I'm a Ducks and Broncos fan who's been screaming about how perfect Bo is for us since like week 3 of last year. You can't fathom how scared I am for the season to start.
@@jackwilson5449it's the same with the bears and fields. Yes both of them are talented but it comes at a cost sometimes outweighing the benefit. Russ used to be better at throwing from the pocket
I've seen/heard Spider 2Y Banana references used as a joke so many times on Reddit and Twitter I almost forgot it’s a legitimate concept used in actual football games 😂
Bo was good at progression in his routes in college but the biggest thing about Bo is his work ethic to get things right he improves at an elite level.
I think he has more than enough motivation to improve. He's getting paid now (by a wealthy, storied franchise) and an elite coach and national sports media that will scrutinize his every move. He looksd smart, poised and confident. I'm optimistic, but Sean Payton must be more so, because he's not even starting him for the last preseason game tomorrow. With a first game on the road in LOUD Seattle stadium, it's almost stunning to not give him even a couple possessions to keep him sharp.
Agree, but if your livlihood, future career and success are at stake, such incentives could certainly motivate you to work hard, espcially if you have strong leadership that knows how to develop character as well as your athletic skills. Not to mention being surrounded by competitive veterans who have the same motivation. I've read that he is working hard and grasping things quite well. Sean Payton isn't even playing the last preseason game. That likely wouldn't be the case if he weren't putting in alot of effort.
As a bronco fan, one of the nice surprises besides accuracy and athleticism has been his quick release. he has great poise in the pocket and seems to escape easily.
If he has one problem, it's he throws way too much with his arm. He doesn't get his hips into his throws & due to that he's not getting any body weight behind them. That's what the coach in me sees. He lacks some zip & I think that this is why.
@@10thletter40 Never heard that. They weren't that wrong. All these channels breaking down QBs with stats & play by individual play. & none of 'em will do this for Brady. Because they know what they'll find. His slow, clunky receivers always gained amazing amounts of separation, more than much faster, better route-runners almost as if the team studied tape of opposing teams' practices & knew where the gaps in their zones would be then used that info in the 4th quarter. Almost as if... Also, his terrible contested catch % would show up. He was accurate but no powerful.
What a remarkable set of skill characteristics: doesn't get sacked, rarely throws an interception and cherry on top, is consistantly VERY accurate with his ball placement.
You say that he has a hard time getting to his second and third reads, but he seems to be the only rookie QB who is hitting anyone after his first read without having to extend the play an extra 3 seconss.
Sean Payton is skilled enough to scheme the receivers open, all he needed was someone to execute his vision. Bo Nix seems to be checking lot of the boxes for me, I really hope the Broncos have found their guy after disasters like Drew Lock. If Sean can get a Dual threat RB like he had in New Orleans in Kamara, things will get a lot easier for Bo IMO.
Essentially, Bo has the best coach for him in Payton to follow, and Payton has a good enough rookie in Bo to develop. Barring total disaster, it's safe to assume that only positive things would come from this.
I'm a seahawks/ducks fan, but I'd VERY much love to add a certain broncos jersey to my collection. Snagged Herbert's last year. Can't wait to see Nix develop under Payton!
I think Bo Nix will have a decent rookie season under Payton. A ton of volume in passing (lots of checkdowns) and safe passes for the most part. The Broncos are likely going to treat him like the Chargers treated Herbert with Joe Lombardi as the OC who is now the OC of the Broncos. Broncos fans need to get ready to see him complete 25 passes for only 200 yards
@@cooper23231who said anything about calling the plays? Dude rightfully pointed out that he’s the OC. If he’s not the OC, then you might want to inform the rest of the NFL along with Lombardi and the Bronco’s who literally have him listed as the OC.
@@stormysyndrome7043 Titles doesn't exactly mean playing the same role in a different structure. When Lombardi was OC with Payton as HC he never called the plays. His years without Payton (Lions with Stafford, Chargers with Herbert) he was more involved with the offense as the play caller. Which is what the guy wanted to point. So much of Nix's production in the passing game this season will all be on Payton in his ear than anything that has to do with Lombardi.
