I'm filming almost all my videos with the Lumix G7 for my @altermore channel. I like this cam. From 2015 to 2023 this cam is still relevant. I buy my one I think I. 2020 and I'm pretty much happy with that. Because of your recommendation I want to buy a power adapter to use G7 for streams so thnx bro! 🙋🏻♂️
Actually wanted to tell you thank you. It was because of your videos that we decided to go with the Panasonic LUMIX G7. Once I shot the video for our 100 Subscriber giveaway I knew I made the right choice 110%. Wishing you much success this new year! -Dave
I disagree. I have the same and work with it. Its slow motion is crippled and extreme low bitrate. Also the autofocus is horrible with too much lens breathing. Can use it as a good family camera for trips and travel etc. No serious slow mo work (which is nowadays the prime neccesity for that "cine" look).
I have four of them. It’s good. More money would get you better low light and full frame would give you a sharper image but for the money it’s unbelievable.
4K mode has its caveats. Every 10 minutes it creates a new file creating a gap in the audio and it freezes for 2 frames. It also has a 10% crop (not as big a deal as the file issue)
Nice presentation. I appreciate the way you move beyond the hype and $$$$$ aspect, but emphasize that most of us don't need the Next Great Thing. I'm wondering how this compares with the G85, G95 or even the G9. If Panasonic does make an affordable micro 4/3 camera with similar great IBIS but with better AF, I'd be extremely interested. Thanks.
I just bought a G7 after using a 10 year old hand-me-down Nikon for several years and I couldn’t be happier. I’m a newbie to photography and videography and it’s definitely a bit of a learning curve but I feel I can get the hang of it pretty soon. I only have the kit lense and a cheap but surprisingly good microphone, but I imagine when I inevitably upgrade I’ll have many accessories for it. Looking forward to many years of great photos and videos!
G7 Lumix I agree it's one of the best camera out there in the market specially prise range and doesn't over heat I been using this camera since I bought it in 2016 and I use it heavy here in Las Vegas Nevada which is hot in the summer use it at lake Mead . use 4 TIMES AT one of the hottest location in the states DEATH VALLEY CALIFORNIA and it did survive. Plus I love that you cud bypass the 30 min record limit and have several hours recording limits asome either in 4k or FHD and you cud use multiple lense with a adapter ECT. I love this camera not looking forward yet to purchase a new camera if I do upgrade will be the next new Lumix.👍😉
I was surprised that I film in Puerto Rico and Arizona in the summer time and didn't over heat I cundt believe it I had this camera since it came out in I believe in 2016 I got it July and still now in 2023 this baby still rolling going strong.sonfsr one of the best camera for the prise
2:00 The unlimited recording time seems to me limited to non-european models. My german model and a model from Denmark I know can access 4k 30 fps, but not the unlimited recording.
So I've recently bought a Lumix G7 from a friend of mine and I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this. While I love the video's I am producing with it, in the same lighting condition I find the photo's I shoot with it downright ugly. I've been doing my best to adjust the settings to improve it but I just don't like what comes out ever. Is there something obvious I am missing? When I shoot photo's in simular conditions with my Canon EOS 60D everything just looks much more natural.
I'm looking at this G7 camera but still do not understand if I need it or my iPhone 13 pro max is better/worse. Or perhaps just an upgrade to iPhone 14 pro max? I'd like to make 4k videos (primarily of nature) and photos that can be printed in 16x24 inch size. I learned that sensor size is what's important, but do not understand how to compare the following sizes: iPhone 13 pro max - 1/1.7, iPhone 14 pro max 1/1.28", G7 - Four Third. So will G7 actually be any good for me or iPhone will just do the job? It's quite convenient just carrying the phone rather than a camera if it won't be any upgrade in terms of the actual camera. Thank you!!
