This is a great video. The pixel 8 video quality is honestly shocking but the audio leaves a lot to be desired. Just a minor correction for the car, all corvette models in the c8 generation have an 8 speed dual clutch transmission. Cheers
It's probably because of the wind you could hear here and there and the probably used Audio eraser to get rid of the wind noise which made the audio tiny.
@@MaxArtheyDid you notice that he's recording through the back camera when he faces the camera other way his voice is nice and crisp cuz of the mic positioning
The audio phasing is pretty painful in stereo. Mic is super clear when there's no wind though. I wonder if that "Audio Magic Eraser" could have come in handy to tune down the wind.
He was behind the phone using the front camera, making sound poor. That's user error. When he flipped to himself the mics worked great, the way the phone is intended to be used.
@@ianbabiarz7738 wtf kinda logic is that. People often record videos of other people. Sometimes, other people talk. There should be microphones on the front and back of the phone.
It’s not about electric cars - it’s about tech cars. A lot of Combustion engine cars have a lot of tech and Chevy sorta swung at him to test this one as he mentioned
@@NGGPeter the minority isn't the majority. 9/10 zo6 owners over 15k miles haven't had issues. And I'm sure the statistics will be roughly the same as it approaches 100k. Now, 10% of owners having issues is actually high for a production car, but I don't even think it's that much IRL. You just see the issues because negative news sells better than positive and neutral news.
@@NGGPeter it’s been longer than 6 months and in the time I’ve had it I have put 9k miles with roughly half being hard track miles. The people you see with issues is because they didn’t properly follow the break in period and probably don’t service the car as it should be if it’s being tracked.
@@amorgan20111 you are right but I think that 1/10 is simply people who chose not to follow the break in period and are now paying the price. And also there will be some issues over time but all cars will have that, just have to keep it properly maintained.
Missed a ton of tech. In track mode there are sub traction modes for varying levels of traction off. It also has a wet race mode in PTM. It has a electronically controlled rear LSD that couples to the drive modes. It has GPS memeory nose lift so it remembers places you go regularly it auto lifts when you get close. The Bose audio system also has noise canceling to help reduce certain engine noises and tire noise.
Something also cool about the ZO6 is how the intake design works to achieve such high naturally aspirated horsepower numbers. It essentially has different valves that open and close inside the intake at different RPM levels that optimizes the air travel path to each cylinder. It does this to the point where it actually achieves higher than atmospheric pressure (basically supercharging without a supercharger). It's a little more complicated than I explained, but the channel EngineeringExplained did a great video on how it works.
Mr Brownlee should have done more homework. Along with what you're talking about, this car is freaking loaded out in crazy amounts of tech. Highly sophisticated engineering. The C8 Z06 is a modern automotive marvel. I'm a bit disappointed that he missed so much.
Yeah, I mean in order to explain some of these things though, you have to get really in depth. And for the audience that watches his videos, It gets to a point where it might make the video boring to normal viewers because of how technical everything gets. So I understand him not going into crazy detail about some of the technology. Still cool he does stuff like this though. @@ninthcloud6331
@@elchoronanofor sure. I want them to make a crate version of this engine so i can build my own factory 5 daytona coupe with this engine, and a manual transmission, rwd just straight to the wheels. That is the dream. This engine, in a lightweight frame. No tech, just you and the car. That is my dream car. If i had to, i would buy a completely wrecked z06 and pull that engine out if i had to.
@@user-rm7kb3il6x That would be cool if you could pull it off, but I'd say good freaking luck separating that motor from it's countless ECU's that allow for that engine to make the power it does.
This was a great video! I have watched every episode and I am now convinced this is the channel I look forward to watching the most when I get the notification.
MKBHD love the Auto Focus channel , your tech perspective on cars is just awesome and love that you don't drive just EVs , cant wait for more, keep up with great work :)
I'd like to see the same video without the noise suppression with the Magic Audio Eraser. There's clear audio distortion in louder environments as the software tries to keep vocal audio but also reduce wind noise, environmental noise, etc. This is to be expected as I haven't come across Audio noise suppression that doesn't do this.
really enjoyed the demonstration of the different driving modes while driving. even with the audio being somewhat limited, you can appreciate the different experiences with each mode.
I’ve watched your channel on occasion, but never terribly interested in the cars you test. This one was a stretch for you, and it was well done. Very nice and competent review. Most focus on this car’s performance, so your tech approach was an interesting new perspective. Keep on stretching, you did great.
that quality is insane 🔥🔥🔥 the color, detail, DOF, all that... blown away. just throw a shotgun mic and you have the best auto video ive seen out a phone.
