Sandy adding value in tremendous value as always. The other dude truly sounds like a car salesman 🤦♀️ “We want to make the safest production vehicle in the world”, Sandy goes quiet, I believe because he’s aware how well Tesla is doing. Engineer vs salesman
Sandy. Suggestion: Find the corner which Top Gear filmed the overturning Robin and get a car of that era to go round the corner fast, which will under steer. Then get the Bricklin and Nobe to lawlessly screech round the same corner.

this is fantastic. so many great ideas. I live in Canada, obsessed over cars all my life, and my dad pointed out a Bricklin to me at a car show. i had never seen or heard of one and they are fascinating. Here i am probably a decade later since first seeing that Bricklin, and I find Malcolm Bricklin super fascinating. Need to find more info on him what a great guy!

@@henryevans7205 I came to say the same thing,,,lol. Actually, you can see a teardown on an older episode of Top Gear where Clarkson tips it over a few times and it was shedding parts each time. Though that may technically be tearing it apart. Lol. Only tools he used was the steering wheel, the gas pedal and asphalt roads to convert the car from a single assembly into multiple assemblies. But obviously Mr Munroe would be much more methodical while using language to describe the process clear and concise rather than "Oh dear God", "What in bloody hell" and the ever common, "James, look at what you've made me do". 🤭
I cant get my head around the business plan. It just makes no sense to me. Tesla has proven that people are walking away from the nightmares of sales lots yet Brikland is going all in. By 2022 buying a car on your phone will be the norm. Vertical integration means you are in full control of your own destiny yet this model wants to partner with everyone. Nikola 2.0. I doubt this will get off the ground because of a flawed business plan imo. I'll be buying puts if it IPO's
@@markplott4820 Everything (or rather, every product announced before mass production) is vaporware until it hits mass production and distribution. What you mean is, it will remain vaporware until it disappears entirely. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. I sense a red flag or two, too.
I can't believe Malcolm Bricklin is still alive. I remember seeing the Bricklin SV-1 in showrooms. I think he also started importing Subarus into the U.S. Edit: guess I should have waited longer to comment.
Mr. Munro I a former postal employee implore you to redesign the Postal long life vehicles of the US Post Office. They need to go EV and be more efficient and safer. They are so old they are nearing 40 in 4 or 5 years. please contact some in congress or Post Master with ideas
The givernment already is committed to spending half a billion on new vehicles built by oshkosh. I guess the defence industry is suffering from the pull out from iraq so they have to get some of that USPS money.
2022 came and went. I love the car, but I am also a big fan of the Aptera. Neither has come to production. Yet, I am still holding my breath and hoping both come to production. I also own a 75 Bricklin as you can see see in my thumbnail.
thing that makes me excited : 1 High wheel torque on demand 2 Styling 3 Low turning radius 4 Urban driving 5 initial cost 6 cost of ownership Things that worries me is : 1 access to parts at descent prices 2 access to certified technician 3 DIY parts margin 4 time of warranty. Clients want a secure investment. 5 and dealerships in the time where everything delivered at your doorsteps is awkward for me
Once you hear his lip slapping, you can never unhear it. Sounds like an Ev pyramid scheme using the slingshot prototype? He might be wrong about setting up dealer networks, I would think you should follow Assembly factory and various warehouse strategy like amazon. People buy without seeing the car now. Personally, combine this idea with TATA Nano, and you got something. But sacrificing the back seat of a corolla for about the same price, doesn't make much sense yet. If i want two seater, i'll still choose Can-am- Doors for what!
