Wow.. Not a single tear? Ice Queen is in the house. 🥶 JK.. loved your reaction, your editing and synopsis... And loved the fact you even reacted to this vastly under rated film. (Thank you Chris) You got my sub, hope to see other overlooked movies that deserve a reaction and not the same thirty or so all the other reactors keep passing around. Something like maybe Rob Roy, a great action/romance period piece with Liam Nieson. 🤔👍😎❤️
the music ? Conducted by Andrew Powell Performed by The Philharmonia Orchestra, While all the tracks are written by conductor Andrew Powell, director Richard Donner wanted Alan's signature sound to be highlighted and it is here, beautifully ...
You're too damn civilized. When I was a kid, George Jefferson said the N word every week. Tanner's words were great for their shock value. Ads for the Bad News Bears were printed on the backs of comic books. They really advertised this movie.
"What happens if you get to the Enterprise-Z?" Well... honestly, they never should have added letters to begin with. The only time the letters made sense was with the 1701-A, because it was still of the same hull type as the 1701 (first production-line ship of the 17th starship class) The name should always be just "Enterprise", and if they are going to establish some tradition with the numbering, it should have simply been the -01 For example, rather than 1701-B, the Excelsior-class Enterprise should have instead followed the Excelsior NX-2000 as the first production model of its class, NCC-2001 Then, about a half century later, the Ambassador-class Enterprise to follow should have been NCC-10501 instead of NCC-1701-C, and so forth All that said, it would have retroactively fixed the problem if the later (or rather, earlier) original Enterprise being NX-01 There is simply no real world example of any vessel of any kind getting letters added to their registry just because they carry the same name (like the aircraft carriers named Enterprise being CV-6, CVN-65, and soon CVN-80), nor was there any precedent in any Star Trek up to that point of letters added to the registry either. I imagine an alternate timeline where either Voyage Home ended with a different starship reveal, where instead of passing by the Excelsior, it instead panned down to see the Excelsior name replaced with the name Enterprise - or as Kirk and crew get their new Enterprise, the "Next Generation" existed at the same time, and they were instead the crew of the Excelsior (still Jean Luc Picard, Riker, Data, Troi and all the rest, but simply being in the 23rd Century rather than the 24th), then you'd have all the opportunity in the world for TOS cast cameos without having to have some timey wimey contrivance to get them involved.
Great eye and ear on the difference between the kids acting in this time and the 90's and up. Very true. This movie they simply made it so natural and real. 👍
Underrated Movie. Fantastic Actors, wonderful script - and dont forget the Awesome Soundtrack. (Well, and Redford and Kingsley on the Roof it so absolutly good).
I just found your channel and loved your reaction to what has to be my favorite film of all time. It's tremendous and ridiculously underrated. Many view Sunshine as a spiritual experience. Exploring the interplay between Science and Faith and the symbolic power of the sun (viewed as god). Pinbacker's character serves as an allegory of extreme fundamentalism. Some of the crew of the Icarus 2 also experienced some form of minor obsession with the Sun, with Dr. Searle exhibiting the most extreme form. Wish more reactors would give this a chance. Many don't even know of its existence. Glad you did! You managed to pick up on a lot things that many first time viewers don't. Sunshine is a pretty layered film, so very astute of you! I’ve also worked with a few space psych experts who actually consulted on Sunshine. They always speak to the level effort that was put into every aspect of this film. I break down the film from diff perspectives on my channel if you want a deeper dive into some of the themes/lore. Cheers!
This was a abbreviated story knowing that there was so much to tell in a short 2 hour film. What I'm waiting for yet is a film about our women pilots during the war, as a historian for the WASP WW2. They lost pilots also during their duties for the Nation. The backgrounds of what American women did even impressed the enemies when officers were interviewed after the war. They never imagined using their own woman in the capacity of what our gals were doing.
This film I felt was better than the big screen presentation years later. Had some disappointments with that presentation. I like my copy of this one better. Also the Tuskegee Institute was the last quarter in line for the Nation Parks quarter series. One of the fliers is on the face as well as three of the aircraft they mastered. You can still come across them in change. I saved all the clean ones I found and passed them out to the younger black kids for inspiration.
The Jedi are dishonorable hypocrites. Notice how they like to fight two or more on one? That is not honorable. They bend the rules to suit them. Dooku was right the whole time. He saw it coming and they would not listen to him. And they are soooooo arrogant. There is a good reason the Jedi Order fell apart. They were never "right" to begin with.
