Folks with kids should not haul them around in insanely expensive and sophisticated automobiles, that’s not just dumb, it’s sacrilegious. I’m sure some German engineer at MB cried himself to sleep tonight after seeing what your kid did (thoughtlessly I might add) to that beautiful door panel! Also, you have plenty of hooptees you can do burnouts with, please don’t molest this car! Everything Mercedes knows went into making this car, and let’s face it: that’s a LOT! Respect the car! No point trying to destroy it all in the first 2 weeks of ownership! They still turn heads here in Dubai where we see the craziest cars on a daily basis! Get an ‘82 Tercel to haul your kids around, do it for a week! They’ll get the message, and it’s also good parenting!
@@mikedemarchelier9090 Well, I hope the quality of this car isn't that bad that you molest it with driving it once with 70-80 km/h into a tight bend. I see a lot of respect for this car by buying it and have it properly checked by the Car Wizard...😉
@@mikedemarchelier9090 I understand your passion here but Hoovies family rides top style whatever that is. The car can always be fixed. I actually greatly respect Hoovie for saying his girl broke it but she's a hellion JUST LIKE HE WAS... He didn't say it with any anger. At the end of the day , it's just car someone got rid of because they knew it was about to get horrendously expensive to maintain. A classic car for sure, but still.... just a car. I feel more love for the Hurst Mustang he has up on the rack then this wonderful Mercedes. But that's just me.
I'm really glad Hoovie's around to make huge financial mistakes for everyone's entertainment and education. Thank you to Tyler and thank the Car Wizard for his service!
Hoovie's a shrewd businessman. Notice how he only associates with people that can help him achieve his goals. He doesn't make huge financial mistakes. He makes investments.
Well, if Hoovie has his way, Wizard won't be allowed to retire because this car alone will keep him very busy! 😂😂 And yes, I've seen plenty of videos from other owners who say these cars are a pain in the butt to maintain when they're a certain age/mileage.
I work for a Benz dealer up in Canada and I can tell you one really neat thing about this cars is the doubles, or backups of many systems. Double calipers, twin brake lines, dual radiators, alternator has twin stators. So cool, these cars are so unique. The 62 weighs more than a g wagon and barely evens fits on our hoistes
No to scammer. Reported him as terrorism. Hopefully it's gone. How does RU-vid not detect and delete scammers. Users made tools to automate deleting those because RU-vid refuses. Happy veterans day wizard!!
Perfect illustration of "I have the money to buy it, but i cann't afford it" - sometimes the up-front money is fine, but the follow-up for repairs and simple maintenance is a killer!
I sell batteries for interstate and ill tell you people always try to go cheap on a luxury car. Wonder why its 250 to 300 for a battery on there 70 thousand plus vehicle lol the amount of people calling for used batteries for Beemers is ridiculous lol
@@joseureste8257 Exactly! Especially as they move down the chain and get a few years old, when people "buy" them on terms because they want to show off their 'wealth', but can barely cover payments. When you consider some models use uncommon batteries, it's even worse - you're going to have fun when the 48V euro's start needing those batteries 😉
My first thought when I saw the “this is better than a minivan!” video was that a windshield replacement probably costs more than my Honda Odyssey… and I feel pretty confident that it is.
Maybe, maybe not. I used to be in the glass business and yes, many low volume exotics like this had very hard to find and very expensive windshields. But not only are such windshields expensive to replace, they are expensive to have manufactured so when they can, they will use an off the shelf windshield from an existing model. This may very well have a standard Merc windshield you can get from any glass supplier for a couple hundred bucks. Or it may be a bespoke item now unobtainable and you would have to track down the one warehouse somewhere that had the sense to buy a whole crate of them before they stopped production and would be happy to ship one to you, for a couple grand of course. The real expense will probably be those door glasses as those are probably bespoke items. Possibly the backglass as well since even standard Mercs tend to have very expensive backglasses.
@@MrPaxio if you just want them to look then they will. If you want it repaired they roll that into the repair cost. It still takes time to do the diag and they need to charge for it.
