Fun fact about Charlie he was a great studio musician in Nashville. Played Bass on Bob Dylan's Nashville skyline. Great guitar player banjo mandolin Bass he could do it all.. exceptional player! If you get a chance check out Billy Strings he's incredibly talented, already won a Grammy!
Hi Jamal, I just discovered your videos and found them highly entertaining. I'd say, if you're gonna do southern rock, try the Allman Brothers "Statesboro Blues." But I have a request for you to try something bit different. I have a favorite album I'd like to see you do, Supertramp's "Crime of the Century." I'd be interested in your take on the whole album because I think every song on it is fantastic. Just a suggestion I hope you jump on...
Headphones: just as good or better if you pick up a USB audio interface, which is an external sound card used by studios, maybe a Focusrite 2i2 or similar. You can use a couple mics with those and also output to powered studio monitors (KRK is a good buy for monitors, won't break the bank. Prob 7-8" woofers would be the way to go). Then for reactions you still have a headphone out which should be hot enough to split to two pairs. Some interfaces have a second HP out, as well.
I was in the waiting room at a hospital in Knoxville several years ago, waiting for information on my brother, I heard the most comforting voice across the room and realized that it was Charlie Daniels who was also awaiting news on a loved one but was talking with an older couple who was so worried about their son, he calmed them down and they talked for a long time about all kinds of things, after a few hours he, my sister and I were the only ones left, I told him that he had a pleasant speaking voice, he looked up and said"I've been told that I have a good sangin' voice too." I had always liked him but that gave me a new respect for him, he didn't have to sit there but was kind enough to visit with that couple, I was very sad when he passed away.
My grandfather still manages his personal ranch here in Tennessee, so I was around Charlie pretty much my whole life. Luckily I got to spend some Christmas’ at their house and always got free tickets to his concerts/backstage access. He was such a pleasant person to be around and always had such a jolly attitude towards everything, and definitely the most humbled person you’d ever meet.
I look at those three sitting there smiling together, and all I can think is "their mom loves them so much". And how happy this loving relationship between her sons must make her so happy.
Indeed it is ,HalleluYAH!! I have 10 brothers and 3 sisters and we are not exactly close for what ever reason, take care every one and Greetings from West Quebec,Canada.
I've had my share of sibling squabbles but I'll tell you this - if and when we need help financially, emotionally, or just needing help to move - we quickly MOBILIZE and SUPPORT each other. We are all a better and stronger person because we are each other's safety net and we know we've got each other's back. Thanks to our parents. They both had a difficult upbringing and they both broke the chain of a terrible cycle❤ Really enjoyed your reactions. Can't wait to see more. 🕊
Just an FYI; Fire on the mountain, run boy run House of the Rising Son Chicken in the bread pan picking out dough Granny does your dog bite, no child no Those are all old bluegrass fiddle breakdowns.
@@chrisreinhardt5493 probably. The House of the Rising Sun is a traditional folk song. It was popular in the Appalachians sometimes called “The Rising Sun Blues”. No one knows it’s exact origins.
Don't worry if you don't get these lyrics right the first time, few of us did when it was first released. And yes, Rising Sun was recorded by the Animals and several others.
Yes. I grew up listening to old Appalachian folk music. My Momma, friends, and family members. Had what they called picking and grinning sessions. My Momma played the guitar, there was a fiddle, a bass fiddle, banjo, lap dulcimer, drums of some kind. Usually just like a bongo, or other lap drums. My sister and I were young. 1-4th grades, we had spoons and washboard to play. It was so much fun. Growing up listening to this, and early country music. Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash. And just the mountain music. It was awsome.
There’s nothing like seeing Charlie Daniels live in concert. Too bad the next generation who hears recordings of his music will never get to see him live in concert. May he Rest In Peace.
You're so right! I saw CBD with Little Big Town on 4th of July at Fort Bragg in 2011. So blessed I could share it with my daughter. Absolutely nothing like it when compared to a video or or recording. And Charlie's patriotism was blazingly obvious on his Twitter page right until his passing. RIP, brother. We sure miss you & there'll never be another like you.
