and then there is Deepcolor -she joined Seaborn hivemind of we many just to find painting inspiration -turned out they can't appreciate art because it's useless for survival -Doesn't turn full seaborn out of sheer will to paint -Left we many's hivemind -also invite one seaborn to become her assistant so they can learn to draw together(they left we many and come with her) bonus -Her paint seems to be alive -and it's actually actually alive and is seaborn -she claim that these palettes are her assistant
And then there is also Sami and whole deal with an Infinite Icefield. Imagine You a member of scientific expedition with a task of maping an area in far north, far beyond from civilization. You feel confident, as you have plenty of supplies, cutting edge survey equipment, trusted companions and even help of local guide. You brush away a warning of your guide about strange happenings in the area, deeming them being no more than a baseless rumors. Team gets on foot and expedition is started. It pretty warm (only just 3°C above zero) and so far everything goes smoothly. Few weird nightmares at night wouldn't shake high spirits of the team, as those are just dreams. You keep going, through the forests and mashes, trying to map the route, but something seems off, probably equipment is not that great. You keep going. You start notice things. Symbols appears carved into trees, but not by humans, nor by animals. Nightmares not only got worse, but also share a same repeated theme between team members. Maps from previous expeditions stoped to make any sense. Some people reported seeing strange moving shadows, but photos and videos shows nothing. Weather conditions seems off. It is not only lack of sun and freezing wind - the atmospheric pressure seems.. unstable? There was an issue with routine supplies check. The man responsible for a task is technician and worked with numbers his whole life, but now he couldn't count to ten... Team members keep having minor injury incidents that slowly but steadily drains medical supplies. Equipment keep malfunctioning, despite constant checks and maintenance. One of the men seems to be caught in some dirt black rain, but *there was no rain* One of team members got separated, but fortunately returns safe with some supplies on hands. They claim to find those supplies in one of the rooms in old cabin in forest. You search said cabin, but *there are no rooms in here* Barometer shows rapid changes in atmospheric pressure. As if you suddenly happen to be high in mountains, but in the next minute it drops bellow sea level. You getting dizzy, it is hard to breathe. Your understanding of reality starts to warp. *Shortest route between two points is no longer a straight line* Language you speak at your whole life now sounds more like a random sounds. *But the voice in your head keep calling your name. Your.. name?* You can do longer believe your eyes, as those dark shadows keep getting closer and closer. *A black blood is dripping from the trees...* *Do trees have.. blood?* Your body screams that something is wrong, while your consciousness fighting the chaos to decipher the meaning of a loud yell: "Don't look at it! Don't listen to it! Don't respond to it! Get out of here... run!" Your try to move your legs, but you.. forget how to. Your legs? They should be there. They always been there. Why can't you feel them? Feel what? How that supposed to feel? In response to such confusion your crying brain reflexively moves your body to look at your legs.. But you see your *own back from behind* And in that instance, the pity thing known as "reality" *Collapses* completely.
The demons are something else, isn't it? Now I'm curious if the seaborn took over the world and then one of them got corrupted by the demon (saw them or something idk). Does the corruption spread slowly out of the north or does it just make the whole planet corrupted at the same time?
Which apparently the black hole protocol disregarded completely and set up a base near the Door to which 500 years later they open long enough to traverse and arrive on Talos-II.
This. I love the lore of the demons of Sami. IS4 is really making me fall in love with the lore of Arknights especially with the weaving of memetic info hazards. I wonder who would win in a war of seaborn vs the northern demons.
There is something uncanny yet profoundly tranquil about the assimilation of all living beings into a single unified will, striving toward the peak of evolution while no longer divided by individuality.
it’s the complete lack of nature’s law where there’s no predator and prey, in a way it’s like watching everything swallowed into something like heaven, then it ever ascends until it becomes one with their environment in everlasting equilibrium. but then again that’s apparently impossible because universal law would swallow any environment eventually which ultimately forces it to swallow even the universe, by the end the internals that keeps it alive becomes a universe of it’s own. wether it can beat all universal laws like humans did nature’s law in smaller scale we don’t know. existential crisis hits hard
I'm with you. I'll post a video of me kneeling down if he managed to make a documentary about the world of Arknights. With that I mean everyone, every factions, every nations, every conflicts, every key event, every possible outcome, etc.
@@HauLTCE Another RU-vidr recently showed with an introduction to the world, and is planning to also do that. Would still be nice to get one from Haedal, for a different presentation.