I'm disappointed Wizard did that. That car already had air suspension warning popping up. What if something suddenly gave out with the car perched like that on jacks?
A buddy of mine had a click click in the front of the engine of a V-12 S-600. We thought it might be something in the timing chains. Another buddy came out and said the clicking was not at anything with relation to engine rpm. He narrowed it down to the smog pump. Whew!
There was a video here on RU-vid like 15 years ago, where someone parked one of these in a no parking zone in Vienna and someone filmed the several failed attempts to tow this car away. Because it was either too large or too heavy no towing company managed to tow the thing 😂
Try this brilliant little tip that I have invented. And it really really works. While the jaguar engine is on the bench, get a microfiber rag and a can of satin black spray paint,,,now then I have been doing this for over 30 years. Make a ball shape at one end of the rag and wet it with the paint. Now without being too gentle scrub the sides of the block and this will absolutely make the block look new but, 1950s new and it won't look painted. Trust me it is so worth it hoovie ✌️👍
That airmatic warning could be something with the level sensors. My e63 kept doing that - turns out the u bolts holding the level arms to the tie rods on the front wheels were super loose so the system could never get a plausible reading of the vehicle level when driving.
It's only really the tech that's improved. The big engine, lots of space, recline seats with massage, blinds and privacy screens...etc etc. As you said, it's pretty much the same as today.
You’d need a killer test bench to test that alternator. Some rebuilders get military testers. Mine has a 5HP electric motor that alternator would pop my circuit and stop the motor way before I got it under a full load. Thankfully there’s still a couple hundred good rebuilders like myself left in this country who can rebuild your alternator for way less than $7000.
@@Rickiye A lot of people aren’t aware OEM isn’t the only option. I’d actually prefer if he supports a rebuilder local to him, I’m on the East Coast and have too much work. I’m advocating for rebuilding it’s a dying art and we should all support small American businesses.
@@jrs4ex No shame in promoting your hustle while keeping it classy bro. Your comment is at least better than the automated bots that hijack every other YT comment.
600a x 12v = 7200w -> about 10hp give or take. That more or less agrees with a typical portable generator hp, depending on the efficiency. That's nuts.
At 2:26 you mentioned the coil pack is 6 coils in one span. You are correct it is in one span but this motor is actually two spark plugs per cylinder so both of the two ignition coil units contain 12 per side. For a total of 24 spark plugs!
@@charlie1832 No Daytona is from Harbor fright. Before you scream made by china crab Daytona jack is actually made in the same factory as snap-on jacks. So basically it is a snap-on. Snap on tried sue HF but failed. It’s a really interesting story look them up if you are curious
I'm excited to see what else Tyler bought from the auction. The Maybach purchase is certainly justified because of the incredibly low price. But the repair bills are really going to eat your wallet. I love the beautiful 456 GT. It's one of the few Ferrari's I'd want to own. Great content as usual. I Love seeing the Wizards reaction. Thanks.
To be fair...a regular W220/W222 is quite affordable if well maintained. If you're expecting a cheap Maybach you got obviously no clue about german engineering
Glad to see Wizard enjoying himself in the back of that luxury sedan, he’s a veteran so he definitely deserves that and more, thank you for your service Wizard…
is it from pity or respect? bcos id feel used like my friends in the military tell me. i feel pity they had to fight for some democrat liar. and those people do deserve it all, considering they were used for power flex of leaders. glad he has his own business taking advantage of what capitalism has to offer, instead of capitalism using him for what he has to offer, but it comes at a cost of people who dont even care, they just want to live a quiet life
@@MrPaxio not at all, I’m just respecting individuals that fought for our freedoms, you are very disrespectful to all of the fallen veterans that passed away for your freedoms and current vets like Wizard, think about that…
I was trying to purchase a Maybach 57 from MB of Plano a few years ago. It had suspension issues and ultimately, because of this and it’s inability to pass state inspection because of the struts (even though I was going to take it out-of-state), refused to sell it to me and sent it to auction. I bought a S65 instead…and promptly had to replace the ABC tandem pump. I think I’m better off!