I never got to see him, but my sister did. She plays violin (yes, she could and did play this song when she was in high school in the early 80's) and got Charlie to autograph her violin. She treasures it.
A violin is played in an orchestra by someone wearing a suit and tie. A fiddle is played on a front porch by an old hillbilly wearing overalls and a cowboy hat.
On Family Feud the question came up - If the Devil was behind his quota where would he go? I was so disappointed. No one said Georgia. The show is recorded in Atlanta.
Y’all’s reactions to the lines “Chicken in the bread pan picking’ out dough” and “Granny does your dog bite? No, chil’, no”, made me laugh. I guess being from Georgia makes it easier to pick out the words. But you got to admit this is a toe-tapper and a great story. Thanks for reacting
I was in the US Army stationed in South Korea back in the 80's when Charlie Daniels Band came to our small compound and put on the best show I have ever seen and I will never forget it and I am now 71 living my life out in the Philippines.......and I have to say you three brothers help keep me going here keep up the good work and I know this is late but i watch all your old videos also.....thank you you guys
Well, the takeaway for me from watching this is family. Brothers. My brother passed away a few years back and I miss him every, single day. Family is everything and watching families interact and have fun is a beautiful thing. Way to go fellas, enjoy each other. 👍
I'm sorry about your brother. Losing a sibling isn't something most of us ever even think of. We think about our parents and grandparents passing, but never our brothers or sisters. It's just not the "order" of things. I'm just sorry .. I know ... I "talk" alot 🤷🏻♀️
my dad was actually friends with Charlie goin back to the Vietnam days (so like 40+years). I can recall several times back stage at his concerts. he passed away last year & my dad couldn’t see him before the virus. the dude can play guitar just as good as anyone, real life maestro. RIP Big Daddy 🙌🔥🍻
I didn't attend this one but saw them in Binghamton, NY on the same tour. The first time I saw the video on RU-vid I started yelling at the TV, "OMG it's when Taz broke his arm!". 😁 Our seats were on that side and we had an amazing view of Taz. I sear he was in constant motion, and pounding those keys better than most 2 armed players. I've told people about that concert many times over the decades, it was utterly brilliant. Charlie and the entire CDB were amazing musicians and entertainers. 🎶✌
I was the Executive Chef at SPAC from 1974 to 1985. I actually feed this band before that show. Then I would go back latter to watch from side stage. That was one of many shows Charlie Daniels at SPAC
I have to thank Jamel. I am unsure if that is his real name. I discovered this channel a little before the pandemic started. It gets me threw tough days. Your passion for music and the ability discover new genres and artists. You make a difference in my life
I am so enjoying these videos with the brothers. I'm sure there is and has been the typical sibling rivalry, but it is heartwarming to see these three men enjoying being together. 💖
He said Fire on the mountains, run boys run Devil's in the house of the rising sun Chicken in the bread pan pickin out dough Granny does your dog bite,no child no
So fun seeing you with your brothers! I will giggle all day thinking of your brother Leron (did I spell that right?) with a random cob of corn in his hand and declaring he has no idea how it got there!! 😊
Black culture and Southern rural/agrarian culture share the same roots, and hip-hop and country are both derived from the blues. We really do all have more in common than we think. I love watching people discover how much they can love about genres they didn't grow up with.
I SO loved this video with your brothers reactions.....MORE with them PLEASE, and to be clear I am not saying every video, but some more with them PLEASE.
It's nice to see some brothers into this music style of Charlie Daniels. They just love music and appreciate the commitment to the art form. Good post guy's. Thax.
I saw Charlie Daniels in concert about 1975. I love this video for the nostalgia, taking me back there, the crowd was as good as the show. Loved those days. Btw, love the obvious brotherhood y'all share. Family is everything!
I saw him in Las Vegas about ten years ago...There was/is no doubt in my mind it was the best concert I had ever been to. At that time I think he was in his seventies but performed like he was in his thirties. I will never forget it.👍
Years ago I was working at a job and we had 2 kids come up from Kentucky. They were in town for a racket ball tournament. The boss asks us to take them around town showing them good time, have fun in between the tournament matches. We took them ice skating. This song came on while we were skating. All of a sudden I look over at the guys and both of them are just frozen and they're staring up at the speakers. I asked him what was wrong. He said he didn't know that the song end with "I'll tell you once you son of a bitch. I'm the best there's ever been." He said in church country they never would have played that version on the radio. We laughed so hard because we didn't think anything was wrong with it. Funny story he was a good guy though.
