I once watched a single Nord huscarl stand out in the middle of a field with a sarranid mamluke charging at him with a lance. I told my army to group up but he was still out in the field. Just as the huscarl was about to be killed by the mamluke he threw an axe right into the mamlukes face and killed him. Then casually walked back into formation

Nords: a faction so loved that warband got an entire historical dlc based around them.

Kergits be like "oh no the nords are coming! lets maintain a steady pace at a slight angle and pick them off with our horse archers."

A drawback for the Nord veteran archers is some of them spawn without a helmet, making them vulnerable to headshots, so they die in a single shot. I think, it’s because of a bug, just like how some vaegir guard spawn without shields.

Having no cavalry is no disadvantage for nords and rhodoks. They don't need help from some furry bois.

You're using nord troops wrong, you should order them to stand closer so they can form a shieldwall, wich is unbeatable

Resonant forgot to say the biggest downside of Nords. Everytime you go for field battles, expect it do be dragged down to over double the amount of time it would take for cavalry factions. I get really really bored playing Rhodoks and Nords because of this....

Always gotta have some Huscarls regardless what your doing. I personally use Huscarls as a buffer line to Rhodok Sharpshooters with either Mamlukes or Khergit Lancers harassing the enemy

I once held out a 1500 army siege with 200 nords. 100 housecarls and 100 nord veteran archers, and myself swingin like a madman with a 2 handed sword at the breach. They have earned a spot with me. My problem is I usually start off the game with nords, and mix in swadian/vaegir cavalry and dominate 2/3rds the map before I start my kingdom, and it gets hard to stop such a large force once they declare war on you.

Nords also have the highest skill stats in power strike out of all the factions. That 7 in power strike for the Huscarls is positively ridiculous.

See I played so much of this back when I was in hs and years later I'm having so much fun with it again and finding this more in depth explanation of different units made my day

The Nords are my favorite I have had times where I'll be 60 strong against over a hundred and only lose maybe 10 give or take.

The huscarl's round shield is the 2nd best shield for infantry, the best infantry shield would be the heavy board shield (same for archers). Huscarl's round shield would be the best for cav.

I remember I used to get them to group up as close to each other as possible that way cavalry gets stuck and then curb stomped like we’re just some kind of gang

I've a fun story about ragnar & the kingdom of the nords if anyone wants to read. So I basically captured all of the nords kingdom. They started it randomly declaring for war so I said to myself, "ok bring it bitch" I was ready for them I felt, after capturing first city from vaegris (wercheg) and I capture 2 castles from the nords at first, I guess it pissed off ragnar enough to come at me with a 450+ army. He was overconfident & me & my vassals took him out even though he had 120+ more, even worse for him was that our losses weren't that bad after the battle but best of all, I captured him... 🙂 this is where the fun began lol. So I hold him hostage & they offer me 30k for his release, tempting but I declined. I was holding out for bigger $. Then they offered a lower amount next time. Immediate no & also I wanted to keep him for awhile because I knew when I released him, he'd cause me trouble with a big army but if they offered me a good price I'd agree. However, for poor ragnar it eventually became several months.. Then a year & a half... 😂. At several points his relation with me increased while he was prisoner I've no idea why. Basically he was like a cuck while he watched me fk his kingdom lel.When I saw it increased I was like O.o & after a good half hour laughing I came to the conclusion it was Stockholm syndrome. I guess he started to go a little nuts in his dungeon which was hilarious. So when I took curaw, it was definitely the most difficult city I had taken. Barely managed to take it, we took a beating but at least a good proportion was just wounded rather than killed & I think that was probably the pivotal moment in the campaign. Next was rivacheg which fell surprisingly fast. I tried to take it with 120 men & just couldn't. Was frustrating. But this time my vassals and myself were much better prepared & it was easy. At this point the nords are begging for peace, which was amusing. I still find it hysterical my relationship increased 3 times with ragnar. He was crazed in my dungeon, like a gollum or a reek. My new pet 🙃 but it gets better. After taking sargoth easily enough I wanted to take their last castle because I was curious to see what happens when a faction completely disappears from map with no territory. I saw their last few jarls flee in terror from 4 of my vassals returning to home, was glorious. So when the notification came up saying the nords had been wiped out, I went back to wercheg out of curiosity to see if reek was still there, & he was!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I thought he'd disappear or something but I'm going to try recruit him, it'll be soooooo funny. (I swear I'm not making this up, I can provide screenshots as proof) 😁😁

