to find a woman trainer and I want to help because I had a boss one time tell me to never forget your first day and I believe too many drivers do forget how nervous they were at first and I can't stand some trainers becoming a trainer just to line thier pockets. I pray you and your family are doing good through this pandemic, God Bless you and your family.
Keep your head up bro. A smart bussiness man once said "Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently" Henry Ford. Next time you will use this experience to your advantage.
Hey bruh man I feel your pain, it hurts to lose something that you put so much of yourself into including your resources but everything that you desire in this life you already have it I hope you hear where I'm coming from it's already there for you everything. I hate to say it but the devil walked in and walked off with your goods I'm not going to say what you should have or shouldn't have done because that's not what you need right now but I will repeat myself everything that you desire it's already yours now, it's never over till it's over I can tell you a good man but you just gave up too soon yes it's hard but never ever quit but to your credit is your decision God bless you!
Trail and error, you wouldn't known how you would do if you wouldn't try it. The good thing about this business is you can do it again. Ok you fell but you didn't break anything so you can get back up and keep moving. You are a winner in so many ways and have helped a lot of people, thanks for all you do. What happened to you could have happened to anyone, but I like the guy that said get a rental until you can get a good and reliable truck. Be safe
I don’t know you bro, but I know you made the right choice. The truck had 900,000 miles on it. At this point in the game it was going to become a money pit. Anytime you purchase a used truck be ready to get rid off it around 7 or 8 hundred thousand miles period. These shops will rip you off if you’re not careful.
We pay penske $1900 a month for full service leases. It's a great deal. I don't know how penske makes money. We had one truck need a transmission, rear end, and one-box within 6 months. A freightliner cascadia one-box is 20k by itself. Penske provides a sub unit within hours of a truck being down. Being a owner op with an emissions truck is rolling the dice. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Daniel Jones that’s a good deal did you get a new truck + their maintenance program for that price? My friend mentioned them and paying that extra seems like it’s worth it man
Well decided. A decision that was necessary. I am sorry that you did not have the mentoring that might have given the supports necessary to have a more a successful experience. As a chaplain I know that there are Chaplains who devoted their work exclusively to truckers and the challenges that are particular to that industry. Best wishes and blessings going forward.
Bruh that shit is draining😞😞 gave up on mines back in 2017 & start working for a pharmaceutical warehouse but after a year I got back behind the wheel & now in 2020 I'm thinking about getting another truck(God Willing)🙏🏾
Trucking is a very hard business. It’s never been easy. Gone are the days of affordable repairs. Unfortunately the newer trucks with so many different mechanical issues makes a hard job much harder.
Cool vid. Sorry about your truck and having to deactivate your Authority. BUT, my question for you is, why didn’t you look online to find the inframe/rebuild kit and either mail it to the shop or mail it to yourself and take it to the shop yourself?! You “probably” could have found an inframe kit with the crankcase for around or less than $4-5k. Inframe kits for the ISX generally run around $2500-$3000 online. Anyway, you could’ve bought your own parts and have the shop put it in. The only thing is they WONT or can’t cover or guarantee the parts because it didn’t come from their shop but they’ll guarantee the work. This way you save a lot of money and your truck would’ve been back up and running with a new inframe/rebuild. Best of luck.
One Rich a real one. How's trucking coming along, Rich? I'm thinking about making a career out there within the next year. Currently studying for CDL permit
You made the right move it just like gambling at a casino sometimes you just have to know when to get up and walk away obviously I see alot of people in your comment not listening you was stuck In a small town with one shop.
Bro, your situation sounds like what i went through with my truck and i let my business go 3 years ago. Towards the end i was really frustrated and i had alot of stress that came with my truck. You do what best for you and your family who cares what other people say what you should have done.
It may sound oversimplified but it’s truth. “If you can quit, you need to quit.” Running a business requires a commitment today that many aren’t willing to give. I’ve been in business for myself and I know what I’m talking about. I just started another one and I’m getting close to the age when a lot of guys are thinking retirement. Before I stepped out in this last venture I had to have a serious examination of myself. I’m in it to the death. I’m going to make it or die trying. If I’ve got to eat beans & taters, wear Salvation Army clothes, and hock every toy that I don’t have to have that’s what I’m going to do. Cell phones, car payments, eating out, and vacations are all expendable to me. I failed in my first business venture and in retrospect I got nobody to blame but me. I wanted all the benefits of being my own boss but I wasn’t ready to put the blood, sweat, and tears that it takes to make it float. It was all on me and I’ve learned from those mistakes. Anyone can quit and I’ve been guilty of it myself in the past but I ain’t going out that way...even if it kills me. I know this sounds crazy but you need to watch the documentary on Evil Keneville’s life. The man absolutely would not quit. His story is something worth the time to listen to. Lastly, lick your wounds, have an honest conversation with the man in the mirror, and get back on your horse. You may not know it but I promise you there’s at least one young buck watching your life and will emulate the traits he sees in you. I wish you the best.
