THE CABIN IN THE WOODS -- movie reaction -- FIRST TIME WATCHING 

Underrated fun fact: One of the monsters on the board is "angry molesting tree."

"Cleanse them. Cleanse the world of their ignorance and sin. Bathe them in the crimson of... Am I on speakerphone?" As much as I love this movie, I love Tucker And Dale Vs Evil (2010) better. It also lampoons horror movies, while having an important message of not judging a book by its cover and communication is key to avoid conflict. I find it hard to find a moral message in this movie. Fun Fact: The movie's opening was a deliberate attempt by filmmakers Drew Goddard and Joss Whedon to confuse the audience and make them think they walked in to see the wrong movie. High Technology Fact: The thermal coffee mug/bong was a fully functional mug and bong as portrayed in the film, the prototype of which cost $5000 to make. Spartan Workout Fact: During the lake scene, the only student not to jump into the lake is Marty, who remains fully clothed on the dock. This was partially due to Fran Kranz noticeably being in as good, if not better, shape than the other male students. In the commentary for the film, the writers joke that he was "ripped like muscular Jesus" and assert that if Marty were shown being that fit it would ruin the character. This is partly why Marty wears baggier clothes than the other students.

I'm a latecomer to this channel, so this comment probably won't be seen by anyone(lol), but this movie is a metaphor for the horror film industry. The protagonists are the movies, the watchers/manipulators are the studios, and the old ones are us(the audience). The film's message is that the horror film industry is in trouble because the genre has been reduced to a formula that the studios think is all that needs to be followed to make money. But when all movies become that formulaic, audiences become desensitized to the genre and stop showing up(it's why all the other countries are now regularly failing the ritual - only Japan and the US have had regular success, but even those are now failing). (this is a simplified explanation, but I don't want to write an essay on the topic, and others online have done far better write-ups than I(not a horror fan) could ever do)

I am so NOT a horror movie person, never have been. Have always hated being scared, especially jump scares. But there are a handful of horror movies that i do enjoy, this being one of them. Perhaps its the humor aspect of it, i dont know. But excited to see what your thoughts are on this.

I think those film wheels are like the movie Sinister & My question is, where they in a dome? They said earlier that that the plot was sold over and over and Marty wasn’t killed that hacking sound was Marty killing the zombie with a trowel. And finally WHY TF WOULD THEY PUT A BIG BUTTON THAT SAID PURGE THAT RELEASES THE MONSTERS