I've got a Bricklin SV-1 in the garage. A very cool and unique car that draws attention everywhere it goes. I know electrification is the future, and can't wait for the charging infrastucture to expand enough to support the mass change. I can't wait to see how that beautiful rendering looks in reality either. Who knows, maybe there will be 2 Bricklin's in the garage, lol.
I don't know how secretive you guys want to be about these cars, but Bollinger have made step by step videos of their dev. and this has been an effective part of their marketing. I'd be really interested in watching these products brought to life.
When I first heard him talking about his dealership model I thought it all sounded very old fashioned. And then I heard his idea for hiring veterans and I realized he may just have a hook. The Tesla anti-dealership model likely wouldn't work for his target market: retired people. It sounds like hes got the perfect pitch for retired folks. But my big overarching question for all of these small 3 wheeled vehicle companies is: how does all of them build a seperate dealership model? Or do they all end up lumped together at a 3 wheeler store? Can you sell a Briklin, Nobe, and Archimoto under the safe roof or is that too much of the same thing in one place?
Hiring veterans is just a marketing trick, a dealer is a dealer, they are just resellers in disguise, they can and will mark up vehicles and try to nail you for as much as possible in the process
Ask your question again, but have it be about 4 wheel vehicles. Lets just lump all 4 wheel vehicles under the same roof. No. It does not work like that. Number of wheels is irrelevant. Each vehicle brand will need specially trained mechanics with the tools, parts and software to work on that one brand.
@JasonWW2000 did you even watch this video? Have you ever BEEN to a car dealership? Bricklin literally got his start importing all kinds of different cars by different makers and selling them together. And many dealers do this kind of mashup today. Especially new marques or low volume ones. Which ticks all of the boxes here.
Fantastic to see two old guys (sorry Sandy, you’re not THAT old ;) being so much more forward looking than the rest of the industry, wanting to innovate and complaining about the same old same old. Age is relative.
The Top Gear Reliant Robin piece was a complete setup. There was nothing wrong with the Reliant Robin per se, but as usual Clarkson and Top Gear rigged the Robin to severely tip over. The first thing they did was weld the differential so that when the inner wheel lifted power was still directed to the outer wheel so allowing the tip over. Then they cut down the drivers side rear suspension spring to make the car roll really badly on a left hand turn. If they could find a road with severe camber so much the better. The Robin was a wobbly beast and thoroughly unpleasant to drive but in no way was it anywhere near as bad as Clarkson portrayed it.
Sorry Gentlemen, I hear you...but I just can't wrap my head around most people being OK purchasing a 3 wheel vehicle. Car looks great, and the fact that Mr.Munro is involved inspires confidence in the final product. What I like less is the 'Anti-Tesla' approach, meaning everyone else building the guts of the vehicle (much like most of today's builders) and going into an old-school car dealership setup. Good luck!
Isn't it the obvious trend in the US right now that larger vehicles are what people are demanding? Personally, I wouldn't consider buying anything smaller in seating/cargo capacity than a Honda CRV. People will accept the shift to the three-wheeled concept if the vehicle itself is larger and offered the space people are used to. A 2-seater for $25k is a "toy". In all seriousness: The first company to make a 25k, 250-mile range MINIVAN for families and everyday, normal use will make a KILLING. Please stop giving us expensive niche vehicles - everyday working Americans need normal, affordable, usable rides. Thanks for sharing your continued great content and expert knowledge! :)

