My dance teacher played a Civil Wars song in class one time and now I'm obsessed with them, they are so good and I'm sad they brokeup because I'd love to hear more from them.

There is no doubt in my mind that someone's romantic feelings complicated their relationship, whether it was one or both of them. Either that or their spouses were no longer comfortable with their relationship. There is no way you can spend that much time with someone, pouring your heart out into songs, sharing your intimate feelings, staring into each other's eyes, and in the end, still come out saying you're like siblings. I saw this coming. I'm deeply saddened but I still love this song.

So glad they're back. Not my usual sort of music at all, but I just fell in love with their debut album. Pleased to see it probably won't be their last. Also impressed with how well they work with more instruments here - they made the transition from just a few components to a full band really well.

This is the song that inspired me to start using songs as insperstion for OCs. When I'm writing a character now I try to find music that fits my vision of them and then I use it has a soundtrack for my writing.

I don't understand why people care so much if a person or people were brought here from a TV show or movie . Those shows and movies are getting bands known by people who normally don't listen to that type of music or have never heard of the band . They're getting exposure and new fans .

Those lines have completely differnt impilcations and the songs mean two totally different things. Katy Perry's singing another one of her sickly sweet songs about how she doesn't have to call her boyfriend the 'one that got away'. The Civil Wars are singing a song about dreading the fact tha you ever even knew this person and wishing you could go back and tell yourself to steer clear of them so they WOULD be the one that got away. Nice try being clever, but it didn't quite work.

A few months ago they cancelled their tour and said that they were taking time off because of creative differences. Everyone assumed this meant they were breaking up for good, but I'm pretty sure that Joy said in the same statement to expect new music in 2013. I'm tentatively assuming the release of this album means they are back together until further notice, but we can't be sure, I guess.

Just because The Civil Wars did a collaboration with T. swift which was for Hunger Games, doesn't mean that every friggin song they come out with is associated with, or was intended for the Hunger Games. The same thing happened with Iron & Wine's Flightless Bird, American Mouth. That lovely song had the misfortune of being in Twilight, and now people decide to associate Sam's art with sparkly vamps, its sickening. C'mon people, lets enjoy great music without tainting it.

I Love and follow TCW closely. I've attempted to tamp down bren57mar's cynicism before. I read up on cynicism. For any who care, cynicism is DIRECTLY tied to unhappiness. You either express yourself cynically to the point you are unhappy, or your unhappiness can only be coped with by expressing through complaint. While some may view their expressions as superior revelations, they're trapped like guinea pigs on the wheel of cynicism. "The only flaw in our cynicism, is expressing it."

Good is really subjective in terms of music and that's what's so great about it, I for one don't really care that the majority of our generation listens to what I consider absolute crap. Just listen to what you want and let others do the same, then when you finally meet someone who actually like bands like this it makes it even more awesome!

I believe "his wife" is behind their bust-up ... a woman knows when her man has chemistry with any other woman ... the last few live performances were being leaked on youtube and their eye language during each performance was revealing. His wife put the breaks on it, real quick, I have no doubt.

Been waiting for this. Patiently, of course. I hope this is all just a brilliant marketing ploy to create interest and anticipation of a new tour. I think sometimes God is revealed through art. Listening to what they create TOGETHER brings me closer to that. I have hope for more in the future.

they did break up, i had friends at there last show in the uk before they cut the rest of the tour off, I imagine there was a lot of tension with the baby and joys husband being the manager. But it was just very temporary and they started talking again :)
