Ma jeunesse. Ma tristesse. Merci à RU-vid de reprendre sa musique et de me montrer comment il était. Il serait devenu l'un des tout grands. 50 ans plus tard, je vibre encore
@@tennisbum3686 Even on records his name is Charles Hardin Holley. So you are right. And his wife must also named Holley and not Holly as is wrong mensioned. Holly was his artist name that we all know. I do not know if this was chosen by him or also wrong at the beginning and left like this. Thanks to MacGregor and Busey and others his songs are still alive!
To me Rock n Roll died the night of February 3rd 1959, Buddy was The true King Of Rock n Roll. Only because Buddy could write songs, play songs and sing songs. Although saying that Elvis and Buddy were good friends in 1955 and it was Elvis Presley's influence that encouraged Buddy Holly to play Rock N Roll
And I remember my dad and I were coming back from a bird hunting trip in south Central Kentucky. It came on the radio about the crash and buddy, dieing. I started crying my dad didn't understand then I explained of what a rising star Buddy was what a loss plus the big bopper and Richie V.
Countless classic songs where never written, lost to us all, never to be heard, the day he died. A life time of great music we will never now hear. All these years on and it is still an unimaginable loss.
@@Alun49 yes, just be glad though that we got the music that he did produce as well as the other two talents that left us also way too early, but at least they left their mark in history, so enjoy what was given to us all.
This guy plays the part with all the joy Buddy had. Having seen this performed live around 5 or 6 times it is always wonderful the energy and passion those playing Buddy bring. As well as the ease of playing guitar. A great clip. thanks for posting!
Paul Hipp is another Buddy in the state show . I saw it with him as Buddy - excellent And Valens was a 17 year old guitar playing kid . Not some 30 year old in super tight pants .
Gus MacGregor is quite impressive as Holly. If you look carefully, he even duplicates Holly's guitar playing style, playing only down strokes the way Buddy Holly played the guitar.
Gus MacGregor was very inspirational to me as Buddy Holly. It was shortly after this show I got an electric guitar and started playing. I used to say that my influence on guitar was Buddy Holly/Gus MacGregor. Great show and well done
...he even duplicates Holly's guitar playing style, playing only down strokes the way Buddy Holly played the guitar... - which makes the instrumental break in Peggy Sue, that much more impressive.
@@glen7318 there's a new film on the life of Buddy being made this year Called Clear Lake, the actor that's playing Buddy doesn't look like him either, the dark hair and glasses and to be a brilliant at playing Guitar and to have that special singing voice that Gus Macgregor had and has.
I saw the show in Duluth MN a few weeks ago.. was just incredible, the actor you played Buddy was Michael Perrie Jr and not this one but I think he was even better .. I would go again in a heatbeat
@@tobyrutter3776 once he realises that it is knackered, he makes a gesture to the crew to tell them to throw to a backing tape and that he needs another guitar. Brilliant Buddy, though.
@@tobyrutter3776 a friend of mine worked the sound desk around this period- the throwaway hand gesture meant, fade my guitar down, bring the backing up, and I need a new guitar. You're right though, 'Tommy' (in fact, usually the Buddy understudy) filled the part out too.
To see my kids find and discover these three kattz and come to me like holy potatoes dad you gotta here this cracks me up cause I remember doing thevsame thing with my ol man years ago .....
As a kid in the fifties I grew listening to Buddy Holly, Elvis, Fats, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and all the great pioneers of Rock 'N Roll. What a time. I started playing guitar then and still do today. Long live Rock "N Roll!
when this was in London in the 90s i saw this at least 19 times, can't wait for the show to come back to London. I only wished i had seen Gus Macgregor as Buddy he is so talented, outstanding as Buddy!!
Did the actor really snap a string while doing this before an audience? Excellent recovery pulling that string off that vintage tuner. If he wasn't playing without the trem, and not having the bridge decked, his Strat would have gone all out of tune. (Tech stuff)
Is it a FACT that Buddy Holly did “Peggy Sue Got Married” on the last tour January-February 1959? I was always under the belief that it was discovered posthumously:
What I wanna know is what movie is this with the same name as the 1978 version with Gary Busey?! When did this one come out?! Who are these actors especially the man channeling Buddy Holly so effortlessly?! I've googled it and came up empty so I'll bite where can you buy the Blue Ray/DVD or download it?!
This movie is 25 percent accurate. Norman Petty ,Buddy's manager isn't mentioned. The Crickets have no names. Busey can't play guitar. La Bamba is better. But see Paul McCsrtneys Real Buddy Holly Story for the truth.
What is funny about this clip is that the song 'Peggy Sue Got Married' was not discovered until after his death! Bad research fellows, bad research. He also never had female back up group on tour. I could go on and on.Why don't people do their research? It continually baffles me.
Their are not many people who imitate the original singers are as good, but this guy is as good or better, I cringed when I said that as I’m a Buddy Holly fan.

I was 6 years old when this man died in a plane crash him ,the big bopper and Richie valens the one that didn't get on the plane was buddies guitar player a man named Waylon Jennings any one know that man
I don't know why they have a small orchestra and a huge choir backing 'Buddy'. he never had this live. Apart from a few recordings, it was 'bare bones'. This is what made him great; squeezed the most out of an awesome Orange.
Its a production. Most people dont know what you know. The movie takes liberties too. Like the coin toss in LaBamba. The two guys who were alive at the time say it happened at the Surf Club not at the airport.
this is not buddy.but give the guy a break. .he is trying.i guess Garry busiey would day the same.onley one guy that pulled this off for buddy Holly was g.b.godbless x
I can't imagine anyone being able to play Holly. Impossible to get the looks AND the style down to anywhere close to perfect. But this guy is giving it a shot, and he's definitely not bad.
