The Burton Custom Flying V Snowboard Review 

I fit the type of rider you described and enjoyed the board. I'm ignorant and like the base model Corolla. Id love to get on something better but I rode one for two days and enjoyed. Im almost 50 and haven't boarded in 15 years. This board made me feel like I was shredding. Even though I wasn't.

Angry, rode the agent today, freaking beast. Like the old one but thinner lighter and more playful. I can really carve into the front heel and toe edges for sharp turns. Ollies are so good and if I had more tricks I bet I could do more with this board.

Im a high level beginner-low level intermediate rider and just bought a 2022 flying V with genesis step on bindings for 300 bucks. It sounds like it could be a good board to continue the progression

What snowboards from libtech and gnu would be best for me, and I want a camber based profile. I rip park laps with larger jumps (60ft) while still trying to jib around, I also love to hammer like 3 or 4 groomer runs. I'm 5'6 130lbs, preferably stiffer(for me/my size)

What's the best All-Mountain-Freestyle for someone like me who's new to snowboarding. I've got a hang of all the basics and started practicing in the park, any suggestions for a board that will perform in the park but won't hinder progress on the rest of the mountain?

Love the honesty in your videos!! I’ve had a Flying V custom for a couple of years now and have a trip planned to breck/keystone in a couple of weeks. I’m thinking of grabbing one of the hometown hero’s before the trip. Mostly groomers and hardly any time spent in the park. As a mid intermediate guy, would this be a good transition?

Have the 2015 model. Pretty much spot on. And now I want to upgrade that. As I don't like the lack of grip and stability. And its not as flexible as you thought. As a first proper board after a rental its fine. I fucking hate the channel system as well.

What will be the best snowboard Burton custom camber or Flying V. As for someone is going for max 1ns a year for 10 days for winter holidays and snowboard that can do it all more in all mountain and riding with skiiers from Burton line up.

I have one and I fully agree with your comments. Don't buy one unless all you do is butter. It is an anti ollie machine as well.

How do you think the flying v shape compares with the nitro gullwing shape? Do you rate either?

How is it for beginner?

I'm torn, and wanted to love this board. I need a Wide board, but ultimately got this board after coming off an injury and a couple seasons off (partially based on your older review of this board), figuring it might be less work on my knees. I'd say for the people determined to get a FV, go with the Process FV over this. You hit the nail on the head: (1) gotta charge on the back foot, (2) feels like an air hickey puck on flats and also thought "what is going on with this board", (3) if you try to ride it like the camber version the tip/ tail starts flapping around, (4) grip on ice is terrible. However, after living with it, its great for slush/ rocks, the indoor snow-park and on "power days" (ice coast). Also, just like its camber counterpart, there are times where you need to have confidence in the board, and like you said, its not a bad board it's just not a Custom, but still serves a purpose. Full disclosure this was my first reverse camber board, so I ended up buying the a Custom Camber the following season. I find the camber version to be WAY better but still bring this guy along for specific conditions. Thank you for posting this!

I have a forum destroyer double dog from like 2014 with the same profile- I used to love this board until I understood lol- When I got the (last season) yes greats, and have been riding that for 1.5 seasons- yesterday was a POW day, so I was like hm- let’s take the destroyer out for a change- uhh NO! Two runs and I was trudging back to get the greats- Flying V sucks lol- Regular camber just has such a nice platform and strong locked-in feel.. Now I want a directional, camber pow board, and was eying up the yes hybrid-what do you think?... But I’m only 5’ 6” @ 135lbs And they only offer a 157.. Will that be too much board for me? Ty

Its made for side slipping down the hill at like 20 mph tops. an expensive beginner board....why do they even make these. they should do camber underfoot and rocker on nose and tail and make it a twin with this one

Well that sounds just like I imagined it would, I have only ever owned positive camber boards so this was interesting to me. I wonder why so many of Burton's pro slopestyle guys ride this board or the flying V process?

I was that guy when I rented a wide for a heli day. I liked how easy it was to ride. Looked for an equivalent board to buy and my inexperienced eye decided a wide t rice pro looked close enough. That one wasnt so easy.

I had one briefly before understood or was paying attention to shapes. Didn’t make much of an impression. Did the camber version after and was way better.

Well, I'm a low intermediate dork and the Flying V is the only board I've ever owned. I'm ready to trade it in though because I'd like to carve better and have little more pop. So, hey, if I want to trade the old Corolla for, say, something a little more sporty, what Should I get? Cheers!

Why would you review the Camber Flying V? Nobody wants to ride this board. Let's see a review of the Custom Camber, Skeleton Key or One Hitter. Boards people actually ride.

Do not buy it!!! I rode it for two years than bought the Custom. One day I wanted to go into the powder and thought OK, for powder it should be better since it is a hybrid rocker... The first slope I thought over night I forgot how to ride. it is just terrible once you accustom to a good board.

So dramatic difference between all flying v tests year to year. It looks like burton subscription was expiring with bad reviews and was updated when they become better. Have been using this one (20/21) model with Custom X (19/20) - flying V gives noobs and intermediate a chance to get better without injuries and falls, feel speed and when you need more grip, start to carve etc. with less effort. Bad in ice and need more 3ffort on firm snow and speeds higher than 60 km/h.
