No one needs to believe me, but this is true: at the one Smash Summit Mekk was at, the more I heard him speak the more I started to get this vague (absolutely baseless) feeling that I wouldn't be surprised if sometime down the line he said something really racist or homophobic or something. i have to say re: mangos criticism of rankings, a lot of ppl poke fun at him for not making precise enough points, but he is a high school drop out and it feels unfair to chide him for not having the best language to expression a point that is otherwise legitimate. there is a degree of inconsistency in both attendance and in weight given to peaks vs consistency, and it can be especially frustrating exactly because the melee stats approach is supposed to be so “empirical” when it’s actually a lot more qualitative than ppl admit
