Pleasantly surprised to see commentators curse make a return, I think we need more of this type of content in this age of melee. Speaking as a spectator, I feel like the storylines have gotten weaker in the last couple of years compared to the 5 gods/post 5 gods era. However, the gameplay itself has been more exciting to watch than ever. As the saying goes, its never melee's fault, its our fault.
I personally would love to see content from the Blur. And I think if Blur is serious about making content this would be a great opportunity for him to be proven right and show these top players how to brand yourself as a smasher in the world of content creation. I know He said he wants to find a monetizable audience, but by adding to the library of smash content out there on the internet he would be increasing the number of eyes on smash and therefore increase the overall money in the scene, he doesn't need to be directly funded by smashers. And Blur is already a well known figure in the world of smash so it shouldn't be difficult to brand himself as a smash content creator to get things started.
hey the show is back :-) This show is basically the only way I keep in touch with what's going on in melee ha! Also thank you so much for the shout out! :-D 01:54:00
Zain is a positive guy with an Armada level mindset on improvement, it makes sense he's beating a Mango that's drinking and still bummed out the goat retired.
It's crazy to think that Zain's lowest placement since GOML 2019 (4 years ago), has been fifth, something that resembles Armada's dominance. Ofc I'm talking about majors and tourneys where he's not sandbagging.
An upfront gambling sponsorship would make money but in why would a gambling website give a cut of profits to TOs if their logo isn’t on stream? Also the money would def be coming from within the community because big gamblers wouldn't get into a niche esport where they do not know the matchups and edges on the bets
All right. Easy content idea would be look at Gotham chess. Just steal that style of commentating and analyzing matches that have already occurred and then upload that whenever there's a tournament. Just got to make great thumbnails and dive into the content immediately. Be engaging and that would reach a good audience. And if you don't want to do it for melee you could do it for another game. I think there's a gap there that needs to be filled. Commentators could do more to promote their own brand outside of tournaments. I mean look at Ludwig! Huge opportunity imo. Nice video, enjoyed it!
You guys listed leffen and jmook as the players Zain has trouble with? Zain has the worst record vs aMSa over the past 12 months. 4-1 aMSa favored, plus it was 3-0 at bobc5. 😂
I haven’t watched the video yet, just here to say that aMSa is up 4-1 vs Zain over the past year. aMSa won at double down, apex, summit, Bobc, and then lost at fete, but basically aMSa destroys Zain. 😂
I don’t think Blur’s take on Zain being a tier above is controversial. The thing that’s held him back is he had some mentality issues if he went down in games/bracket. He seems to have sorted that out now and could just roll everyone the rest of the year
He's flat out wrong about it though. He lost to Leffen's secondary a few tournaments ago. Somebody that is 2 to 3 tiers above would not lose to Leffen's secondary Sheik. Fact is that while Zain is better than everyone else, there isn't a big enough skill gap that can not be bridged by a Sheik counterpick, which simply means he isn't insanely better than everyone. We just have to look at the stats to prove this. Zain is 2-4 vs Jmook and 1-2 vs Leffen. He's 1-1 vs Amsa as well. Why has he looked dominant recently? He hasn't faced those players often recently. Jmook and Amsa have been in a slump and Leffen hasn't been entering tournaments. We need to just look at the reality instead of psychoanalyzing Zain's mentality. The evidence is simple and the conclusion is simple too: Zain is better than everybody but can still lose to his bad matchups. He is not unbeatable and not insanely above everyone that he simply can't lose to anybody.
I don't think a lot of the main old school commentators are as good as Walt. HMW is the GOAT of eSports commentary but if you're not gonna put international commentators on your tier list then there's a huge gap between him and and the rest of the old guard simply because a lot of y'all have fallen off. (Bad player with a 2004 smashboards account speaking, probably have watched every recorded major and attended 0 of them so I've seen a lot of y'all commentary.) I agree that money should be invested in commentary but I don't agree that all the old school top commentators are better than everyone else. If you want to do paid commentary then you should at least be more entertaining and informative than Leffen being salty on the stand mic.