Oregon's my CFB team and I obv. love Nix and was high on him during the draft process and I loved his fit with the Broncos. You hit the nail on the head with all your points in this vid. It might take a bit of time, but I think Bo will be pretty good for Denver.
I think one thing that should be pointed out about the first preseason game and the kinda shaky decisions he made is that those were some of his first throws so theres a solid chance he has some jitters from nerves
I hope he can be "Brees-like". It was so much fun watching Peyton and Brees disect defenses. For Drew Brees, zone-defense was just an invitation to the endzone.
@@calicojack3628 I'm sorry but look at his stats is every QB ever bad why are you so stoned and what makes you think that Russel Wilson and Pete Carroll pulled off a Miracle
A little surprised you didn't mention Nix's propensity for screens + short passes ... which is the major reason he had that high % at Oregon (and would seem to relate directly to Russ's issues). They also used a lot of designed underneath passes in the preseason, which Nix threw well, and I suppose that's preferable to Russ going almost straight to a check down for a play that isn't designed to go underneath.
I'm curious as to what led to Wilson falling off a cliff so bad. As a 49er fan I always thought he was just super fucking lucky all the time and pulled off an abnormal amount of improvisational plays while riding a great defense.
I wouldn’t say that the Colts game was spotty mainly due after his first couple of incompletions he was pretty much perfect and scored on all of his drives except 1 which was out of his control. Great video 👍
One of the best things I have heard is that Payton said he is impressed with Bo's speed at processing what is happening. Speed is one of the biggest jumps to the NFL (300lb dudes running running in the 4's is absolutely nuts). We did the QB carousel for 14-15 years after Elway and now again for 8 years. I just want a winning season and a show of progression. LET'S GO!!! Edit: I can't say let's ride anymore. Wilson ruined that for me....
Curious; if Russell Wilson was so bad, then what would have happened if WIlson did restructure contract to help with the CAP. Because that would also imply that Wilson would remain the starting quarterback, even if they did still draft NIX… 🤔
As a Broncos fan I’m trying my hardest not to fully buy in to this kid just yet, I’ve seen all the film breakdowns of pre season and his route progression is still something to be worked on but man if he can just be the game manager Sean Payton wanted Russ to be, this season should be fun to watch. I doubt bo takes us on a long playoff run or anything but I’m tired of watching hopeless losing seasons finally there’s hope again in the mile high.
It honestly kind of makes sense. S P is for slide protection, so that's how they get spider, but it could really be anything. Sean Payton? 😂 And then Banana is the Y's route cause it's like a soft corner
i been knew wilson wasnt going to work . im glad he's gone & the broncos drafted bo. i feel like the broncos are heading in the right direction after almost a decade of winning sb50
This is the first time I've been excited about the Denver Broncos, in over 10 years. I was mortified when they signed Russell Wilson, then gave him that absolutely asinine extension. Gee, I can't fathom why HE wasn't a good QB in Denver! I feel sorry for the Steelers having two absolute bums like Wilson and Fields, trying to lead them. No franchise, not even the traditionally great Pittsburgh Steelers can overcome a double black eye like having Wilson and Fields as their QBs. They'd truly be better off by bringing Big Ben back at 42 years old, guaranteed.
I had to stop. I had to stop the video. You just said he was a 77% completion rate QB because he only went to his first read. Not only has what you said never happened. For anyone. Ever. Bruh…77% first read only. 😑😒 Bo Nix was rated only behind Caleb Williams once a play broke down. Those completions weren’t first reads.
@@AlexRollinsNFL just admit Payton had a mobile quarterback and he had everything from a poor man's Drew Brees, a quarterback with a cannon, and another HOF quarterback but wants a quarterback who makes the right decision quickly. If Payton doesn't have a quarterback who does this at Drew Brees's level he isn't successful. And Drew Brees is literally one of one.
