this is going to sound dumb, but I think my favourite is still the black knight, just the fact that it actually stands a chance against helos makes it really fun for me
I think I’m in the small percentage who actually likes the Challenger 2’s even if they are slow and don’t turn well (completely accurate to real life, thanks gaijin 😢) there’s just something about cruising along in the 2F, completely covered in Dorchester and getting penned by a stock shell, completely obliterating the crew.
The 2F and TES should definitely be foldered together, as both share similar armour packages, and yeah, the 2E should definitely go after the Vickers as well...
Oh boy I can't wait to sit and research L27A1 for the 5th time...Seriously gaijin if its not the stock shell for other chally 2s it should be a rank 1 mod
Challenger 2 family is generally bad on data, and indeed incompetitive in some aspects, especially consider chally 2E is the overall best chally in game, but the performace is pretty much equal to some other 11.0 or 11.3 tanks. However, sometime challengers can do something many other tanks can't. -The first 4 round has very fast reload, that constanly give me a chance to kill that enemy who just failed to kill me with 1 shot. -The smoke round is incredibly practical in most of the maps. take 4-6 smoke round, they help a lot when you need to move but got many eyes around your spot, when you need to march to the point, when you need to retreat from a tricky spot, the smoke is incredibly helpful, I personally think this is the most important feature that all challengers share. Plus, they also get engine smoke, that doesn't always work but it's good to have it. -Mostly won't die for 1 shot on anywhere on Turret, kinetic round need at least 2 shot to kill you when you only expose turret. When I play with friends, challenger is very good of co-op with other players, you can't be the sledgehammer to destroy the enemy convoy, but you can be a very good assistant to help your team forward easier.
@@cptlogger2948 i honestly hope that they make the challenger 2 megatron a squadron tank since all the noobs get told they suck therefore none of them are going to buy it an britian’s high tier win rates won’t suffer as much as if they put a unique vehicle there then people will be intrigued and then they buy it therefore shit teams incoming also the falcon is by far the best mbt it even works at 10.7.
@@bootlegpete7984 yes but better something that all new players aren’t going to want to buy because everybody calls it shit than something interesting and unique that everybody is going to buy.
Okay the weirdest thing is that with the same gun and round, same performance, the trajectory of the L27A1 whilst passing through the 2E's main cannon is much more tighter than it coming out of ANY other Chally 2's. Yes, the zoom level in the export Chally is different, by just by 1x less when not zoomed in, than the British Armed Force, the zoomed in value is also 10 times.
50 cal, CITV, better mobility, and a buff to the Chally 2 first stage rack replenishment speed. Meanwhile stuff like the CV9040s were screwed over in the latter aspect...
They will probably move the 2E to the export tank line after the Vickers, but only after the players that want this thing have spent money unlocking all the previous challys if they haven’t already. Completely intentional. They really do know what they’re doing and how to drive sales
hi i have problems with the termal on my tank the vehicles are gray and don't light up i don't know what's wrong and i play on console, but sometimes they flash and that's a new update since then
Nice to see a Chally 2 that can easily outrun, Leos, T80S Abrams etc.... will surely be a treat to play, always adored the Challenger family and this will be soooooo much more fun!
2E is the exact same as a 2 other than in 3 categories... Better engine, commander thermals and a .50 cal. History: 2E was created after Canada requested options for imports (Challenger 2 was designed for home use only), it was then created but as soon as it was Canada then bought Leopard 2's. Greece then requested to do import trials and several 2E's were still operational. In the Trials the 2E was on par to Abrams and Leopard 2's in manoeuvrability, out performed others in survivability but completely flopped penetration and accuracy. Due to this, the 2E was written off as a option. After the trials the crew were baffled to why the 2E did so bad in the gunnery trial and inspected everything... They found the barrel had been severely damaged and fouled with soot, they then inspected the ammo and found that they were using old challenger 1 charges designed for desert warfare and were well out of usage date. Due to this, the 2E program was scrapped, even though the 2E was superior to the standard Challenger 2, The British army never even got this upgrade.
