I had this thought after watching it - the salesman said the table would make his life better; Jesus didn't really want kids; so in kind of twisted monkey's paw way, the table did what it thought Jesus wanted.
The thing is... it could happen to anyone. Accidents happen all the times. Scary. I'm never buying anything glass anymore. It looks fancy but also dangerous.
Immediately went and watched 'The Coffee Table' after seeing this review. I haven't been so disturbed since seeing 'Hereditary'. As a parent of four grown kids and now with two tiny grand-babies, this movie taps into the worst of all fears. And then the completely fucked up black-comedy of the guy hiding what happened from his family. Just ... Jeebus. And chuckling during it all makes it even WORSE!
@@TheHauntedBeard what they talked in the room, the brother was on his way to tell her but not let her see the child, that would have been less traumatic
Great job reviewing this movie without giving anything away, even unintentionally. I watched this movie last night, and I don’t know if I can say I “enjoyed” it, haha, but I did! It’s an extremely well-made movie.
I suggest you the Eyes of my mother, I don't know why it came to my mind while watching this video, but it's disturbing and also pretty good, i personally liked it, and really few people talk about it
Thanks for the recommendation. It was very disturbing but I was disappointed it didn't have more of a plot. The entire movie is about that one thing that happens. But I only paid three bucks to watch it on Amazon so all's good.
Just saw it today. Oh….boy. This was by far one of the bleakest, most uncomfortable movies I’ve ever seen. I absolutely loved it. The acting, writing, and cinematography were all excellent. 9/10
To this day, I think that a Serbian film is the most messed up film I’ve ever seen. It’s sick that someone could even that that shit up, only someone messed up could think that stuff up!!
@@spicnspan981 I'm glad you made the comparison and brought up Serbian Film, if Coffee Table isn't as bad as that monstrosity then I think I should be able to stomach this....lol
In my day to day life I would tend to say “life is always worth living” , but immediately after the incident I thought, “well , you have to end it , it’s over, the only somewhat reasonable response to this situation is s*/c/de.”
@@RiverCardinal99 that’s a hard one to answer. It’s definitely less graphic in terms of blood and gore but I think more distressing because it’s a situation that could actually happen.
This may have been one of the worst movies I ever watched. Luckily I made the right decision to fast forward through most of this boring piece of garbage.
@@TheHauntedBeard I found it on a knock off website. It wasn't what I expected, but after the "event" nothing real major happen. But then again I seek out extreme horror movies like Serbian film, cannibal holocaust, martyrs, etc. Its not on that level
call me desensitized, but I didn’t find it all that that disturbing. The way “the incident” unfolded was awkwardly comical. Then there’s the subplot involving the teen neighbor which was unnecessary and rather insipid. That being said, all the actors gave great performances and the movie was an interesting watch.
I find the plot with the 13 year old neighbor very interesting. She is clearly seeking attention with her theatrics and the movie balances something as a teenager seeking attention with the horrible accident that happened.
I loved this movie but yeah Dame that's disturbing on whole other level from most Horror movies 😳😰😲😦😮🫨😵💫🫣 I know a young couple who have a Baby and Had a Glass table I say had because as soon as I watched the movie I had to tell them to get rid of the table because of this movie they watched the movie and got rid of there table the next day Thank God 🙄
Well, based on this review, I’m definitely intrigued and will have to look for it. Mainly because so much horror anymore leaves me cold - if it is different enough to keep my interest, then that’s saying something. and to have a reaction like yours? That would be excellent
As a new father myself; these are things I almost have visions of. But because of these visions it makes me extra careful to avoid it. So this really was like watching a nightmare come to life since the movie takes its time to really make you feel like you're part of it. Great movie, didn't expect it to be like that. And thanks for the review! Nice concise and like the trailer, keeping it vague but intriguing.
just watched this last night...incredibly disturbed but i believe my experience was a bit different maybe. I went in with a complete comedic mentality and man...the whole time I just was like "fuck you director" lol the movie did its jobs for sure, would recommend to those looking for something different
I’m confused, as this was horrific but it’s not the worst I’ve seen. I’ve seen more horric stories than this😭! As far as a comedy, not in the slightest was this was a comedy! Unless I’ve lost something in translation but not funny or funny dark. This movie is just really sad and dark in despair.
I share your sentiment : the story was meandering along and it felt (at times) drawn out. And this being a 'dark' comedy? All the references to the baby's name and him being alive were more of an annoyance than actual smart dark comedy. So yeah, the movie hinges around one single and terrible accident and it was a dreadful thing to get through. Not because of the merits of the acting or the story but... because it was sluggish and hollow.
I'm a just a messed up person? There was nothing really messed up about this film. It starts off with the dude doing something reckless and clumsy. He's spends the rest of the film trying to put off telling his wife. Then a dog finds something. And the couple goes looking at stars... the dog finding something was the hilarious part along with his brother asking where said thing was. 😂 but was is messed up? No. Pretty straightforward psychological horror. I was honestly hoping they were going to pin it all on Ruth. 😂 now that would have been a riot. My wife was saying that while watching. Then we were like "that's it?" I guess we're psychopaths... whatevs.
This movie was really interesting as a horror movie in that what you would typically think of as horror happens in the first 15 minutes and then the real dread and anxiety is more of a social horror. Also interesting as a comedy in that yes I saw a lot of irony in regards to the situation verse the oblivious conversations. But let me tell you. Not once did I ever laugh
One of the most uncomfortable watches I've ever had. Recommending this movie to anyone is like getting someone to watch the ring, or telling them about the old Indian burial ground behind the pet cemetery. It just has to be done .
I JUST watched it. I laughed when you mentioned that you were saying, at the end, over and over "oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!" Because I was saying, out loud, "Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!".....this has to be one of, if not, the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. The culmination of everything into one completely horrific end scene....I definitely wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone who has anxiety issues.....at all.
