Good interview , I agree with all His points except opening preparation . The younger generation coaches and players are spending a lot of time and money on opening prep.

Love you Biswa, you are a great interviewer, please continue doing this for Chessbase India!! 🤫🖖👍 1. Understand now why Magnus is no longer interested in the WC now, when Peter goes "yeah... not so many wins any more..." alluding to the fact that young players fight so much, much more - in dogmatically 'objective-truth-equal' endgames/middlegames! Nice, never thought of it that way woww.. 2. The entire 'dogmatic' discussion and the insights on sports+science vs art.... just pure gold! 3. Also liked the "when the going gets tough, the tough gets going moments". Lovely... being Biswa, and Sagar, he could have asked for some chess examples (like he did with Game 13 Topa with Anand), that would make it _even clearer_ for us mere mortals. Some sample convos on how fast lines come (of course I know... but nice at highest level also) - hope more coming with annotated diagrams that CBI is famous for!! I would love, love to see a lot of examples of Magnus WC matches/Vishy matches. Man this guy needs to write a book. Somebody please tell him that - also *why did you leave Vishy, Peter* ? *Was it bcos it affected your personal life like Rustam implied for him* ? I think I saw you say somewhere else that _With Vishy there was a lot more analysis files etc._ ... I really hope it was not money. Just sad that, Kasparov and you were there - and kinda helped Magnus defeat the indefatigable Vishy - just as an Indian chess fan that's all. Edit: @hellostranger2012 It sounded like Biswa - and I checked - it was written Biswa at the time in the description. Description has been changed by the team. Thx for letting me know.

Basically 2:40-4:00 is the reason why I find classical WC matches aimless at this point in history. Prep, computers, theory and prep again. You could say that okay, hard work then brings results, but seriously, it's so boring to watch and dull. Even our last champion clearly agrees, forfeiting his title several months ago. Besides, huge fan of shorter time formats, the online chess and new possibilities brought with it. Curious to see further changes and, maybe, rising popularity of Chess960 on the highest level.

Just imagine how vishy and magnus are strong at chess and imagine how strong player their coach must be
@connected_passed_pawns
@connected_passed_pawns 11 месяцев назад
Well, he is weaker than both of 'em. Being coach doesn’t necessarily mean being objectively stronger. Also, in the context of chess, coach basically means a second who helps mostly with opening preparation. They work hard to come up with original opening ideas/novelties for the player to employ.

I'm confsed because sometimes they call him a coach and sometimes they call him a second but second to me infers some degree of subservience but coach infers more authority and say over what goes on.
@denostar
@denostar 4 месяца назад
he actually explained what he does for Magnus. He's a coach for some players, but for Magnus he's a second. I think coach is a general term, you can be a coach and work "with" multiple players. But if you're a second you "work for" a single player