Challenger 2E was a export variant of challenger 2 designed around the middle eastern export market the British had a good track record with. There are no records that Canada ever showed any level of interest in procuring CR2E however both Australia and South Africa did with officials from the former attending a firepower demonstration in the UK. Vickers would attend the Greek tank trials with CR2E in 1998 of which there was only a single CR2E vehicle ever built. The poor performance in Greece didn’t spell the end for 2E as BAE would continue to market 2E up to 2005 after acquiring Alvis vickers in 2003/2004.
@@HJDore Canada made a announcement of surveying foreign purchases which jump started the need British "Export program", as Britain did not have a western customer yet and it coincided with the development of Chally 2... that alone doesn't take much to put two and two together. I say that in quotations as Britain's history of selling tanks has been laughably abysmal for decades. The only country that had pre-purchased Challenger 2's was Oman... with a massive total of 18 when Challenger 2 was in development. When Challenger 2 went into service in 1998, Oman further purchased 20 more. Oman had purchased standard Chally 2's and if you search hard enough you will find the generic Canadian request to UK of searching for a new tank (Not specifically the Challenger 2 as it was still in development). Australia was the only real other potential customer ahead of release (After Challenger 2 was manufactured) as south Africa still had some remaining sanctions on it, which prevented it acquiring certain new military technology at the time, but attended the demonstration any way. Greece coincided with the release of the Chally 2 and the Chally 2E... of which if the previous 2 countries did not show interest... there would not of Been a single 2E.
@@babalonkie oman didn't "pre purchase" challenger 2, they were showcased challenger 2 during the "desert defender" tour in the early nineties in which they decided to opt for challenger 2 as a replacement for their cheiftains. Upon this decision vickers worked with the RAO to build an oman standard of challenger 2. The initial order of 18 CR2 oman gun tanks was omans first, they hadn't received any "standard challenger 2s"
@@HJDore They were "pre purchased" because Challenger 2 was revised several times and was not officially released in final form until 1998... (I did edit my comment to clarify better before you replied). You are now arguing for the sake of arguing...
USA need the m1a2 sep v3 or v4 and Russia can get the t80m variant I want to see USA get its true potential vehicle with that amazing armor and optics and shell type
Damn right, it’s almost painful how incorrectly it’s modeled and continues to. Aside from the additional dust mitigation skirting the entire hull is incorrectly modeled and although since the dev server gaijin has remodeled the engine and transmission both are still wrong. The powerpack is currently modeled as the conventionally mounted MTU 873, as used in most leopard 2’s, whereas the challenger 2E used the compact transversely mounted MTU MT883/renk “Europowerpack’
I heard the Conway a 7.0 tank can penetrate more than the Abrams now in this update. Haven't verified this myself but if its true that would be insane lol.
Its quite funny how most APDS shells were buffed but however, practically almost any tank that uses the 105 L7 APDS is most certainlly bugged atm. If you attempt to penertrate a tank with 105 APDS, the sabot will for some reason angle itself downwards towards the ground whether it penertrates a tank, affecting spall damage as well.
@@jfv2312 yes there was an l28a1 and an l28a2 round but those were tungsten alloy round made primarily for export. It was adopted by the British but it has inferior penetration to the depleted uranium l27a1.
@@jfv2312 imo they should go the full hog and add the chally 3. And add Ajax and the warrior csp while they are at it. If they can add pre production test vehicles like the 2s38 then they have opened the flood gates for anything that was actually built and trialled
@@markjackson7650 They honestly could due to the fact of how they even added the Type 10 to the game despite very limited documentation released to the public. Good thing about the Ajax IFV was that it was passed for consideration on the war thunder forums but those types of vehicles usually take a long while to even be planned in game.
Anyone else having a thermal bug after this update? Ground RB? Where the enemy is dark colored now instead of bright white while alive, and when they're dead they're bright white and flickering? The opposite of how it's supposed to be, plus the flickering. On Ps4 here. It's unplayable with thermals, can't see the enemy almost at all. Freaking Gaijin does it right once again an update happens.
