In this video, we’re going to go over three more creepy and disturbing disappearances. One of these is a classic just out of sight and then gone forever. But the other two are especially creepy because foul play can’t be ruled out. Each of these cases also remain unsolved to this day, and as is often the case, despite extensive resources and searches, not a single trace of these people has been found, only adding to the mystery. We've mapped nearly every foot of the Earth's surface, but it's still possible to vanish without a trace in the space of 50 feet or so (as happened to a female hiker with her friends in a previous video; she went around a bend ahead of her friends and simply disappeared forever within a few seconds). Scary thought.

Neat thing to say, but false. We have NOT 'almost' mapped the Earth. I big over credit to forestry maps and to those of us who worked forestry. Some maps are almost a suggestion., even after Google maps. People dont talk like they used to, so much 'community' has been lost in America. More cameras, but less 'word of mouth'. We are lied to that we 'know' what inside our Earth looks like. Doubly so with the oceans. Many will never be found as they are in nature...and nature moves those bones all around. We may find a big foot quicker than some of the 70's cold cases involving hiking. Yeah......@@ianmiller6040

Another weird thing: Kaitlyn’s step-dad had said he could take her early due to his work schedule, but police learned that he hadn’t even showed up for work that day. His phone pinged mostly around his property that day. Unsure what kind of alibi this guy had, bc it sure looks like he had something to do with her disappearance.

I definitely think he had nothing to do with it, you have to remember that the mom was the one calling HIM, that's not something opportunistic killers do when trying to find someone, if someone wants to harm someone else they'll typically do it themselves, not wait for someone else to let them. More importantly if he wanted to harm them then wouldn't he have done so while he was with the mother instead of years down the line? It just doesn't make sense unless there's something that proves it. Also there's just no evidence that he had anything to do with it, there's more evidence to say that the woman ran away after cheating on her gf than it was anything involving the step father, at worst i believe she confided in him about her affair and he helped keep it a secret.

If he had to hitchhike to get around, and the last person he saw was his sister in going to go out on a limb and say his mother wasn't around much, possibly working. I bet she usually got home at 7 which is why that was his curfew. That level of independence at that age makes a good case for a neglected child who has always had to do things on his own.

Eight is not that small. I used to go camping with scouts at that age with hardly any adults supervising us. We were completely fine, no one ever got lost. These stories are exceedingly rare.

I agree but it's different where he lives I think bc one bc I think alaska usually has smalls towns and stuff. but that's absolutely insane to let them doing anything alone with that distance. idc if he even had 2-3 friends with him. but i'm assuming he did that bc it's a small town and everyone probably knew each other. but idgaf. this is his mothers fault.

That last one... Anytime you have stories where the last known person to have seen the victim is confirmed to be lying about where they were supposedly "dropping them off", etc... It becomes kind of obvious that they very likely had something to do with their disappearance. I just found a really detailed write-up of the case on Reddit from some years back, and the stepfather also said that he was picking her up early because he said he had to be at work early, but then he never went to work that day at all. He also refused to provide any of his phone records or passwords to police.

I grew up in Alaska and was David's age during that time. Kids up there tended to wander a lot, but not 11 miles! What the heck. Very isolated highway for a bad person to just be coming along; more likely a bear got him.

I get a strange feeling the stepfather did something to Kaitlyn. From the conflicting text messages to her luggage being tossed. I don't believe she ran away forever. I hope the stepfather was thoroughly investigated. Her case would be a good cold case study.

Murdered her and disposed of the body. Maybe he got angry and killed her in a fit of rage and then sent the texts using her phone to try and create some kind of scenario that would clear him of suspicion. I hope they are still investigating that guy because he is 100 percent responsible.

The Douglas Legg case is really sad. My theory is that he was distracted by something interesting on his way back to the house and decided to veer off to investigate it (like a deer or a rabbit). He got lost and died in the woods.

It was said during the search multiple adults fell up to their shoulders in sink holes. He likely got distracted by something went off trail and was swallowed by the earth. Add in days of heavy rain and the sink hole might have filled itself in on top of him.

Yes, I believe he went into one of the bogs or sink holes. Though I guess really the vast majority of people probably know he's in the woods somewhere, it's just such rough land to search. It's amazing how many wilderness searches completely miss the person they're looking for even when they're searching exactly where the body is later found.

@@vesuviusjohn7558On my clean up the woods trek across from my house I've found spots of floating land with huge pockets of mud underneath and a few springs of underground streams. Now there's ice which is a great indicator of moving water or water of different temps making these spots easier to find. As I own part of this apparently my plan is to flood the land temporarily, which I've done once, for plastic bottles to float up and easier removal of other dumped items. Still scared of finding something I don't want to.

Perfect scenarios give rise to intrusive thoughts. Sometimes when I jog in the street early have peculiar experiences. from dudes in cars that didn’t get a good look at me that drive close by and take a peek and drive away when they see I am a dude and most likely they wouldn’t be able to apprehend me for I am very well build. I sense dark thoughts if I was instead a woman. Because this dudes don’t come out as normal guys just doing neighborhood watch. They look really shill and creepy.

Katelin Michelle Akens was last seen in Springfield, Virginia on December 5, 2015. She was supposed to fly out of Reagan National Airport that day, and got a ride with her former stepfather, James Branton. She had booked a flight to Arizona, where she lived with her fiancée. Akens has no history of mental illness and no history of dropping out of sight. The last confirmed sighting of her was at Branton's home. He refused to cooperate with the police in her case, would not let them look at his phone and would not take a polygraph test.

Definitely very likely that he had something to do with her disappearence. What and why...we might never know but everything points to that. I would love to know if she was actually seen in the mall where she was supposed to be. They have cameras everywhere these days.