Nords are siegemasters, no getting around that. But they are going to struggle against Cavarly, alot. However unlike most armies you only need a little bit of help from the other factions. Vaegirs to upgrade your archers. Introduce some Rhodock spearmen and you can know take down horse riders with ease. Add some sharpshooters and you have Huscarls/Sharpshooters to take castles, and Sergeants/Marksmen to defend castles. Use a combination of all four dominate the field and you're done. No need to mess with any of the other factions. Overall great faction, with a bit of backup.

I use the nords mainly for defending castle and towns they are pretty good at it

A castle with huscarls and Rhodoks sharpshooters would be a nightmare to take

I'd like to see the best combination from all factions - e.g. Nord infantry, Rhodok Crossbows, Swadian Calvalry, etc. Does it depend on who you are fighting? Maybe spears are best against cavalry based factions? Maybe sieges require completely different armies?

I am doing my first play through right now and I have course chose the Nords

man i love archers in this game, just pile up archers and watch the enemies fall while they slowly pace towards me hah

For the Nord Elite Archers, I dont tend to use them in charging enemies in melee, unless im desperate. BUT! If my Elite Archers gets attacked by a few infantery or cav that got past MY infantery line, then usually i leave the archers to deal with them as they tend to be capable in doing so without dying.

The best thing about the nords are the sea raiders which can give you endgame gear right away

Those throw weapons will stop s cavalry charge on it's tracks.

Ive fought maultiple battles agaings other lords and won all battles with sometimes no deaths on my team

The Nords definitely have the best infantry the combination of shields and one handed axes make short work of any enemy infantry with fast attack speed with a weapon that deals heavy damage against shields I always incorporate their infantry whenever I have the opportunity they prove to be the most difficult enemy for me especially in siege battles

By far my favourite faction.

This game has been out for a long ass time but I just discovered and started playing it three days ago....I fucking love it.

I replayed the game many times, I still go for nord units. NORDS RULE!

I found the fastest way to train my Nords is to go ransack a Village or two or three or four, anyways great way to level up them fast and to get a good amount of cash

Khergit lancers are beast af i have half horse archers and half lancers and smash all day, when i fight the nords or heavy infantry i run around then with my horse archers and then charge in with my lancers

I always try to wipe the Nords out first followed by the Rhodoks because Nord Huscarls and Rhodok Sharpshooters are my bane. Swadia has usually been gangbanged by that point so their Knights are gone as well.

I'm new to warband but I've done a few play throughs most failed but I currently have one that is going quite well I'm a lord of swadia currently

I thought Huscarls were 120 denars a week? Or have a missed a massive part of the game? Does it cost denars to rank up your soldiers?

11:01 Those were some unnecessary losses. Could've lost only one at the least if you had just formed a shield wall. Shields would've sucked up arrows. Although I usually like to keep nord infantry back while me and my named followers who I always give horses and keep about 5 of them to work as an effective cavalry of sorts and we tend to go forward and target archers and stragglers, then a charge in the back of the main force while having the infantry charge at the same time usually brings me out with only a unconscious nord or two.

On my current character I literally use any troop I find and it's actually working it's insane.

I use the Huscarls as shock troops more than regular infantry. Put them at the front, get hit by cav while the regular infantry cicles around at the side, all while my archer rain arrows from higher ground. 99% win rate.

I slaughter nords in the open field but when it comes to sieges I fear them almost as much as I fear rhodok crossbows

Warband is pretty simple. Field combat? Svadian knights? Siege? Huscarls.

the nords can get there hands on cav but it has to be done though mercenaries and mods. though when the nords do get cav it is usually scouts.