I dont know.. I enjoyed Challengers partly because it was the only MBT (I have Abrams and Leopards) that felt like a tank and not a go-cart with a gun. But its not that fast sooo it might not be such a difference. I´ll see when i get it.. Fighting russia is f** pain so it takes a while to research. Also now i have a dilema... Will i start to bring some HESH for the memes with me or keep it APFSDS only sooo i dont go boom so often...mmmm.. as i said..We´ll see :D
Dude,it's not 59,60kmp,the real speed in terrain is 40 in all speed after 15 sec,on the hills with 30,45 degree the speed us 25/15 kmp,BTW you have awful turning
@@itz_chieftain976 yeah I just mean it’s faster than all the other challengers, and I know how awful the turning is. Just got my first challenger 2 a few days ago and it’s been 95% suffering with it, at least when I fight Russia, BVMs and T-80Us with troll armor and NATO teams where 70% of them leave after 1 death, make the experience very very infuriating
Because, as it stands, the 2E is only half finished. The model is largely incorrect and needs work, a gaijin forum mod has mentioned they are working on this however. Secondly although they changed the X-ray engine model from the CV12 to the leopard 2’s MTU its still incorrect as the 2E used the compact Europowerpack.
And Isreal gets the best f4 with sparrows (which it didn't have) and everything in its loadout happens to be everything the u.s f4e historically got irl
"Germany and Russia have 15 AA vehicles in the tree each while the US has 10 with a gap spanning a whole tier (there are no US SPAAGs from 4.7-7.3) so we decided to give both Russia and Germany more AA options because their lineups are CLEARLY suffering from the lack of AA in their ineups" -Gajin, apparently
maybe a little but the 🅱️esh on the challengers has a tone of tnt equivalent and i think they fixed overpressure so now it deletes any light tank it hits. i usually bring some because if you hit anywhere on the front or turret of a 2S38 with 120 mm hesh it gets deleted.
Go figure all the Challenger chassis needed was a CITV and more engine power. Wonder why Britain didn't do this sooner... *Stares at Challenger 2 2020's standard*
Looks like the challenger 3 prototype as the challenger 2 normally has that big old gunner sight I think above the gone but the challenger 3 doesn’t… could be wrong 🤷🏼
The CR2E replaced the TOGS above the barrel with the day/night sight you can see just below the Cupola. Challenger 3 (at least the prototype) does use the same turret shell as CR2, but with very different optics and the L55A1 gun, and the engine (at least for the production versions) is the CV12-9A, which generates about 1500hp. As new turrets are being manufactured, it’s possible that the production version will look different to the prototype.
@@sentinelxcix2526 the Rheinmetall challenger technology demonstrator (now owned and managed by RBSL) uses the same new, digital, modular, welded turret as will be used on the prototype run and production CR3’s.
the most shit part about this game’s community is just having everybody bitch about every aspect of every update. like what are they expecting an entire new game’s worth of content. probably not a sigle one of those people know how to program and yet they think they have the right to say the devs don’t know what they are doing. like i would like to see any one of them go and try to do the simplest bug fix because they probably can’t even do that.
They said current VT-1 and pantsir missiles is not a bug. It's very unbalance, while the missile is realistic but plane can still maneuvering unrealistic.
@@n1co2017 My highest BR is 8.3 and I am being sniped by Aluette almost every game. The more it's hard for CAS players to play their flying shit the happier I am.
@@GinBoeDusky i think you might be doing something slightly wrong if you are getting clapped by a heli consistently every battle. also the alouette is really not that bad it’s relatively low range makes it relatively easy to deal with with aa.
So they removed the missile protection? Guess they couldnt handle their op KA50s starting to NOT owning every single top tier game anymore with the Dark Knight.... #russianbias #isreal
Formidable? ... chally armor is still way too weak evem the turret armor is shitty compared to leo and abrams. And dont get me started on the brech BS along the whole chassis which is just garbage! Even some of the non top tier shells pen this thing easily, 3BM46 for example. Why would you play this when there are so many better top tier vehicles in other nations? Nothing uniqe about it, nothing. At least it should be the armor king in top tier. Make the breach and composite in the upper hull strong. Like the breach is HUGE the slab of armor on it is so big there is no way its only 200ish mm of armor. 0 chance of it.
The composite isn’t the issue, compared with other NATO tanks the composite offers decent protection (~525mm against darts from the front). The issue is that half of the front hull profile is ~84mm against KE, the drivers viewport is unprotected as well, any documentation that proves the thickness of the armour plate behind the mantlet is classified (as demonstrated by Fear_Naught). You say “only” 200mm but that’s the same base thickness as the Maus’ frontal armour.
