I think maybe one reason as to why “the scene is changing” is how overpriced and crazy expensive those 90s-00 JDM cars are being sold for nowadays. Some People see that and would rather have something newer, rather than overpaying/paying a premium for something from the 90s
What's happening in the "scene" happens every couple years actually. I remember back in 99 when kids had new Integra's Civic Si's, VW GTI's etc. Then a couple years later the same kids had EVO's, STI's, SRT-4's and so on. It's like waves of new cars and new money always change the scene. Which is why it's always best (IMO) to stick to the classics 👍
You have to think about it. 4/5 years ago older cars weren’t as expensive. Your regular kid isn’t paying 10k plus for a 240. Or 20k plus for a rhd s chassis. And then put another 7-10k into the car to make it look how they want. The prices are unreasonable high for cars that old.
@@ivanweapon1196 the pandemic ruined it. RU-vidrs just made it worse bc they started paying the high dollar price instead of waiting for them to go back down in price.
@@TNTkix Well I think you guys are both right, but also think about this too one sidedly. It is true that 10 years ago these cars were dirt cheap. They were very sought after drift cars that were thrashed to shit. They also rust like hell, so we have seen more and more of these cars find their way to the scrapyard. The fact is also that we are a new generation who grew up with a love for these cars. Demand is as high, as it ever was for these rare JDM cars. The highest ever demand, paired with the lowest ever supply drives prices up, that's basic economics. Another factor we have to remind ourselves is that a lot of people get FOMO. They want to buy one of these cars now, whatever the price may be and there ARE a lot of people in their 30's who have the money and are willing to put it up. A lot of people also see these cars as an investment or buy the few cheap ones to re-sell them at a higher price. That's especially true for the parts market... Paired with the unreasonable fiat money printing of the FED the last couple of years this is what we got. I sold my S13 this year with a blown engine and still made a profit. I will never own one again, just because like you said, I'm not willing to pay 15k for a kinda shitty OEM S13. I love these cars, but they don't hold THAT much value to me.

I personally thought the amount of quality builds that were at the show was the most I've seen in the past. Definitely something for every fan. Your right there was a lot of newer stuff but as you sifted through there were a lot of Jem's. I was the guy with the gimbal set up that said I liked the number 1 btw. I'll have a full edit done by tonight!
Honestly your car show filming is great. Showing some cars you think are cool and showing your interactions with your friends and everyone is awesome. And wing 2.

Yeah the car show filming is fine, as is lol. It’s great to see you going to them and giving em some attention. I feel like car shows are one of the best ways to bring the community together and create some memorable experiences
When I was a kid the big money cars were hemi/camaro stuff from the early 70s, and is all now worth half or less of what it was when I was. Nothing about the "scene" is "changing", its just how the world is... People have money in their 40s and desire for cars they wanted when they were kids... simple as that.
You and stuff walking around the show talking about what you see is pretty entertaining… I’ve never had any complaints about car show footage in the past three years I’ve been watching though so just keep it up! Also wing 2!

The Oakes top 3! Make a top 3 of the cars YOU like the most of every carshow you go to. Maybe give them an award like merch/stickers or something like that. All cars can only be chosen once for the top 3. This way you'll always show us new things and probably a lot of different styles. Love your videos btw, keep it up!

Ik I’m a little late; but love to see jimmy and Steph both driving 15’s. Gives me ultimate motivation to get the z32’s in my life going so my girl can driver hers and I can drive mine. Especially since hers is a red 2+0 and mines a black 2+2 lol. Love to see the glow up Jimmy 🤘🏽
You don't need much more than that for a car show video honestly, especially if you take out half your cars anyway, that's already heaps of great content just seeing them all together and your friends driving them etc. You could always pick your favourite car at the next show etc, ask the driver some questions or just a shoutout/appreciation would be cool. Wing 2 with roof wing though! Keep killing it Jimmy and Fam!

at around 3:20 the rolling shots were superb. Notice how DJs body panels wiggle during the bump slo-mo. Nice to see Jimmy's cars are solid and no body panel movement. Details.
You’re spot on about the old to new car ratio. Went to a car meet in SD this past weekend and there only 2 other s chassis’s aside from my own. Weird not seeing a lot of 90s cars.
