Presented by RWB Daniel Hrinko
June 15th, 2024
Brother Daniel Hrinko will be discussing the essential principles that can become the basis for any Lodge to grow, develop, and to evolve into the best version of itself. These principles are based upon his experiences in the formation and development of Arts and Sciences Lodge No. 792, Grand Lodge of Ohio.
This presentation will not be a simple listing of what to do, but instead a review of essential principles of how brothers interact to allow them to form a clear picture of what they want from their Masonic experiences, methods of organizing themselves to be able to develop the conrod arena necessary to include everyone in the process of building a lodge, and to then focus on the necessary skills and directions to promote brotherhood within the Lodge so that all expectations are clearly defined and met.
The key principles outlined in this program will then equip any group of brothers with the ability to improve an existing lodge, develop a new lodge, and to continually operate their Lodge in a manner that allows it to remain true to its purpose, principles, goals, and expectations.
Brother Daniel D. Hrinko was raised April 1977 in Clark Lodge No. 101 Springfield, Ohio, Grand Lodge of Ohio. He served as Worshipful Master of Clark Lodge No. 101 in 1982-1983, and again in 2004-2005. He was the Worshipful Master of Arts & Sciences Lodge Under Dispensation in 2009-2010, and served as the Charter Master of Arts & Sciences Lodge No. 792 in 2010-2011. He served as a District Deputy Grand Master during 2015, 2016, and 2017. He received the 33rd degree from the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction in 2021.
Brother Hrinko is currently the Worshipful Master of American Union Lodge No. 1, Grand Lodge of Ohio, originally chartered in February, 1776 as a Revolutionary War military Lodge.
Brother Hrinko has penned “The Craft Driven Lodge”, a book reflecting on the process used during the formation and subsequent operation of Arts & Sciences Lodge as it grew from the Goose and Gridiron Social Club to become the thriving Lodge it is today. He has also penned “The Purple of the Fraternity, a handbook for District Deputy Grand Masters, Grand & Lodge Officers”. This illustrates that the principles taught in our craft align directly with the concepts of servant leadership and offer models for behavior that will serve those in leadership positions well.

What I enjoyed about this video the most is its beng a good example of integrity, sense of pride and excellence in work performed, being a supportive and helpful member of an assemblage working towards a goal, and always questioning the status quo for the sake of bringing things to a higher state of coherence.

why not have committees to answer specific issues within the Freemasonry?

Grand Lodges are the problem period. Even if the subordinate lodge wanted to take this approach…they cannot for the above stated reason. At least in my experience. I’ve come so close to walking away from Masonry many times because of “social club” masonry.

Why teach a man to fish so he could eat for a lifetime? Why not teach a man to teach others how to teach others to fish so that all men could eat for the rest of eternity? The efforts spent on one man could ripple to all mankind more efficiently, perhaps too efficiently in the such that, if all men were to fish there would be no more fish left in the ocean thus pointing out a scarcity problem and perhaps presenting a lack of innovative problem-solving initiatives on a fundamental level? I'm not in but I would love to know these mystical "secrets" or knowledge in order to create a more effective system if it is to improve the universe and solve those areas which could fatally threaten it. It appears that Freemasons are having a difficult time recruiting perhaps due to current restrictions in its framework.... if so, why does it appear to me that change is seemingly taboo within your fraternity to resolve dire issues? why so secretive if your Freemasonry knowledge is to benefit mankind? Why not open a Freemason Univeristy? is a potential future mason selected only by the favorable appeal of these all-fateful Freemasons who are holding the key that could open the door to others in order to also promote the potential for a better world like you do, these men imprisoned within their own perceptions and perspectives and who are universally tainted by an unalienable individual or collective bias tamed to a certain degree? Isn't the only thing to fear is fear itself? Sounds like lodges are upheld to show work to a certain minimum standard and that the Grand Lodge is alike to a board of directors setting the framework, and the rules, identifying specific results or goals that need to be achieved, and to not mingle in doing the job of the executives, aka the Lodges, to prevent the potential for conflicts of interest, who devise the plans and make it happen, revising, and improving upon them. How is the Freemasonry adopting technological advances into their operations (other than RU-vid videos) to further bring efficiency in this forever changing world? How is the Grand Lodge designed to bring forth changes within its own framework to ensure sustainability and effective efficiency? Thank you for the presentation, it was very interesting and insightful. Cheers!