This one of a very few movies that depict my people as other than mindless savages. This movie shows the Lakota people as they truly were. We were not beggars and thieves, we were proud, strong people who valued family and friend above all. The whites unfortunately chose another route. The Natives that killed Timmons were Pawnee, they could be short tempered. I am Cheyenne and like our Lakota brother, we faced the same persecution as they. But, we were not savages. Another movie for you to watch ha to do with my people teh Cheyenne it called "the last of the dogmen". I think you like it.
Such an underrated and lesser known movie. I LOVE the plot, until the 3rd act where IMO it falls a bit flat. I wish it had remained a bit more science-y and didn't drop into a horror style movie.
I always tell people to watch this movie in order to understand my condition. The whole hand sanitizer thing was great, but I have to touch the bottle, so I have to clean the bottle. This can go on for awhile because it may not be clean enough. When I was a kid, I had this thing with the number 3, I could tell you about it but the counting would take forever. I do go though a lot of soap, I'm sure the soap makers are happy. Anyway, you learn to deal with it.
The odd color range, such as the blue grass, was used to replicate the colors in the two-color Technicolor process of the day. Most people are only familiar with films shot in the later three-color process such as "The Wizard of Oz" but for a while, blue grass was the height of color movies 😊
11:26 "Is that Chris Evans?" => I often wonder why you reactors rarely look up the movie you're gonna react to. I mean, avoiding spoilers is a good idea, but checking who directed and who acts in the movie isn't a risky move. Entertaining reaction, aside from that. :D Sunshine isn't a perfect movie, but it's visually gorgeous, the CGI are still top-notch, and John Murphy's music is legendary. But why that obsession with aliens...?! Why the need for aliens? Granted, the movie turns into a freakin' slasher in its third act, which is a bit too reminiscent of Event Horizon, but it kinda works. Bringing in aliens would have been silly. And... the movie is very, very INACCURATE scientifically. I mean, I called BS the first time I heard the size of their bomb, back in 2007, and it's not the only inaccuracy. Luckily, Sunshine isn't a documentary. It's a great movie on the idea of sacrifice. Its loneliness.
"Days of Heaven" and "Looking for Mr. Goodbar" are 2 good Richard Geer movies. "Days of Heaven" has a 97% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Winger and Geer didn't get along.
It isn't a comedy. You think he has been gray all of his life? He was 32 when it was released. When remarking about Zach's behavior remember it came from his father and being left alone in the Philippines while his dad was qt sea.
The really tragic thing is that there was no good treatment for OCD in Howard Hughes’ time. Think of how much more Hughes would have been able to accomplish, just in the aviation field, had he not been so terribly burdened by that disorder.
Those circular things at the beginning are mirror arrays used for harvesting solar power. There are 3 of them that you can easily see from I-15 in SoCal, about 5 miles SW of Primm at the Nevada border.
@@okchristina I live in Oregon now, so it’s been a while since the last time I drove out that way. I would assume the Blade Runner versions were made to look even more futuristic than the real world examples, but they are still a very impressive sight to behold. On a sunny day, all the surrounding mirrors get oriented to reflect sunlight toward the top of the central towers, which causes them to light up so incredibly bright. You can see them from super far away when they’re lit up like that.
On a “somewhat” funny note when I was younger I was fishing and got a hook through my hand! 😩😂. Though wasn’t nearly that big or serious. I did have to go to the ER but was fine…. BTW if you research this storm it did what very few storms do. It strengthened and kinda went the opposite direction they usually go. It strengthened VERY quickly. Sad story but I do like the movie! Thanks Christina! 🎣😉
This was the movie that first made Spielberg a household name, along with John Williams. It was also the first summer blockbuster; prevailing wisdom until then had been that people don't want to go see movies in the summer, so major movies weren't released then. When Jaws broke all previous box office records, that changed. Closing credits were never very long before Star Wars, made two years after Jaws. And I suspect that what Brody has on his stomach is an appendicitis scar, which he knows won't bear comparison to what Quint and Hooper have.
The opening crawl of written narration fading into the background in the Star Wars movies is based on the similar openings of the Flash Gordon serial installments in the thirties and forties. Flash Gordon also inspired the Star Wars concepts of the interplanetary emperor, the city in the sky, and the forest world. The character of Ming the Merciless in the Flash Gordon comic strips was a shameless ripoff of the character of Dr. Fu Manchu in Sax Rohmer's novels, complete with beautiful, rebellious, amoral daughter.
Really appreciate how your understanding of the reality of OCD affected your viewing of this. Among other things! And you're a Rufus fan! (His dad is also in this somewhere) subscribed !
