150 years after the Great Famine, we can see that Ireland has more than recovered! What a celebration of persistence, endurance, and love of life! And now, 24 years on, with the Chieftains’ most recent loss of Paddy Moloney, we celebrate his life of trad music mastery and leadership, as well as all the lives of the Chieftains and the Corrs!!! Thank you all, and Paddy, RIP.
what I like about Irish music is the musicians always look like they are having a good time and enjoying themselves. being of Irish descent, I'd like to get over there soon to experience the country and people
I was at this concert, it was a part of the commemorations that took place all over Ireland in respect of the 150th anniversary of the Great Famine. Fantastic night, Mill Street !997
The Corrs make me happy when I'm sad and they make laugh when I'm angry but most of all they make me rejoice for the music that covers the landscape when I travel. Their talent is a blessing.
being English and never visited Ireland .I love the jigs and reels ,don,t know what it means but it stirs something up inside. I now live in Slovakia and the folk music is not the same racey pace ,miss it a lot . never loose the heart of Ireland and keep it alive.
I suddenly feel sad and sentimental. Everyone playing looked so young, so joyous, and so full of energy. As Sandy Denny once wrote and sung "who knows where time goes" is exactly what I am feeling listening to these wonderful performers.
That was absolutely beautiful. No I understand why someone once wrote: "I will ask my God to let me make my heaven in my dear land across the Irish sea". Greetings from a very distant country, Chile.
This is one of the reasons why I want to visit Ireland so much. Just chill in one of their pubs, having a drink and clapping along (or dancing if I really get into the mood) to this kind of music.
the CORRS and the CHIEFTAINS: I love especially the violines... they make it so cheerful and powerful as if you dance on a spiral up and up, the drum makes it earthy at the same time... REALLY GREAT MUSIC, thanks
Saw the Chieftains a few years ago in Springfield Illinois ,It was a moving experience .The crowd sat there enjoying every second of the show .Never get tired of seeing these guys
My great grandfather on my mothers side, was a massive dock worker in my hometown of Hartlepool(in England) And everytime i hear this type of music, i just have this massive smile on my face and feel like dancing.
beautiful music, I love it! best wishes to all irish people, all celtic ppl, I admire you, your culture, your fight for freedom, dont lose your language, thats part of your culture
My full respect and admiration are theirs. I know how much hard work is needed to be able and play the flute/whistle so fast. I love this kind of Irish music, sounds like pure joy.
The Corrs are Irish brother and sisters. Quite authentic, great musicians, and as soon as you think that they are "selling out," they produce something of indescribable beauty. This is one of those numerous occasions.
Someone asked me why this music moves me so strongly and I was at a loss to explain. All that I could think of was that it touches something inside. If it doesn't then no words will make sense...
+Rick Kernell It's impossible to hear something like this and not have it go through my entire being! Can't keep still when i hear it. And my people came to America from Scotland 150 years ago! All things celtic move me.
After every injustice that the Irish have suffered since time began that we can still stand up and play such wonderous music speaks for itself,we are a nation apart,Erin Abu.
A wunderbare Musik und Rhyhmus. Sie steckt uns auch in den Genen. So eine Freude diese Musik. Oder auf steirisch : Echt schein, dass ihr des Olles so guat hinkrigt`s. Mit dea Musik, Rhythmus und Klang des san mia..... Heidi
Toss the Feathers... Yeah! Great tune. Love their version on the album (The Corrs). Celtic music is so powerful. So much drive and energy - amazing. The tap dancing is unbelievable too.
this is awesome...i love the Chieftains and the Corrs too amazing artists of Irish and modern music Up for this video Very nice the piece of the traverse flute seems like a part of The Lord of the Dance very sweet music i love Irish music
Her name is Andrea Corr - and yes in terms of breath control this performance is a feat of it’s own!!! Andrea along with her siblings are fantastic in this Long live “toss the feathers” ❤🎉
Her whistle playing is better than her sister’s “fiddle” playing which is so plain and “classical.” But to each their own. That’s my opinion. It was the Corrs who first inspired me to learn the whistle and fiddle. Unfortunately Andrea Corr likes playing those $3 Walton’s whistle things. I bought some in 2001 and they were downright unplayable. In this video she’s playing what appears to be a Generation nickel whistle. They’re slightly better than Walton’s but hit or miss. I can only imagine the Corrs’ music if she had a finer instrument! There is definitely something to be said for cheaper instruments; my favorite whistle right now is an Oak D. But that was a lucky buy! I’d sooner purchase an Oak over a Generation; I’d sooner purchase a Generation over a Feadog. And I’d buy a feadog and never a Walton’s. Nope
I grew up in an Ireland and in primary school, it was compulsory to learn how to play the Tin Whistle. It's a very squeaky whistle, no matter how much you practice. It's hard to master, and even those who have aren't ever 'perfect', but that's the joys of irish music. It's not meant to be pure perfection, it's meant to be fun, cheerful and upbeat 😊
Where else will you see a lovely lass in an evening gown dresses to the 9's playing a whistle like no tomorrow... Some of the most outstanding flute and whistle playing you can listen to...
John Benton We Irish Americans on this side of the Atlantic have A cure for all this. Make the irish republic the 51st American state, then ulster will become even more of A millstone around englands neck. Its costing them A bundle, Smart people would have gotten out long ago
I was chatting to a nice lady in a garage near Westport. She said she could not understand the nationalists in Ulster; If they were to come over the border to Eire, they would be given a farm each! As they say in Yorkshire, "There's nowt as queer as folk". And, do you know, I think they're right.
this is so alsome to listen to on st pat day this why i love irish music it can always get u upbeat and in a great place. thxs so much for posting this a perfect way to end my st. pat day after a long day of wk...a huge irishman from nj.....
I'm Irish-American and I lived and worked in Dublin for 1-1/2 years. Still not sure which is best: Irish music, Irish pubs or the beautiful Irish women!
I'm across the pond in Florida. I'm a Howard on my father's side but I have some Fitzgerald on my mother's side. I guess that I cry when I hear true Irish music. I can't help it!
