Just ordered two. One for my son in law to test for me and one for the auto hook setter my Dad Designed. To keep it simple, our hook setter has a lot of force holding it in the set position. what I have had problems is getting the thing to release correctly. Ive done a fair amount of testing of the hook setter. It pretty much wont actually set a hook. What it does do is take slack out and start the process of loading the rod. It does not really take much force to bend a rod over. Put a rod in holder at home and go pull on line coming out the end. With that being said. Loading the rod as much as possible is a benefit. It wont set the hook, but it can help keep tension on the hook and keep the fish from spitting it. My hats off to Chamberlain for a great design.
How’s this work on coated cable and Scotty hi performance downriggers. (300’ per minute) I don’t want to tear up coated cable this maybe the perfect stacker for cost DR cable.
