Usually it's easy for comedians, from what I can see. Comedians become comedians partly because they have a good sense of humour and can see the humour in everything. They notice the funny thing someone else didn't notice and draw it out and show it in such a way that everyone else sees it too.

I was thinking that if I were him I would (secretly or not) give from my own pocket the money I "lost" to the charity. Then again if I was as bad at these games as Jimmy, that kind of generosity would quickly make me poor, so I do get why he wouldn't do that.