@@rhael42 ya i know but a type 3 civilization can only harness all the energy in their galaxy but doctor's civilization seem to do more than that, anyway the kardashev scale has been added with higher levels even though it's not official so why don't we just put them in 3,5 or 4?
@@rhael42past the k3 point it becomes easier to judge a civilization by its narrative role in the greater universe because the chances that something actually manages to beat out entropy are so infinitesimal that fantasy stories are the only thing we can really compare it to lol
The whole Seaborn story is what hook me to Arknights, even though I usually dislike catastrophic stories where everyone dies Arknights approach is amazing because the main story is not centered in the Seaborns, the main story is about exploring the countries of Terra and their internal and external problems, everybody is so focussed in their own problems and are oblivious of the terrors that Terra have to offer. This really makes the seaborn scary because you know a lot can be lost if the seaborn decided to attack.
and the mundane will still live and strife for tomorrow. the indomitable humanity spirit against all odds, what makes it better is that we haven't got to the point of wh40k yet for the humanity or dune in which the emperor of mankind assured the survival pf the species, it's guaranteed to have the spirit under them. but in ak the ppl are still fighting for daily life, the height of idealism in the face utter horror and seemingly unsolvable problems is what really sells it. thus why the day to day struggle story often appreciated more than it's cosmic one, like Jessica's
That's probably why Kjerag's storyline is appealing to a lot of people, including myself. Enciodes and Gnosis studied in Victoria and got to learn so much more about Terra than they ever could of if they stayed in Kjerag. Now that they're leading the country being backed by Enya and Kjera with the Browntails and Paleroches, they've managed to secure partnerships with Kazimierz, Columbia, and Rhodes Island. At this rate, Kjerag might surpass Laterano in being a diplomatic power.
The story of IS#3 is absolutely peak fiction. While it's just a "What Ifs", each ending gives me goosebumps. I really hope that they'd adapt the whole Seaborn arc and each endings of IS#3 as a movie
Oh my goodness gracious this was wonderful!! I am super happy to have found this video, someone sent it in a server just now and i was really curious to check it out I ADORE arknights for a ton of things, particularly their insane and powerful world building and lore that they have created over the years And it is a shame that the global community does not care as much about these things as the Cn community does, so it makes me undoubtably happy to see such a well made video going over one of the best stories HG has ever created
(I also wanted to talk a little bit about the seaborne too but didnt want to make that original comment too long so here’s this lmao) I find the seaborne to be really interesting, exciting, and terrifying - a huge mass conscience capable of levelling down the entire world, every single nation of terra is completely helpless and their fate is going to be decided the moment the many need to expand more in order to continue to grow Because at the moment they are not doing anything other than attacking Iberia, they could very well overthrow the world, so why haven’t they? They truly only care about nutrition and reproduction, to expand and grow and evolve, but dont have the same greed or envy that the humans have, they feel no rush or desire to immediately target the entire world - simply because *they dont need to* And like thats- i think thats just peak fiction LMAO Because we’ve seen the Ursus empire expand and grow but none of it was by necessity, they thirsted for power Columbia is rushing to develop their technology and science more and more to be the first to accomplish great things to amass all the knowledge in the universe as soon as possible, but what if the world is not ready for what is unknown yet? What if Saria was right to be worried of Kristen’s actions? What if shattering the barrier would’ve created a massive tragedy that brought down the end of the world? And all for what? To write down your findings in books? And then the fact that the seaborne could literally do all of this in an instant with ease, and yet they dont, simply because they do not need to, is astonishing Can you believe how crazy the Ursus empire and Columbia would be if they could get their greedy hands on a seaborne and understand them better? The things they would do if they had the knowledge and power these otherworldly creatures have? I love arknights man its such a good fucking game
The lore on collapsals is pretty wicked, too. Seriously spooky stuff. And chances are we're going to see a lot more of either them, or something associated with them in the future.