They made larger vehicles and you how much gas those things sucked up
Sandy I can't see how a "gyroscope chip" can substitute for a gyroscope in producing resisting torque to sideways rolling when going too fast for a bend on level ground? No amount of air suspension adjustment driven by the gyro chip will make a difference to counteract the centrifugal rolling torque.. The normal resisting force upwards from the ground on the outside wheels is limited by the weight of the car.... Air suspension or not. Am I missing or misunderstanding something Sandy? Are you saying the car will lean into the bend via the air suspension to create an increased opposing torque? Like a motorbike
I think he ment just a multi axis sensor, to adjust suspension and wheel spin dynamically... motorcycle are getting those chips for braking only (especially in curves/while angled)
Sandy is not referring to a big gyroscope to make the car tilt , etc. He means the gyroscope chips like in cell phones. Plus, yes, it would be possible to make it lean into a turn if necessary. He's talked about active air suspension before on the Nobe and may use in on the Bricklin as well.
Never thought I'd seen a Bricklin car outside of the museum in NewBrunswick :)) That said, a 3-wheeler is indeed a great optoion for an EV considering they'll be cheaper than cars yet have more batteries & a faster charger than a motorcycle. Here in Quebec, we're producing the BRP Spyder that proves there's a demand for 2 front wheels 3 wheelers. But could this drive in winter??
WOW these comments are a mixed bag. I, for one, will remain cautiously optimistic about any new EV company I see until it proves itself one way or another. The fact that Nobe, Arcimoto, and now this company have Sandy on board is a very good start. We'll see how it all pans out.
Bricklin is always entertaining, but try to find someone who's been in a business relationship with Bricklin that didn't lose money. His enthusiasm far exceeds his abilities.
I have a question. When showing the slides, (pages), of the proposal, I noticed two prices. My question is whether this is for a "normal" two-seater and a fully optioned two-seater, or if this is for a tw-seater and a four/five seater variant? I'm hoping for the latter, as a two-seater mostly won't cut it for families.
This is in relation to a comment I made below, and I've had some time to think about it. Why does a trailer have to be a dead weight? Everyone is concerned about EV trucks and towing capacity. What if all trailers also had drive? Batteries and motors can be located to maximise load capacity. The trailer can be linked to the cars logic systems to created a smart unit. A caravan needs power for cooking and lighting, just integrate it with driving the wheels. Driving a trailers wheels would also help when manoeuvring when not hooked up to a vehicle. Hell, with a BT link you could use your phone to direct the trailer where you wanted.
Most trailers are motionless for much longer then the vehicles that tow them. Wouldn't be to hard to have them continually trickle charging with solar, or from the grid.
I think currently there are laws against this due to being too dangerous. Being electric, computer controlled and interfaced into the tow vehicle really changes things. They would need to change the laws to reflect the modern age.
I wonder if Tesla is going to use the trailer to power their semi? No need to recharge the cab a lot, just hook up to a trailer that has been charging while it's being loaded and drive away????
My dad had a reliant robin we went everywhere in it 50 years ago , we have come a long way since then this sounds a very good idea normal people won’t be able to afford Tesla .
I wonder why there wasn't a part 3 to these interviews...? Oh, I know, Sandy couldn't get a word in edge-wise! 😂 Talk less, listen more, you are talking to an engineering genius!!!
Hey Sandy, is there any interest in adding self driving capability into these are these 3 wheel veichles, such as making it compatible with comma ai open pilot for example?
Commie AI does not work, its not as safe s TESLA Autopilot & Full Self Driving. you are 10x safer with Tesla FSD than anything else. see - youtube TESLA FSD Beta.
Love the vids sandy but consider updating intro music. Find a local musician play something short and catchy. I don't like it because many other youtube channels have the same intro.
Did you think about this? People buy things for status symbols. They buy a big flash house then buy a Doge Ram, a flash boat and a winibago just to park in front of it. The boat and the motor home never go anywhere. It’s all just for show. I do wonder if Elon thought of this in his grand plan.
I really like the idea of a three wheel car, but until now it has to be two at the front and one at the back because of the stability. If individual electronic control of each wheel and each suspension unit removed the instability then that would really take off.
The idea is interesting....... but not with Brickland involved. I'm sorry, but I've heard far too much about what happened in the province right next door to mine for me to trust that Brickland can do this. Maybe he's learned to in the past 50 years, but I dunno........
Claims car is inherently stable and has superior handling. Hmmm, it’s a 3 wheeler and no 3 wheeler to date can be described as inherently stable. By the sheer nature of having only 3 wheels makes it unstable, admittedly having the single wheel at the rear does work better than having the single wheel at the front but and it is a big but, in no way can this design be described as safer than a vehicle having a wheel in every corner. Back to the drawing board I think.