A smartphone because of its smaller sensor will be noisier than a bigger Camera (espescially if you're recording indoors or at night time). However in well lit outdoor environments i think you can get Video footage on a smartphone that looks equaly as good as the G7. I don't know about the newer iPhones but on my Sony Xperia XZ and XZ2 i have overheating issues when recording longer videos so thats also a reason to get a Camera. However the G7 doesn't have in camera stabilisation and the mega o.i.s. stabilisation on most Panasonic Objectives is bad. So unless you need the mic input, remote shutter input or Cine-D color profile of the G7 i would recommend you to choose a GX80 over the G7 (same Sensor but with in body stabilisation) which in Germany also cost around 300€ used. The newer Olympus Cameras are known to have the best in body stabilisation but are also really pricy (more than 500€ for a used EM1 mkII)
i have high end computer with a RTX-4090 24GB in it, do i still need a capture card to stream using the Lumix G7 ? I want to make sure, so I don't go & buy a capture card without needing one Thanks in advance!
Excellent video and just what I was looking for. I did not realize one could use an adaptor for Canon lenses. Do you still get AF (auto focus) with the Canon lens? I have a Canon 55-250 STM and love it. Will that lens also work? Thanks much!
3 more questions : 1) Is there a standard version of this camera for both the US and UK markets 2. Will the modern monitors / displays distort the 8 bot video when it is showing it 3) what are your thoughts on the standard 14-42 lens for youtube ?
Since you you have a “G” lens the only mounts available require you to use manual focus and aperture. The Viltrox NF M43X is what you can use 👉amzn.to/3iGtVjc
Hello, I am looking between the G7 against the G85(G80), I find the latest at basically the same price. There's some reason to not pick the G85 with a sensor stabilisation? Thx
Your videos are great bro. Always enjoy lumix enjoyers. My experience I shot on my G7 for a full year and produced some fantastic shots. Recently picked up a G85 and that may replace my G7 as my run and gun main shooter simply due to the IBIS. But I'll NEVER sell my G7. It's served me well. Will probably stay a b roll or talking head cam sitting on a tripod
seez Greetings, in what way, can I have the panasonic lumix g7 camera powered with direct current, apart from its battery, there is another way, to be able to record or transmit live for long now, thanks
Unfortunately, the dummy battery method is the only way to power the G7. You can connect the dummy battery to an external battery bank and use that if you are looking for a mobile solution. The dummy battery is a simple adapter so as long as you provide 7-9 volts it will work.
Why are you talking about rumors of a better autofocus in a video about a great 2015 budget camera? It has nothing to do with the subject of the video feels like a ramble and all over the place.
I love the canon 50 as long as you use the speed booster! My latest videos on my channel were shot with it. You can get a really blurry background if that’s a look your going for !
Yes, the HDMI out can be up to 4K. You can also change it in the TV settings on the menu if you need a different output. Check out my live streaming video for for info on how to do that 👉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dDi6vTUbxcY.html
Doe sit have a clean HDMI output? Planning a podcast with 2 cam setup. I already volunteered my GH5ii for cam1 😁. Video feed to be sent to OBS for recording so I don't think it will be hit by the 29mins limitation.
@@SeezSantos cool thanks. I was planning to use a combo of Fz2000 and GH5ii but the fz2000 video is not as good as the GH5ii and it shows... A G7 should be a bit closer (M43). Currently looking at the classifieds in my neck of the woods. What do you reckon would be a fair price for a G7 + kit lens these days? Thanks much and have a good Sunday!
I bought a G9 but the G7 is still a very solid camera. Matter fact there’s a shoot coming up where I’ll need to use a much more compact system and they are shooting in 1080p so I’m going to use the G7 for it instead. Great little camera
Thanks for the input, thinking about trying this one out. Was hesitant but, I would like to try something different. I’ve only really used canon and Sony.
Hi Seez ... thanks for the video. I have 3 questions . 1) What exact hack to do to ensure no overheating 2) Does the micro 4/3 come standard or do you need to purchase 3) what happens when you do have movement on camera ( eg : showing items / products for the camera to focus on ?)
Hello, I enjoyed your video on the G7. I had a question for you though. I am a beginning photographer enthusiast basically just to shoot my three sons sports action photos. Do you think the G7 would be sufficient to do that or would I need something with better auto focus to capture those split second moments when they’re swinging a baseball bat, etc. thank you
My Lumix G7 was a great camera...until the mechanical shutter failed. Sure, the electronic shutter still worked but the premature failure of the mechanical shutter disappointed me (it had less than 6K shutter count). It's all good, though. I replaced it with the Lumix G9. :)
Leave it to RU-vid and your smart messaging to convince me to own one! Bought one from a trusted and dear friend, and am excited to cut content - Am curious though about the matching Image App - learning about some of the many settings (noticeably focus pulls, etc.), can the Image App mimic much of what you're showing us?