Sorry man this happened with my motor also 2 months ago the price was 25 k for a use motor with 286 k miles I'm with alottt debt I will try let c hope u go back soon the road
Only engine Warranty won’t help you my uncle got a truck from lone mountain second week injector went and flooded the engine . He towed it to Freightliner the engine was covered under warranty he only had to pay 5k for towing and shop supplies for engine rebuild and he paid that upfront but after couple of days he called the dealership to check dealer said because of bad injector there might be fuel in the def system which could cause a fire 🔥 they cannot do the repairs unless you change the whole def system for 20k . They also call the lone mountain so lone mountain stop them to release the truck with out repairs. He had to give up lose his credit and bunch of money 💴 in this . I would say if possible buy a old non emission truck and build it front to back or buy new and keep till factory warranty runs out and then trade it for new one.
When you are on the road you are at the mercy of people you know nothing about. I know quite a bit about turning wrenches but I am not a mechanic, I just learned to work on my own stuff starting back in the 50s and 60s. As it were, I probably would have made the same choice you did about just pulling the plug on that truck. Maybe, if you had bought that truck when it was new and knew about it's history and had made money with it in its prime, that's one thing. But, as you said, you bought it pretty cheap, made money with it, and the salvage value is worth less than just putting together a new rig. Thanks for sharing your story. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
You actually could have jus rented a truck & sold that. One & shopped around til you found another one..... I’m surprised that was your move... if you can afford to rebuild a engine & your business credit on point like you say it is..:::: jus sayin homie.....
Im an owner op and have done the same thing. It gets overwhelming sometimes and its best to walk away and take a breather. 34k in just the motor i would rather put a down payment a good truck with warranty and that down truck can be fixed meanwhile and eventually have two trucks( meanwhile i mean over at least 6months to a year). Plus best wait for the rebuilt parts then a whole motor. We lose some to win some. Sometimes you have to walk away for a bit. Nothing stops a hard working man
Bigerv Express my father put his cascadia in to get an engine rebuilt, rented one while it was being built, eventually bought a 2015 579 And now I’m driving the cascadia with a. Rebuilt engine. (Engine blew at 1.2million miles)
If u can afford 15 grand find the rebuild kit on your own. Have them do labor or take it elsewhere. Just a suggestion. I know exactly where you're at I went through this my first go round in trucking. It was a very stressful time. Keep your head up your time will come
I wanted to own a Mack Truck, but I am now thinking more thoroughly about a situation. 1.) I would have to have a good and consistent driver. 2.) I would need to have suficient back up cash
You're right there an I'm just asking did you try see how much a new truck is and how much to put down on it and your payments maybe be cheaper on your part I know used trucks never know about them sometime you get a good one and sometime you get one money in all the time,, I was buying a truck years back and I was put money in it just in case dot pull me over then I would not worry about tickets but one day I laid it over at power plant on coal yard my left wheel in the back shuck in the air pocket well that was ride truck and trailer lying on side I had $18,000 in it and my insurance was $18,000 and waiting on the insurance it took them just about 40 days get my check I was paying the bills around the house plus my taxes fuel tax another and I had another truck lined out to buy but they jacked around too long
Dpf/def/egr are a nightmare they’ll empty your pockets. I hate this new regulations I spent so much money on my truck and at the end I end up doing a delete on the dpf
I had a radiate replaced because of a crack and I paid $2,600. What are you talking about, 12 or 13? My price included the labor. Are you saying $1200 or $1300? And are you referring to the cost of the radiator as a part?
I listened to more and I’m really sorry you had to decide to shut down. It was much bigger than just the radiator. I know how you feel. My truck was stolen and I decided to stop driving for awhile because truck prices were ridiculous since the pandemic. Thought I’d wait to see when the prices came back down to buy my next truck.
Lots of better places to go than dealers. Call around to truck salvage yards, lots of times they have good shops. I have a Mexican guy about 2 miles from me that I buy used parts from, he has a fleet of heavy wreckers all beautiful. I saw him build a couple of them from the ground up using mostly salvage parts, they look almost like show trucks. Dealership mechanics are a far cry from what they used to be
And this is why I’m a company man. 401K, insurance, dental, stock options, 4 weeks paid off, home daily, $78,000 yr. it’s not gonna make you rich but you’ll sleep in your own bed and you won’t deal with this shit.
Definitely a good idea for those who don't want to deal with the stress of business and those who think they can & can't. Trucking isn't easy for sure.
You did the right thing,i let my authority go to,to money consuming man,i found that im happier leased on with the safety net this real life.i gotta no went to fold.dont give just time to get a new truck keep em turning
bruh at least you got ya mind right you sound like me money ain't everything I had to unsubscribe from a couple dudes talkin crazy cause money is everything to them i'm finny start next year as soon as my most recent ticket is 34 years old i'm gettin in cause I wanna lil bit of land to grow food on i'm a simple man damn piling up all them cars etc... like otha people do listening to your calmness considering the circumstances make me know the Most High is on your side bruh. KEEP UP THA GOOD WORK and get back at em.
Im guessing you werent ckecking the dipstick every day? U need to look at the oil and smell it (for gas smell) every day. This cud have been prevented i think
There is money in the trucking biz if your equipments don’t fail on you that bad. If you ever buy another rig make sure it’s thoroughly inspect before buying. You’ll be okay Just keep on pushing.
So quick question if the engine was making oil shouldn't you have seen that In Your pretrip. Also you should have seen increased fuel consumption. Just a thought I've been a diesel mechanic for 10 years I see stuff like this all the time.
