Double Trouble and Strap Me In were just as good as their earlier songs. The Cars didn't know how to write or perform poorly. GREAT memories. Thank you to the two in heaven and the three still with us. ❤❤❤❤❤
Really, one of their best albums. I know they were disappointed in the sales and basically Ric did not want to start playing the smaller venues and could not stand making another album and have it bomb. I did not think their career was over. Wished they had kept going...
@Lisa Surlie Ric was legally blind. They kept his guide dog and cane backstage, so no one would ever suspect. He was like Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, except he played guitar. Just think, he never really knew how beautiful Paulina is.
Absolutely agree. I love this album and wish some more songs from it had gotten more air time. Go Away and Double Trouble are also great songs. The Cars will always be my favorite group. I still can't believe both Ric and Ben are gone. There will never be another Cars concert.
As a guitarist Elliott Easton is one of my big influences.When I was doing the cover band thing I always threw Strap me in on the set list. And everyone loved it and always said Who's that by? TO MY DISMAY😡
Easton's guitar here is every bit as good as anything Clapton ever did. And Greg's dancing is so motivational. Ric's vocals are good, too. But that Easton ....phenomenal!!
The back ground music is all ways sounding like it goes with each song perfectly. It sounds in tune with the lyrics I mean. They chose the music really well.
My god!! Everytime elliot easten has his solo the focus in on greg and benji his solos are what a guitar player like me wants to take up another love... bobby deere...
Great live footage of The Cars' _'Strap Me In'._ Sad that it's plagued by horrible camera work. It's as if the video operator(s) couldn't decide who to focus the cameras on and when. Not to mention, they hardly ever put the camera on Orr (one of the greatest musicians/frontmen to ever live and one of my personal all-time favorite bass players) but for a couple of seconds. Still a testament to the live and raw power that this band had... Benjamin Orr R.I.P... *_THE CARS RULE..._*
I've noticed in numerous videos from this concert, that on the songs Ocasek sings, you don't see Orr for more than a split second, if that. I would bet that Ocasek had a hand in that. He was obviously jealous of Ben.
I think we can also say Requiescat in Pace to Ric Ocasek too, both men were exceptionally talented, and are absolutely missed. Hope they're putting on a great show in the great beyond wherever they are.
Thanks for sharing I attended the show in Allentown Pennsylvania which I believe was before or after the Philadelphia show. Great band, album and show.
This (D2D Tour) was a great one....could have been the best setlist they played! Great song and it sounds great live. Rics voice was a bit haunting on this one. The last time they show Ben, he’s singing and you can hear him a bit, taking the lower harmony. It’s a shame that this was their last album together, they had that magic.
I was thinking the same thing. Almost 2 minutes in we finally get a very short glimpse of Ben at 1:52, then again we see him very briefly at 3:00 min and one last time at 3:27 we see him for a split second. Have noticed the same in other clips of this concert.
Great song but unfortunately a terrible video especially since it's apparently the only one we have of their last tour. Ben was definitely overlooked and some think it was Ric's idea. I would not doubt it as his wife Paulina stated in Rolling Stone that "Ric was the king of a small country but he became too controlling." The stage is dark even though they knew it was being filmed and there seems to be very harsh yellow lighting every time someone is singing. What a mess, it's too bad the band had to end like it did.
The only song I really liked from that album. Sounded awfully good to be live. Wondering if it was enhanced by recordings or something. Love it, anyway.