Who else here will admit to having ROCKED THE AIR FIDDLE to this song??? 🙋🏼♀️ Also grabbed my sisters and went square dancing around the room to this before! I saw the Charlie Daniels Band at Frontier City in Oklahoma City years ago. He came to the end of the concert and asked if there was another song we wanted to hear and, of course, we had to hear The devil Went Down to Georgia. As I recall, he got into that song and had a fiddle battle with the other fiddle player in his band!
This was EVERYTHING! We need to get some Jamel and brothers bobble heads for your merch shop!Extra cool if the shoulders could go up and down as well! You three are a hoot!🎙🎻🤣
Even in the '70s if three brothers 6-5, 6-8, and 6-9 show up to a Charlie Daniels concert, ain't nobody gonna say a thing. In fact, you'd probably end up in the front!
You got to love that RU-vid Gestapo, not. Oh well, at least I was able to watch the video through the reflection in your glasses. Another great job brother, as always, been watching since the beginning. Good to see the boys back in town again.☮️
I had the distinct pleasure I've seen mr. Charlie Daniels in concert two times before he passed away I'm telling you what he did not disappoint at all he was awesome
Best fiddle player of all time. This is an early recording of the song. I heard him play in his later years and they sit on the beat a little more and play with the song a bit more because they were more comfortable playing it. They kinda rush it in this early version.
@Jamel, I just wanted ta say thank y'all (all of ya I consider y'all 3 my brother's) I love y'all's reactions & y'all really make me smile & brighten my day 👊👊👊😊
Oh y’all he is an amazing performer. There will never be a Charlie Daniels! That man can break a string and fix it before he has to play the next bar. This song is in the form of story telling. There was a time when that was HUGE. This was way before what we know of as rap now days. There was a lot of trucker songs. There was some seriously great music during that time period.
Charlie played the Ryman, on Christmas, because there is power in that NAME. They welcomed him in to the FAMILY. RIP CHARLIE, God speed and God Bless old friend.
Just absolute frank appreciation for artistry. This is what I like. Music, good music, transcends ALL barriers and shows that we really are only one TRUE race, the human one.
There are a few songs I wouldn't recommend without headphones, "Big Iron" "Bohemian Rhapsody" & "Hotel California" These three songs you have to have headphones for, but I don't see them as necessary for all of the rest.
It’s tight right! This song just gets me every time! Gotta say, speaking as a fellow handsome man, you guys look great! My wife agrees…beautiful family. I love your work guys, wishing you all the success.
Very nice to meet your brothers. How do gentlemen? That is one awesome rocking song. It is on my list of music I play when getting stuff done. It so energizes me. There are a lot of Male country artists I listen to when I'm doing my chores. And I never wear headphones when I'm working or walking. David Allen Coe can let me water the yard for an hour and it's like the time just flew. The neighbors think I've lost my mind although my Jamaican church lady always smiles at me. I dont know if you've played David Allen Coe yet. I'm going to check. If you havent I think his song "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" is his best known. I digress. Any way Charlie Daniel's was amazing. Makes me feel like dancing as the Bee Gees would say.
Fun seeing you all , Good looks run in the family ☺ Growing up as a teen my friends were heavy metal but when this song came on the radio .. It got cranked just as loud lol 🎶💞🎻🎹🐔😈
Brother Jamel ... Love, love, love your reactions. Please man, please, I beg you ... I know you already enjoy Bob Seger so i beg you (too much begging?) to listen to and react to Bob Seger - Travelin Man/Beautiful Loser off of the Live Bullet album. I swear you'll love it and be glad to have heard it! I already two of your sweatshirts and I promise I'll buy three more if you react to that song! I know you can't be bribed, so i'll be buying them anyway ... but heck, it's worth noting. Have a great day my friend!