The ABC tandem pump and the dynamic seat system pump. The AMG models use the hydraulic rather than the airmatic suspension. Together it was about $5k. Before buying the car, I verified the spark plugs and coil packs had been recently replaced; about $6-7k with labor at the dealer. Another big ticket item are the brake rotors. MB gets about $1,800 per rotor...just the rotor.
Just on the 456 - I ran a 456M GT for a few years, with stock exhausts, and always felt it was quiet. Then one day on a Club run we went belting up a few hills in pursuit of single-figure MPG and when we stopped the chap behind (in a 612) commented on the awesome soundtrack. So I think it's mostly cabin insulation...? Thanks for your channel - came here from Freddie's, and Cartrek. 👍
This is one of my favorite cars. Every since I delivered one overnight to the Mercedes dealership in Dallas from three states away ( I never stopped to eat or sleep so fearful was I that something would happen to them) They had a 57 on the carpeted sales floor. Absolutely stunning. I'd still love to own one today.
I bet the belt is wider because of the high power alternator. So other accessories like the water pump might be the same but with a swapped pulley for the wider belt. So if your pulley doesn't break on one of those components you might be able to get a standard s class part and swap pullies.
Dude spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars and makes much more through his content creation but can't even get his kid the 2 cup holder Graco seat? Damn.
oh hey thats my favourite mechanic magic mikes boss in the back of the maybach ,such a cool dude,if anyone idled up to a closed roller door and sat on a horn at my work the mechanics there would loose their cool and start complaining but not MM, hes just so happy to see a potential customer ,just the perfect employee ,10/10 for service
I knew when I saw the first Hoovies Garage video on this Maybach 62 that this ultra luxury automobile would be very expensive to maintain and repair. The depreciated price for the vehicle was very good, which helps compensate for the expensive repair and maintenance costs.
That noise, could be an idler pulley. My ford was like that. When it was cold the bearing in the idler squealed then once it warmed up and got hot (and expanded) it tightened up the blown bearings and stopped.
Probably could rebuild that alternator. They used to do that in every small town. They would replace the parts, rewrap the windings, replace the bearings, and give it a good cleaning.
I got to drive an series 1 E-Type with chassis number 19, and my goodness.... once you are in, it is just such a great place to be, and the stainless exhaust..... wow.....
Happy Veterans Day to the Car Wizard.. you made me laugh when you said I have no problem taking your money! That's hilarious. Enjoy this day that recognizes your service to our country!
a bearing replacement in an alternator, any alternator, is a relatively simple and inexpensive job. i wouldn't be worried, unless i was planning on taking it to a mercedes service center. now, THAT would worry me. :)
If it's an idler pulley, you can press the bearings out of the pulley, and in many cases get a similar bearing from a place like motion. Usually the bearings are held in with a spring clip. Probably a lot cheaper than a new pulley, esp in this case.
I worked at a glass laminating shop that made windows like that roof for aircraft. The film is around a hundred bucks a square foot.. The specialty glass is close to the film price so materials alone are verrrrrrry expensive.
Be careful with not using Jackstands, lots of people die from not using them. As smart as y’all are you should know better. I am a 41 yr old mechanic a dad and a granddad. I used to not care about jackstands but I have a family now and I want to be here for them and help them if they need anything. I love to see my both my sons get married and watch my beautiful granddaughter grow up. I know you don’t want some other man rising your kids because you didn’t put a jackstand under your car.
I will forever be indebted to you, you’ve changed my whole life, I’ll continue to preach about your name for the world to hear. You’ve saved me from a huge financial debt with just little investment, thank you so much Mr Abbreu John
Mr Abbreu John changed my life, he has been amazing, ever since I met him, my life took a positive turn because of the passive income through him, he really is a professional trader and awesome person
runs, drives, looks great. doesnt need all the little tech doodads 100% perfect. just keep on the lookout for a salvage auction wrecked specimen to strip for parts some day.
