What's a “cowboy knot? It's a way of tying a knot that's fast, flashy, and fun!
The figure 8 on a bight is one of the fundamental knots in climbing. Here's the cowboy version of tying it. (I learned this #CraftyRopeTrick a long time ago from a rock gym manager, and have loved it ever since.)
There may be a twist in it when you're done; dress your knot properly to make it tidy.
