In 1994, a sequel to both the film and the original novel Jurassic Park seemed inevitable. In 1995, those hopes were met when Michael Crichton released The Lost World, the second book in his Jurassic World duology.
That same year, work began on the film adaptation of the novel: The Lost World Jurassic Park. During the production of the film, Steven Spielberg commissioned the production of a companion TV series at Dreamworks Television. It was set to premiere after the release of the movie, acting as the film’s pseudo-sequel.
This show was set to take the series in a wildly new direction, introducing the concept of hybrid dinosaurs onscreen, long before the Jurassic World movies.
But much like Escape from Jurassic Park before it, this cartoon was never meant to be.
We return to Jurassic Park with the story of another animated TV series based on the franchise that never came to be.
Join us as we discuss the development and cancellation of the unmade Lost World sequel series, and how it may or may not of influenced the famous Jurassic Park toy line, Chaos Effect.