The Seaborn are a great piece of cosmic horror primarily because they aren't hostile. You mentioned this before, but they aren't motivated by anything further than their own survival & they will only fight so long as that survival is threatened & they cannot reason with their opposition. I think that's something a lot of writers of cosmic horror get too focused on is that the entity has to be some kind of threat. There will be some form of villain that wants to harm you rather than something that is actively unaware it's even causing pain & its changes are discomfort. The Seaborn are great interpretations of that kind of passive horror that I feel works with cosmic horror. Even with this baseline what really makes the cosmic horror of AK work is that it's not something that's constantly considered by the world. There's a few large scale apocalypse level events that could happen that simply wipe all sapient life off the face of Terra, but that's not something that's always considered. We have events where people aren't just working directly against these extinction events like the demons, the false sky, the seaborn, or the Leviathans. They're in both the foreground & background wherewe have mentions to them like in Lonetrail with Friston, Hortus De Escapismo featuring The Church of the Deep as an answer to the catastrophes, Originium, and famine rather than just as an enemy, and IS4 finally giving us insight as to what demons the Wendigos & Emperor's Blades were made to fight. While they are in the periphery there's more to the world that keeps it human & reminds us how normal the people that will be impacted by this are. There's a lot of normalcy in terms of what characters we see even with the outlandish scenarios & their problems can be mundane. Even in Lonetrail half the stories within are dedicated to talking more about the faults of the scientific community's ties with the military industrial complex rather than the cosmic horror. The world is wide enough that it doesn't feel like you're buying into a horror game/property, you're walking into a world where these are a part of nature and it ranges from beautiful to gruesome to horrifying.
A bit late to this video but always welcome to more Arknights Stuff! The idea of a force so powerful that it overwhelms most of the entire world with minimal effort is always an interesting concept to follow, and I enjoyed the different perspectives and stuff they write up through IS3. Genuinely awesome stuff. The stuff with the Collapsals being just as if not more interesting, especially since it reminds me of SCP and a lot of the reality breaking and cognito hazards and such, always a fun read. Also in case anyone hasn't seen it I recommend the story board of "If you raise me up" by Ziyan Zhang on RU-vid, genuinely an incredible depiction of the Seaborn stuff and IS3 that kept my eyes glued to the screen. I also look forward to more arknights vids! Do need to catch up on reading though as I'm quite behind lol.
whether it's the demonic abominations of kazdel, the eldritch horrors of the seaborn, the anomalous collapsals of the icefields or the originium catastrophes of everywhere else, arknights is filled to the brim with horrors beyond human understanding and things that could probably end all of civilisation. it's truly incredible.
it's kinda ironic that a planetary terraform technology that was supposed to lay down the foundations to support life ends up actively eating everything like a locust swarm and converting other lifeforms into itself like a zombie plague
I absolutely love the flavour text used for the Mystic Sea background on the menu: 'Those who have never been to the edge of the land do not know the sea, much less its vastness.' So simple yet so foreboding.
A documentary dedicated to the Arknights lore? What a time to be alive, wow. I'll be looking forward to that video or series of videos. Love your content style, man, you deserve more recognition imo.
I'd strongly reconmend the fan animation called '[Arknights If] You raise me up' on youtube. It's by one madlad in China. It's a really fantastic animation about the Ending 2 of IS2.
To be fair to Andreana, according to her files, she is likely an attempt at making an Abyssal Hunter by Iberia or the Church of the Deep. Kal'stit said that comparing Andreana to an Abyssal Hunter is like a drop of ink in a swimming pool compared to Abyssal Hunters who are an entire ink well. (I don't remember the exact quote)
it kinda funny when you said Andreana like to hang out with the hunter ladies when her file keep hammering the point she is purposely avoiding from interacting with them.
When i first playing the game, met so many powerful military division like Emperor's Blade, Shadow Guard, etc, i wonder why tf so many countries has so many "overkill" armies like that. After i play Stultifera Navis and Expeditioner's Joklumarkar, now i know that "overkill" is not enough.
there is 4 god seaborn in AK, Caerula Arbor, Isharmla, Primodial lifespring and nevermelting iceberg. and for Primodial lifespring is like the ocean itself you can't kill it unless you drain all Ocean in Terra, and for nevermelting Iceberg we still lack of information about it.
Do not usually leave comments but just had to say I really appreciate your content. Not often I see content creators discuss the actual world of Arknights in this manner. Keep up the good work.
'The seaborn are the greatest threat to Tera' confused demon shrieking out of their own dimension 'heah' There are also hints that Doctors race actually escaped to Terra and sealed it from the cosmos, because there was something more scary going on outside. How scary can that be that you FLEE to TERRA. (No, I don't read the CN lore, so keep your spoilers to yourself.)
As someone who loved Starcraft long before discovering Arknights, I still find it amusing that the seaborn really are basically just the zerg, with all the terrifying potential that implies.
Ahh Seaborn. Their lore is just fascinating to me and I maintain that Under Tides is one of their best story events. The mystery and horror just intrigued me.
