THE BULLGRYN SHIELD BUILD - Ogryn Bleed Stacking - Warhammer 40k Darktide 

A tip for anyone that yells "ROCK" when rocking muties. If you trill the "R" until the moment of impact, the fun increases 150%.

As someone who just hit lvl 30 doing a gunlugger build I gotta say: They need to give Ogryn guns fucking flashlights.

In a universe full of absurdly powerful guns, enhanced melee weapons, specially crafted diseases and magic, the best available option is... a rock. Naturally. Honestly worth it for the comedy alone.

Shield loadout is absurdly good, I saw a guy in Krieg gear surviving the exterminatus with a plague ogryn and 5000 mobs on him, still got multiple revives and won. Earned his rations that day.

Just a thing to point out for efficiency, if you take the operative point next to lynchpin, you can get 25 toughness boost instead of just 15 from the one next to SLAM.

Take the toughness node next to lynchpin instead of the one next to slam for 25 instead of 15.

I would highly advice taking attention seeker (beneath the stay close! aura) as it taunts any ranged shooting at you, making them rush into melee. be the first one into a room full of gunners and your team has insane control as everything shoots at your shield

I really hope we get that smaller buckler shield as a melee weapon seen on some bullgryn minifigures, would be nice to have a bit more of an aggressive alternative to the shield combo we have now.

Rock is hilarious but the nuke grenade is sort of the ultimate get out of jail card. When you're getting swarmed and have team mates down it's basically a board clear. That said, I always save it for emergencies so sometimes I go an entire game without using it so it does feel wasted.

"The shield combo is Heavy Heavy Heavy". Addendum: Sprint Cancel to Loop Heavy1 for more direct damage. Heavy 2 is half the damage per swing. The same can be said for finding the idiosyncrasies of most melee weapons. Animation Cancels. Special attack activation sequences. Unique properties (see Psyker Laspistol vs other classes.) The melee system goes much deeper than this video covers.

I feel like ogryn is a must have on a team a lot of the time because i feel like they do all around the most work. They can have single target dps with bleed or heavy attack spam, they have great hoard clear, rock can deal with specials, and with the blocking taunt feat you can have so much crowd control vs pretty much anything. Plus the shield itself can tank daemonhosts easy, and any other shooter deathsquad that spawns in your ass. I run ogryn with three of my buddies also going ogryn and i have to say auric was surprisingly easy.

I use Attention Seeker and Indomitable instead, along with the Box of Nades. Block-canceling heavies for melee DPS and blocking/pushing for aggro. Indomitable helps to get me out of messy situations and provides enough CC to help out my team, along with mobility to get to something/someone quicker. Can also stagger monstrosities with it.

We really need a Power Maul and Brute Shield combo as the next Ogryn melee weapon. Give it the heavy attacks of a shield but lacks the ability to block ranged. In exchange it’s special can still power up the maul and has the one two single target combo of the power mauls light attacks. I really want more weapons for the Ogryn and I think this and/or a 2 handed power maul would be a great addition.

My favorite ogryn thing ive been running is just foing wild with point blank barrage and a ripper fun or stubber and the upgrade that adds fire damage and it is just unbelievably silly and fun. Plus its and excuse to use the pocket nuke grenade which is always fun.

I like the big bomb and bull charge over the rock and taunt, these also work incredibly well in the build even while I'm still leveling up from 20. Because while the rocks are hillarious, there is just something about having to press 2 buttons to turn everything in a 16 meter radius into a fine red fleshy paste with 1 giant BOOM that I cannot go without. The only problem is that now I'm fighting the zealot and sometimes also the veteran for any grenade drops 😂

I think the Charge with bleed damage on the left hand side is superb - but charging through huge fields of enemy - with all the bleed buffs and damage buffs - it exponentialises your team kill speed. I bull charge everything to deal with that passive damage over time. Then regen ability speed is cool - you can literally charge every 30s.

When fighting high density armor, slab shield benefits from block canceling heavy1 over and over. Heavy2 has better damage spread on horses but heavy1 has higher armor pen.

I think I’m going to run this build for my shield ogryn il try it out tonight. I might try to keep My nuke grenade if possible though as I’m not great tossing the rock.

You didnt show case this enough but the push attack overhead actually has respectable singlw target damage, just like the mace and shield in vt2. Against maulers you can start with either a push attack into heavy and spam push attack while the mauler is down, or start with heavy and then push attacks.

