A few things to note, the combat patrol/units have different rules/stats then those noted in the index. So if you are using the box to play combat patrol just remember: 1. Wraithlord does not have the strands of fate keyword and therefore cannot benefit from strands of fate. He is also equipped with 1 bright lance and 2 shuriken catapults and ghostglaive. 2. Farseer does not have the ability to turn any dice into a 6 in combat patrol, they only have fortune. 3. You do not get unparalleled foresight in combat patrol. 4. The guardians have to be ran as guardian defenders. Those are just a few things that should be pointed out if you plan on playing combat patrol.
Thanks you are absolutely correct! I personally don’t think the combat patrol loadouts are great obviously but ya they were considerably toned down to be balanced which I kind of understand to a degree…Very helpful info I failed to mention in the video I’ll pin this comment so everyone can see it!
@@TheBasCast yea, all his weapons hitting on 4’s with no chance to re-roll can be brutal. I have had success by getting him in melee though. The ghostglaive can put in some work!
Picked up this box on a whim because the Amazon price was so low. Decided to build a Ynnari army off the back of this and the Drukhari Combat Patrol box as well. Really glad you are doing a series on these!
This is really useful, thank you. I hadn't really considered what good value for money the combat patrol represented in 10th. It really is wild how guardians have suddenly gone from overpriced trash to pretty decent in the space of one edition.
I totally agree it took me a moment to realize this as well! I had a hard time recommending this to new players last edition but as of now it’s easily the best single purchase you can make as a new player or someone who doesn’t yet own the contents in the box! Guardians are really quite solid now as well!
2 boxs + Aurtarch is not a bad starting set. youll have 3 extra wind riders but this gives you options later or just not get the Aurtarch, and then take one unit of 6 windriders. either way you end up with 995points
How effective do you feel the fatebreakers (the combat patrol name) are at the combat patrol game type? What is your opinion on the combat patrol game type? I am coming back to warhammer (Havent played since 5th edition) and the combat patrol game type seems fun.
I feel they are pretty effective as a force overall! You definitely don’t want to use the loadouts for larger games outside CP but I’ve had a decent experience the few times I’ve played it. It’s fun at the very least and pretty strong!
I'm just sad that the Start Collecting box went for this, that was legit insane and pretty meta and from 8th to this edion all units were good enough to justify buying 3.