@@JasonWW2000 No. Red flags are bad. Very bad. Not good. Elon is a mixed bag. SpaceX is truly innovative. Tesla cars are still subsidized and driven by unscientific climate alarmism (but innovative in some ways). Solar is a pure scam.

I believe Mr. Bricklin said his plan is to buy every part so his business just assembles the vehicle...with that many businesses taking a profit, how can the 3-Wheel EV Bricklin Company be very profitable?
That's what every great company needs, you r only as good as the people around you! Look at Tesla Elon wants and most of the time gets the best people working WITH him. Dude does have a vision. Just saying.

way too many red flags. way too old-school in his thinking (dealerships, areas/territories assigned to dealers, mandatory commitment of millions for an unproven machine). I think this one is a big nope, but I could be wrong. I think he needs to look long and hard at how Tesla is doing it... drive costs down, vertically integrate, sell direct to the public via internet... and soon Tesla will come out with a 25K car and where does that leave the 3-wheeled market??? Unless it sells for ~10K, it is dead in the water.
@@TheMoni7548 I agree, the tesla method is better, and tesla is big enough to support that. A startup probably wouldn't be able to do that until they become more established.

If he's going to produce the vehicle in subassemblies and ship them to the dealers for final assembly and sale, why not also make kit car versions which a DIY can assemble in his/her garage and then possibly get it certified at either the local DMV or Bricklin dealer? People will want to customize these--why not have an easy path for them to do so?
Engineering wise the Bricklin was fine. Many are still out there running, 30+ years old. Let's hope Sandy can ensure the engineering works, again. The dealership model is weak but maybe it will get failing legacy dealerships adopting Bricklin as a draw brand and pumping it. What is a bit shady is the stock buy requirement that can be pyramid scheme, $12/share hmm...
@@crhu319 Engineering wise the Bricklin was a random pile of conventional components bought from whatever real auto manufacturer would sell them something.
I searched for it and the argument i found was "Problem is not dynamics, but rather that they're not required to meet car safety standards." If that is the only reason, then i find it good that you support safe 3-wheeled cars.
They are dramatically less safe as ICE vehicles because they arnt stable with a high center of gravity. That problem is largely fixed with batteries in the floor. But even with batteries in the floor the vehicle will always be less stable going in the direction of the single wheel. Especially the single wheel can't steer or the vehicle will just pitch over. Most 3 wheeled cars put the single wheel in the back, which means you cant really safely put them into reverse. They also have very limited seating and luggage capacity. Elon likely doesnt like them because they ARE less safe than 4 wheeled vehicles and he probably feels it is not worth fighting the public peeception on that when hes also fighting public perception that EVs suck.
Elon has never driven them, because we never have "3-wheelers" like this. He drove a dirt bike and almost died in an accident...which I think has left some mental scars. So he does not like motorcycles.
The testing required is less costly so it could more open to abuse, least that's what I understand from Elon's response. That said, their design seems to have sufficient crash protection. And a three wheeled design in this configuration is very stable, mainly due to the battery pack placement. I honestly I really like the way car looks for the most part but can't get over the three wheeled aspect. The Reliant Robin was considered the most awful car in the UK during the 80's and 90's, it's wheel placement inverse and unstable compared to Bricklin 3EV. The arguments for dumping the 4th wheel are excellent but I think peoples vanity and the history of three wheeled cars might have them reconsidering. It's worth looking at the slide deck, all these innovations are pretty amazing: munrolive.com/bricklin-3ev
@@patreekotime4578 The stability factor to which you refer is only when the two wheels are in rear. When the two wheels are up front the risk of overturning in corner/braking scenario drops to approximately that of a car.
MUNRO live - FUN fact, some of the Earliest electric cars were, Three wheelers , they had a Rear axle with a Pusher motor , for the Drivetrain and a Single wheel up front for steering and they used a simple method for steering.
$12/$15 “share” value is meaningless. They will be only share options. Only upon going public will the value of those shares be calculated, based on the value of the company at that time, divided by the number of shares. Nothing to stop this guy diluting or going public at a $1 share price.
Surprised when he said he had never heard of the gyroscope being used for stability. He’s developing a 3 wheel car and he’s never heard of that? The sucking noise is his dentures I think. I could be wrong.
I agree and that smacking sound was annoying AF. Dude seemed massively shady. What is this give me money crap without even a working prototype? At least trevor built something to roll down hill.
Tesla engineers might well improve the design on the seat belt AirBag. If autonomous goes well this product may only be useful for 20-40 years - planes would need.
Bricklin dealer story is classic ($3900 sell for up to $6900) - stealerships - can his new business model fix that ?? Get Munroe pay up front -I suspect Sandy knows he can't finance others, he needs to earn money to run his company too.
#Munro Live - That belt and the chips for controlling suspension and motors. Is that something DIY people can buy? I am about to weld my own 3-wheeler, since I can not afford 50k EV's but still want something EV to use daily.