I love that the shield is now good but I think the shovel beats it. Now that the heavies don't have a cap to how many it can hit it also spreads bleed very well in crowd like the shield but the single target damage against carapace or maniac is way better. Though the shield obviously can block ranged fire and It does do much better if there's a crowd of heavily armored targets, I think the shovel doing better single target against the toughest enemies makes it slightly better. It also gets the brittleness blessings which is just more damage for the team. Doesn't mean I'm gonna take off shield though.

Did they nerf the Batter passive? It only gives me +4 stacks of bleed on Heavy Melee Hit.

Did you know that weapon melee can apply bleed? Some weapons like the Kickback and Rumbler melee are super fast. They have wide sweeping attacks as well.

Ogryn has merge onto himself the rioter and the law-enforcer, it has become a force of nature a thunderstorm that draw its energy from the paradox of its existence. It has become SMASH the bender of jaw. This is magnificent I guarantee there will be meme about the 'Gryn soon.

Thank god the slab shield is good now It was ridiculous how weak ogryns melee were before it made no sense. Also I still find that the classic ripper can opener is the best range weapon for ogryn but everything but the kickback feels good.

Why max health over say, toughness? is it just because of the higher return on investment for the percentage?

The moment where you had like 60 G come at you with shields that's why I carry a rumbler it shuts that shit down in a hurry.

This is great Indypride! Love that you mentioned theme a lot and trying to honor the rp factor of it all. One thing I would add, is just mentioning what cosmetics you think fit best with theme. I know in this situation its obvious(most tbh), but I still think it would be nice to hear. Maybe that's just me, but I also know that for some of these theme builds you can have multiple options for cosmetics to match. Would love to see what cosmetics you think work best for these rp/theme builds(obvious and not). Thanks for the vids

For me, the best way to protecc is to attacc Punies are so fragile that you need to bonk the heretics fast. That's why I went full heavy attack with the shovel (good balance between dmg, stagger and attacc speed) and the charge to rush at downed punies and/or big box of hurt to aoe kill/stagger everything in 360°. Now that it procs even if you throw it on the ground, it's the perfect panic solving solution along with the rumbler. Dakka spec is fun but you burn so much ammo that it should be called "I need more boolets !!! " And nothing is as satisfying as bonking crushers and other flak armoured and cutting horde like grass

What counts as "fully charged" for Crunch? Messing around with it in the meat grinder, it only seemed to apply to heavies held long enough they went off on their own (showing up briefly on the buff bar when they did).

I prefer the toughness reple and damsge reductiom from the feel no pain keystone. It makes the ogryn basically live in toughness despite having 500 hp. Makes you incredibly tanky and unkillable. Then I use rumbler with adhesive grenades for bosses, bulwarks and crushers while rocking a cleaver III for small stuff with confident strike. Soo much toughness replen that I never die and live in toughness. I carry games hard with this build. Melting monstrosities with barrage ulty and nuking rooms with my rumbler while still having my rocks.

Still a viable build or are there tweaks needed? I heard bleed has been nerfed, but I still have it used

I did this build but swap out *toughness damage reduction for 10%* - *Payback* (for 25% damage increase if I take melee damage) *+15% toughness* - *Soften them up* (15% damage increase to enemy) *unstoppable* - *attention seeker* (only to get payback)(also *unstoppable* only gives a increase of 10% when the stack is max so you only get 2.5% more toughness with just the *best defence* perk alone, no idea the scale with linchpin on top of it, beside are you going to have 5 full stack every time in a battle, not really since you got teammates killing them as well) *rock* - *box of hurt* (to get soften them up) *linchpin* - *Crunch* (for that 40% damage increase for fully charged heavies and I regen toughness fast anyways so don't really need linchpin if I kill the enemy faster that they can damage plus I can stagger them so if they're able to hit me as well when they're knocked on their ass) and when I get everything going as all my passives damage multipliers and action multipliers, on paper I could get a damage increase of 155% increase for fully charged heavy (cause Crunch) 185% increase for fully charged heavies if I attack Ogryn type monsters 115% increase for normal heavy attacks 145% increase for normal heavy attack if I hit a Ogryn type monsters I haven't add up the bleed damage, rend damage and impact damage only the pure damage stats on the skill lines, so the damage number could be higher on paper, but known fat shark there's probably a cap on max damage increase