Funny though perception of seaborn after is3 ed 3 and newest event differ It become more of scary yet beautifull The one who occupies the horror now is collapsal and later observer Collapsal we know a bit it cognitive hazard that also able to conceptualy warp everythings including number Meanwhile observer is still unknown but the fact that doctor Civilization destroyed by it should tell you everythings about observer(seaborn created by doctor and their team as one of the plan again observer) Edit:oh i forgot in path of life terra historicus post there is actually hipotesis by aegir scientist about destruction of the previous Civilization there is 2 1.they conceptually negated by the will of universe itself 2.there is higher being bigger than the universe conceptually negate them
I've always loved the Seaborn's name for themselves. "We Many" is such a good name. It's very alien in it's phrasing and usage, but just human enough to get the point across.
What's also insane is that the Seaborns still remain as one of the hardest enemies to deal with even in today's standards gameplay wise if you don't have the necessary knowledge to counter them. The Seaborns are capable of ending the world of Terra if they truly wanted to.
I'm 4years into this game. And im just not a reader at all so I rarely read anything at all, I mostly watch summary videos but even then I know I'm missing a lot. That's why I really need more videos like this.
Doctor should heed the last roar of The Last Knight, then lead all of his political, pharmaeutical and logistical trickery to kill the ocean already Especially since it's hinted that his nature alongside Priestess were beyond of Terra and its infestations
With this in mind, im guessing the final chapter of arknights is the last stand against the seaborn. We had the reunion arc, the victorian arc, and if arknights' live service is about to end, we will have a dedicated seaborn arc. It's possible this is the last chapters of arknights, because i cant imagine a conflict far greater than od the seaborn. Maybe the sami and it's shenanigans up north. Now that i think about it, talos 2 of endfield is a different planet from terra if i remember it right. Is it because terra was engulfed by the seaborn, forcing its residents to migrate to talos 2, with a new problem called the blight? Im excited as to what the writers will cook for future arknights stories, and how will they solve the problem of the inevitability to introduce bigger conflict than the previous one to continue the rising of stakes. Oh also, *how about you join us, the skadi's cult?*
Crazy to think about yhe other as well, the calapsuls are another one (tho they are new to the lore of Arknights, to use players) and that they have been around way before you (the doctor) and other ancients, and before Oripathy and Kal'tsit as well. And what makes them even scary-er is that the "god loke" aegir does not know of them and they are more powerfull and unknown than the Seaborn/Firstborne
Hey can you talk about playable and unplayable arts(powers/abilities) since no one ever mention them at all. The more we wait the bigger the story becomes.
I find it so funny that allegedly the first civilization created these beings to make terra a better place. Speaking of, a giant leviathan god corpse being at the bottom of the ocean that feeds off of the earth's core is also a pretty scary thought
Nah Is confirmed in oracle/doctor diary record that seaborn created basically to study evolution Doctor races gonna use that data to survive observer destruction But after everythings even if seaborn avle to evolute and adapt it will be over before that happen
@okboi5723 ah yeah that makes sense. I try to stay away from cn stuff so I don't know about that. I think I remember something being said about improving society??? in one of Mizuki's modules, don't remember what exactly is stated
Yeah but we do have 2 seaborn lords on our side: skadi and mizuki. So knowing the doctor of this timeline is freaky af, he won't let shit happens to his lovely wives/husbands 😂
I want to argue about the Seaborn being the biggest threat, they might be the most unmanageable threat but at the end of it all it is only Originium that will remain.
Lol, read next IS about EVEN MORE cosmic horror from Sami lands, about Collapsals. There is not one threat in fun world of Terra. Warhammer 40k already lost his place on the top of cosmic horrors pick.
Yep, with all the talk about the Patriot, he is that stupid strong lore-wise because northern Terra is in constant slow warfare with collapsals. Ursus is literally one great catastrophe away from Iberia’s fate. And there’s also a black hole somewhere near - that’s where horror truly becomes cosmic.
I mean, perfect summary of great silence illustrated in a video of Ziyin Zhang short movie: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zMPSQu8FSpQ.html, that event litteraly are just so terrifiyng i dunno, arknights have a lot of potential to be a horror style narrative, it's insane, i was litteraly terrified of this vid, i mean, can you just image, all of this horde just pushing through all heroes, all vehiecles, just by a sheer number. It kinda reminds me of tyranids from 40k.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zMPSQu8FSpQ.htmlsi=rx3vwwadDYGteJEJ here is a fanmade vid even tho this is not cannon to the story it did a great job to potray the horor of seaborn