You should try one of the plug-in hybrid Porsche Panameras. In terms of tech, it is both an electric car and a gas car and having to seemlesly blend both of those into one vehicle that is both high performance while still giving an even more stealthy mode. On a completlety different note, the new Fiat Topolino or the Citroen Ami(same platform) would be amazing for you to test. Compact affordable electric cars that have more character than anything else 10X their price. Perfect for the city
Came here to test the stable volume feature after listening to your mention of it in the waveform, and even tho i had the feature for months, only now, I noticed the difference it makes!! It is very significant how much smoother the engine start sounds with stable volume on, at the loud parts, it lowers it whereas with the stable volume off, it punches right through your ear( not the good way)
Love corvettes. Always have since I was a kid and these are no exception. The wind on this video was killing me though. I never noticed on the other videos shot on iPhones so idk if its a pixel thing or if it was just an especially bad day.
If you could get the new nsx that’d be cool. I wonder if it’s ‘hybridness’ is still up to par with the advances and new standards for what you would expect from a car like that. Also if anything is new/different from when it first came out. But ofc you should do cars you want to!!
Not hard to guess the Pixel 8 or Pixel 8 Pro when you can hear the wind way louder compared to the iPhone ... and most importantly when we spot the Pixel Watch on your hand in some of the shots :D
Damn this camera shows literally every micro detail on ur face. I dont think id want my face revealed like that tho, the rest of the video (coloring, sharpness etc) looks great. I wish there is an option to reduce the sharpness of my face Edit: U can see at 5:11 that its a Pixel 8 pro :D
Thank you for doing these experiments with using smartphones for actual video recordings. This just gives so much better perspective than other RU-vidrs who just take biased 10 second samples to prove their point!
Thanks for best car review i inspire a lot i am interested in cars not outside but interior design also i watch two months car review and i learned a lot like ford Mercedes history i can't believe i miss the best thing now i am very happy because of your best review content i think this is all everyone need thank you and i will say again keep it up and nobody will stop you yes I am right because we love your content and we watch your contents
Idk why, but I would be down to watch an Auto Focus on a normal/obtainable car like a 2023 Civic Touring or Camry. I love seeing all of these “cars I wish I could afford” videos but what do you think of normal cars yk
I love that you tested a non electric car. There’s pretty much no feature in an electric car that can make up for the amazing noise of a car like this!
bro i dont know if you noticed your skin looks so chared but in a nice way also the colours much more natural yet vibrant ..... lots of love from South africa
@@kabulbolan It’s definitely not as good as the iPhones, yes. The mic quality was muffled and sounded compressed, and the indoors recording had grain the shadows, but it’s certainly much better than before. The skin tones and depth of field were spot on. I can’t wait for him to test the Video Boost feature it comes out and see how that fairs :)
It’s because old people were opening the frunk when getting into the car and driving at low speeds. It was going off in their pocket, they didn’t see the warning on their dash, then got shocked when they broke the frunk from it flying up on the highway. Chevy patched this into all C8s and changed the original behavior.
There is a lot of information about the drivetrain development, suspension design, and chassis integration that could be mention. The Z06 has the LT6 flat-plane crank V8, the double-wishbone suspension has increased spring rates and Z06-specific dampers with adjusted rebound, and not to mention the electronic limited-slip differential that dramatically influences the driving dynamics.
The video looks amazing. Went into the description to check what phone was it, and it is redacted! We are up to some surprise? Audio is not that good though, that wind kills all of it. upd. This isn't Pixel 8 Pro's Video Boost in action, is it?
From the reflection visible on the cockpit display it looks like the Pixel 8 Pro, the flash on the right side of the back (lower half in the reflection, when positioned horizontally on the left side) and not vertically centered with the lens gives it away.
"Wow... that is really loud. You probably can't (even) hear me (talking) right now, but..." I'm kinda impressed that I was able to lip-read so well. Especially over the C8's 5.5L BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR machine. 😂
Nice video quality from the pixel Specially your skin tone looks more accurate I think, because of the contrasty look, but I notice some over sharpening in the video Other than that it looks good 👍
Holy hell the video looks amazing. Wooooowza Google really gave the video a good shake this year. Compared to the Amazon truck vid this is much better if not for the audio haha.
@@kabulbolanhyundai going bankrupt? Lol where did you hear that. They bought Boston dynamics a few years ago for 1bn, and recently aquired 11% of Rimac..
The color specs looks nice but my preference is all black interior (including columns and ceiling) because during the summer the sunlight on a light colored interior hurt your eyes, specially if you have to drive using normal glasses like me and not using sun glasses. The red interior is a better option to light colors like this one in the video.
Pixel 8 pro's video looks pretty solid. Did you use the audio eraser to remove the wind noise or would that give it away immediately? I wouldn't say the audio is bad though
One of these showed up in my neighbours driveway last summer for a few weeks. SO friggin loud when it starts up. Pray you never have one on your street lol.
