That is a reason I dislike a slider control for setting the volume. Another reason is that after using it for a while I'm concerned that it will begin to develop a crackling sound as I adjust the volume. That's why I prefer electronic controls for volume, my player (Sony NW-A55) has a hold function that prevents me from accidentally jacking up the volume.
It's like a wish from a genie: You wish for the best sounding portable music player, and you get it, but it's inconvenient as fuck cuz you didn't specify
So true Fedacheese0. :) I'd totally be down to going up in an elevator designed like this FLAC player. Also looks like some classic radio from say, 1941. Lol
@@DankPods Simple to explain wy the large FLAC player sound way better. While your other Phones and iPods can play music nicely on your high resistance headphones they greatly lack in the amplifier department. The higher you need to set the volume / the higher the distortion gets. Having a large amplifier helps with lower distortion and can take the generated energy from your large, high resistance speakers swinging back in your headphones way better. If you plug in the iPod into a dedicated external amplifier it will also sound much better, although not nearly as good since you still have an additional amplifier introducing noise and interference. Also sorry for the way i tried to explain that. Its a bit hard when you dont natively speak englisch * If you like the sound of this thing id sugest getting a Sony High Res Player like the NWA 45 series They soud realy good
I was munching on some nuts, cashews to be specific. When you went "OooOoh" and flipped the player by it's 1/4" jack I laughed and spit out my nuts on my keyboard. Thanks for that.
@@aidanfarley9566 ya know, I've never had those fail, ever. Now Micro USB tho... Who the hell managed to design that and call it an evolution, I wanna slap him with a white glove
@@Kalvinjj ok yeah micro usb is most likely worse on the cable end. Like at least the connector is solid and doesn't wear out whereas the cable has a lifespan of at most 6 months. The issue with mini usb is that the connector and the cable wear out so your just screwed regardless. Also can we discuss the atrocity that is micro usb 3.0 with the extra bit hanging off the side?
It has a lot of bandpass capacitors in it. That’s probably also what’s making the banging noise you were talking about. The caps charging and discharging.

@@unorganized_account Definitely a grounding issue. When this happens, I'm generally holding onto something metal plugged into the same power strip (which has actually happened multiple times oddly enough despite the specificity of the situation)
That type of USB port is usually pretty durable, definitely better than a micro port, those flake out in no time. Since it's easy to get into you could have someone that's good at soldering reseat the port, it may just have a weak connection to the board since you mentioned it was always bad even new (otherwise I would argue corrosion maybe).
i've never had an ipod in my entire life, i have never wanted an ipod in my entire life, i have never seen one in person, and yet, somehow, one day, i saw a video of his in my recommended, "huh" i thought, i clicked it, and boy do i not regret it, this guy is one of the best youtubers ever, just due to his personality, i can relate to him, i think like he thinks, i talk how he talks, i feel like i've know him for years, but it has been less than 3 months, never stop dankpods, unless you need a break, then, do stop.
*FYI* *You can adjust the volume within OSX in significantly smaller increments using “option+shift” and the volume buttons. This will also work with the brightness controls.*
DankPods: "I'm the only guy that only got iPods because people threw them out." Me: I'm the guy that got an iPod when I told my mum "I wanted to get an iPod no matter what model it is" and she gave me her 4th gen shuffle saying she can't get it setup
@@FirstnameLastName-mr8lk Wow that's epic. Wish I had a 2nd gen touch. I plugged my shuffle into my PC and it's a 2GB model in the purple colour. Still has the previous owner's songs on it. I even got the bloody apple sticker too. It's almost as if my mum never touched the thing once out of the box.
5:42 "What were they thinking?" after talking about shitty action platformer controls? Was that an AVGN Reference? I really hope that was an AVGN Reference or maybe I just watched too much AVGN lately.
I love it, it has the look of being from an alternate future were things are not designed to be sleek, minimalist, efficient or ergonomic. I'd like to see more devices made larger or heavier than they need to be and make them look cool and interesting. Woo audio makes an amazing DAP that is like a gold brick that also has a built in tube amp, its beautiful.
I’m one of those “I don’t care about iPods but I love this channel” types, and I think it’s just ‘cause you have a really fun personality and charisma to watch. If some stuffy tech reviewer made a video about this thing I wouldn’t give it the time of day.
👍same here. One of these videos was in my recommendations so I clicked and I am not disappointed lol. Funny commentary is great no matter the subject and also this guy makes it interesting. I don't have an iPod lol.
Hi from Russia, I look relatively recently, but I can already see the potential of the channel, funny jokes that even those who are slightly familiar with the language will understand, the best channel and the best videos
Let's see... early 80s brings the first Walkman and, coincidentally, the death of the 8-Track. By the mid-80s, the CD has emerged and, by the late 80s, the CD "Discman" is somewhat common. (Personally, I've always wanted to see the AU 1982 where some Korean factory pushed out an 8-Man.)
This player is like the soup chef that will kick you out or leave if you don't do things his way, but when the stars align, it's the best thing you've ever tasted
Wow, thank you for reviewing this player. Almost 10 years ago I went on a audiophile website, saw this player being sold for astronomical amounts of money and dreamed of how I'm gonna grow up, make big money and buy this one. Now I know what it's like
This video actually helped me learn about the stuff with the audio resistance that I didn’t know at all. It actually terrifies me how you can go deaf from the small mistake of leaving the volume too high on a device like this.
4:30 It is _technically possible_ to get 64 gig and larger Micro-SD's working; the limiting factor is Format. Modern MicroSD's at 32GB or below are formatted in "FAT32" while larger storage devices are formatted in "ExFAT" - by installing certain programs, you can reformat any ExFAT storage device into FAT32, though keep in mind that larger FAT32 storage will slow data reading from the SD card exponentially as sizes go up. Source: I own a New 3DS XL with a FAT32 128GB SD Card fitted.
hey moit, love the vids, just giving you a hint on Mac: use shift+option and volume up and down to get a little finer control, it works with brightness too (if you didnt know, i bet you did though haha)
10:40 If you hold Option+Shift while adjusting the volume, it allows you to control the volume on tiny increments. This is also true for monitor and keyboard brightness.
nitpick: the measurement on headphones in ohms isn't resistance, it's impedance which is similar but different in that it doesn't just tell u the load of the headphones but also the headphones' effect on changing the timing/reflecting of waves sent through it. it doesn't really matter for the average person to know this but if u want to do more reading into why it matters to have an amp then it's good to know the terminology. Also i fully expect someone who knows electrical engineering to come along and give a more in depth explanation nitpicking my nitpick
Yeah, another interesting thing about impedance is that dynamic drivers like those in the majority of headphones have impedance/frequency curves that vary massively, especially around their resonant frequency. Very important to understand because high output impedance sources like output transformer less tube amps will change the frequency response due to the reactive load
Who needs frames per second, this baby has seconds per frame. A wonderful VU meter with a glorious 3 spf refresh rate, you'll see just how good the bass was 2 songs ago now.
This is the most beautiful device I have ever seen. I wish everything was designed with this much artistry. Pity about the functionality and usability.
@@richk6827 just thinking I could probably do that 🤔 but it would be complety done by hand so no cnc and stuff, I guess that would be to expensive to sell then
"Once In A Lifetime" started playing in my head after you clapped at the beginning of the video cause of those first couple of beats and it freaked me out.