Your videos are great!! Have loved using the G7 for years and have traveled with it everywhere. It does indeed stand the test of time! I am getting into Real Estate photography now and was curious which is the best AF/Metering Mode to get as much good resolution for entire rooms....'49-Area'? Also, I'll be shooting in 'Auto Bracket' and need three continuous exposures 2 F-Stops apart(1 under exposed, 1 normal, and 1 over exposed). I noticed when you set it for 3 exposures, it only allows you to set it 1 F-Stop apart, unless you increase the exposures to 5, or up to 7 exposures. I only need 3. Is there any way to shoot only 3 exposures 2 F-Stops apart? Thanks!
Those were “sold” listings that I screen grabbed from eBay when I created this video. So yes you can find them for those prices. You just have to time the market right and have some alerts setup to find them that cheap.
Please i need your help in deciding which camera to buy between Canon 7D mkii or Panasonic G7 or Panasonic HcPv100 camcorder. Im into livestreaming treat as urgrnt
hi thanks for the review I have a question ive been using the panasonic fz1000 which is a bridge camera ,its a great camera but a bit bulky i use it mainly for videos on youtube and occasionally i use it out doors for photos my question is this is the g7 a good upgrade over the fz1000? low light etc thanks so much looking foward for your answer
I learn a lot from your videos, and I have the G7. The other day I was experimenting with settings and now my lcd screen is black and white! What did I mess up, and where? Many Thanks again...
@@SeezSantos The LCD panel on the back was greyscale but the pictures and videos were in color. I finally found what I had changed and now I'm a happy camper. Glad to know I have a great camera. Many Thanks.!!.
@@SeezSantos I’ve had two photo shoots already haha. Homies who are letting me practice. I’m also taking Phil Whiner’s photography master course on Udemy! It’s been teaching me a lot. So far, this has been the best camera I have ever had in my hands. The phone is there but yk, nothing like the Lumix. I’ve also been subscribed to you for awhile since I was trying to pick which camera to get and you were the one who did the most content to it. You’re actually one of the reasons why I got the Lumix!!!! Thanks for the content!
Lots people didn't like this camera people gave it such a bad review do to it's focus point and stabilization..to me this camera is asome I use it alot with different lens and tell you what find a lens with build in stabilization you can't go wrong.i love it
I got a second G7 Lumix back up for $240 at a pawnshop in Las Vegas at EAZYPAWN IF YOU IN VEGAS CHECK OUT THE PAWNSHOPS NEAR YOU MITE FIND SOME HELL OF A DEAL
Thank you for the information. Informative video. If I may ask, do you know any “affordable” tripod that is also a stabilizer for the G7? Thank you again.
I have this camera. Yes it shoots HD in 60fps....but......at what cost......at some 6Mbps bitrate which is a joke for even a serious youtuber or semi pro....the slow mo footage doesn't have enough bit depth to grade or do anything serious with it. If your looking at a familial camera for home usage, then its fine.
Hello, thanks for this very accurate video ! I Bought my G7 in 2017 as a kind of "little brother" for my GH4, which job it did perfectly, most of the strategic gear and settings being the same, the images on both cameras were exactly the same, allowing me to shoot from 2 angles on a minimum budget. Nowadays I'm moved on to other cameras (I'm more into Nikon) but this G7 with the fantastic little 12-32 zoom is always in my pocket on most of my trips. With a minimal size and weight (360+80=440 g for the whole ! compare it with most of other cameras...) it is the perfect tool for improvised street photography, videos, family vacations, and so on. 6 years after I'm still very satisfied with it. All the best :-)
Lumix G7 is an amazing camera. I'm using it for livestreaming right now. Bro what lens is good for livestreaming if I want a very wide FOV but also a slight bokeh when its focused on me?
Hey! Do you have any recommendations for Cages for the G7. Smallrig discontinued the manufacturing of these and can’t even get my hands on a used one. I primarily film and take photos vertically but at this point i’m super desperate for a decent cage.
