The Toronto Maple Leafs were once again eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the first round by the Boston Bruins and former Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving has a lot on his plate. With the Leafs poised to blow up their 'Core Four' players; Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares, now is the perfect time for the Flames to strike and make a blockbuster trade with the Leafs. Flames fans thinking the Leafs are taking the boat anchor contracts off their hands is lol. Nooooooobody wants Huberdeau or Markstrom. Neither plays close to the level of their salary. Markstrom is not an A1 goalie anymore. He had a .905 save% and 2,78 GAA last year. He's just not consistent enough to be trusted as an A1 anymore. Nylander is not for sale, they just signed the guy a few months ago lol.

I'd be pretty upset with Conroy if he did this. That would be a Feaster level misrepresentation of where the team is at. I think Leafs fans are scapegoating him unjustly to a point and he's definitely a good player (especially if they retain) it's just that the flames are in basically in year 2 of a rebuild/tool. Marner has one year left, he wants to win. He's just going to walk.

Three way PLD, Marner and Huberdeau. Who says no? Leafs get an older player who is under contract forever and doesn’t need a raise for the rest of his career. He can play with the best goal scorer in the league and get his point totals back up. And because they are giving up the best player, they can get assets back in the trade. Kings get a proven regular season performer with top-end skill in Marner. He’s all but guaranteed to lead them in scoring, and if they don’t like what they see, he doesn’t have anywhere near the suffocating term that PLD has. Then the Flames get to save 2 million dollars a year, get a bigger, younger guy, and will certainly be able to ask for assets back in the trade. Plus he can’t possibly be worse than he was this season, so you’re buying low. And if all that doesn’t do it for you, he can be an excellent tank-commander and not get in the way of trying to get good draft picks by raising the floor too high.

Like I've said with nylander he's still on his old deal. His new deal kicks in July 1st. So I wonder if there might be a window before his new deal kicks in. I don't know for sure but I am curious.

Markstrom is 34 turning 35 and Weager is 30 turning 31 both old for a younger Marner.

I really hope we do not make a trade with Toronto. Toronto players obviously can not get it done. Only player I would be remotely interested in would be Nylander. Also The Leafs Goaltending was fine in the playoffs. We need to keep adding future assets, focus on the kids and the draft. Markstrom should go to Detroit or Jersey so we can get a Center in return. We should get bigger as well. 1 more year of kids to evaluate them and then go nuts is what i think

Toronto is NOT going to have a fire sale. They just lost a 7th game in OT to a team that finished ahead of them in the schedule and with many of their stars not at 100%. Also, they actually still managed to outplay the Bruins, but were beaten by a very good goalie. Also, I don't see Markstrom as a big upgrade over Samsonov. In his 2 years in Toronto, he has played in 14 playoff games to Markstrom's 0, and his avg. save % over those two years is actually a little better than Markstrom's, and Toronto is not known to have a good D-core. And I say all this as a Boston Bruin fan. I am not a Leaf's fan, but have no problem admitting that the better TEAM did not win this series.

The balance of the core was all wrong when kessel was a leaf as it is now only for him to thrive when he was on lines with more physical players such as Hagelin and Bonino at the pens . He is clearly not a physical player and his skills would probably be better used if he played with guys who throw the body around a bit more. Pat Kane also excelled because of playing with physical defensive type guys

Trading Markstrom and Razzy? Throwing Wolfie into the net with a 50% AHL defense could seriously stunt his development and maybe even ruin his career. Not worth it imo. Especially for Marner.

I honestly can't see Nylander going anywhere. He was the Leafs best player against the Bruins. I do not think Marner would be worth what the Leafs will ask for. I think there are better trade partners for Markstrom and Mangiapane. I would hang on to Rasmus though.

Marner isn’t going anywhere unless he waives no trade unless the Leafs tell him they are not prepared to overpay him with a new deal and accept a hometown discount,which he won’t. Marner will then give them a list of teams he will accept a trade for and he must okay any deal and control his destination. It’s a pretty sweet position for a 26 year old to hold over an organization that has won shit for them. It’s Dumbasses fault anyways.

Marner also has 50 playoff points in 57 games and is a strong penalty killer. He only had 3 this season, but still solid stats. Woll, Samsonov and Jones are all better than any Flames goalie. No one wants Markstrom

Look at Kadri I could name a lot of players that were former leafs they make one mistake and that’s it for them. You guys forget Toronto fans wanted Kadri gone so the avs traded for him and he came to the avs and wine a cup. Toronto fans give up on their players to quick so I don’t feel bad for them at all they hated Kadri because he was getting suspended but guess what he fucking was a big piece in the avs winning there cup i was really happy for Kadri then he deserved it my favorite avs player at the time.