I was very much a latchkey kid, I wasn’t very supervised and I wandered alone in the woods lot, but I definitely wasn’t hitchhiking 30 miles or walking roads alone. At no point in history did we EVER live in a trustworthy society for it to be acceptable of parents to allow their babies to do these things. I’m so tired of hearing “oh well is was the 50’s/60’s/70’s/80’s/90’s” it’s okay to accept that you’re bias and admit that parents were irresponsible for allowing this!!

Agreed. At least in the 70s and 80s kids who could basically go wherever they wanted had parents who didn't care about them. That was a fact. Otherwise, every adult was looking out for the kids in the neighborhood and if they saw you somewhere you shouldn't be, they took you home and told your parents and even cussed them out sometimes for not doing a better job.

That stepdad looks very guilty. Not from the stupid friend thing but from the plans changing and him dropping her off at a mall “a couple bus stops away” from where he was going to drop her off at. Plans change but yikes, not a good look. I wonder if he has a rock solid alibi for after dropping her off and that’s why he hasn’t been looked at more thoroughly

Did you hear the end tho? She straight up cheated on her fiancé and wanted to bail. Maybe she told him she was going to the mall but in actuality got bus ticket and just bounced from that bus stop onto wherever else. Who knows maybe something bad happened afterwards. Maybe she was then abducted or got hurt. Maybe she ended herself.

@@lawrencetalbot8346Her stepdad said he dropped her off at the mall but her personal items were found back by the stepdads house and her phone was used to send conflicting texts. Stepdad was the last person to see her alive. The simplest answer is that the stepdad did it and the local cops messed up. They should have searched his house and his car ASAP.

Like some of these stories, my daughter disappeared about 8 years ago. My last interactions with her were extremely odd, and made no sense. Unlike these stories, I did hear from her briefly, a year ago. But to this day, none of us in the family know why she went, or where she was all those years. My Mom, her grandmother, died never knowing where she was or if she was alive. She has two sons and one was left behind to be raised by his dad, and she took the other boy with her. The family relations were fine, and there were no real problems, so we have no idea why she left. As I said, i did hear, briefly from her, about a year ago. She had been living in a religious cult, and had left, and we offered to help her get on her feet. A couple days later, she called me and said she’d decided to return to the cult. We havent spoken since.

I like to do hiking trips and ever since my hiking buddy had a kid I've been going solo. I still get a little creeped out how I can pass by a large group of hikers and not even 2 minutes later not be able to hear them talking or laughing or anything due to the terrain and wind. Agreed. I understand the "it was a different time" argument but this isn't that situation. "It was a different time" is sending your ten year old to get cigarettes from a store 30 minutes away, not letting an 7 almost 8 year old walk 11 miles to an icy River without supervision in Alaska along with hitchhiking. Let's imagine rapists and murderers didn't exist it would still be irresponsible, insane and dangerous.

When I was 10 I was riding my bike to the next town over all the time. By the time I was 13-14 I was going into the city which was 15 miles one way. All my parents asked was for me to tell them where I was heading and who I was going with and to be home by the time the street lights came on. With today’s community I wouldn’t let my kid do.

This is an approved mode of transportation for David! Ignore the fact that he's only in the first grade. He's a very responsible first grader! 😳 I'm guessing this approved mode of transportation is what led to David coming up missing! Shocker! I wouldn't hitchhike as a teenager when it was a cool thing to do. I guess stranger, danger was never discussed! 😟

I picked up a hitchhicking kid of about 14 y/o the other day. It was in the (big) village I live. It was raining and his bike broke, he was going to get late for his drumming lessons. People don't hitchhike often here. Never encountered it before. But it was actually pretty nice. Kind, friendly kid and I was happy I could help. Of course, his bike broke. It's a different story when your parents parents just say: take a hike. But who knows, maybe the area tipically has all sorts of neighbours riding up and down the route and it felt save.

If he needed a ride, I drove him wherever he needed to go or at least made arrangements for someone else to drive him. I can't imagine having a first grader, and depending on where he wanted to go. It was considered ok to hop in someone's car! You're just setting your kid up to be abducted or worse! Be careful picking up hitchhikers, too! 😃

As someone who lives in Alaska, pedophiles and sex trafficking have been a bad problem up here for a long time. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if David ended up in Florida and was trafficked. Sad and it almost seems like there’s nothing that can be done. Recently a kid was grabbed in the grocery store, during the day, while the mom was holding her! If it wasn’t for people acting quickly and stopping the guy who knows what would’ve happened to that kid. The world’s a sick place and growing up in AK has made me realize animals are the least of your worries.

That’s why I’m so grateful I live in the city now. I grew up in a rural area of a small town and our nearest neighbors were about a quarter of a mile away and the police and EMT were more like a 20-3o min drive. Staying home alone sometimes at night in my teens and 20s it really makes you realize how easy something could happen. At least in my condo now, I’m surrounded by neighbors who can hear me if something happens and who keep an eye on my place when I’m not home. I miss living in the country, but it is not somewhere I would want to live alone or just myself and kids.

I can't believe Davids mom allowed him to wander around so far from home, I'm shocked actually. Poor kid negligent mother. The 2nd story at 12:20 you touched on something I saw with my own eyes. Many years ago while in a park in NY my family and I saw a teen boy being pullout of a muddy bog, sinkhole. He was chest high in it and crying. If he had been alone he might've sank and never been found. Maybe Douglas took a short cut and he stepped into a bog and sank, maybe that's what happened to him. You said bogs were all over the estate. Very sad. Last story? Ex step dad, he probably did it.

You grew up in a different world than us older folks. I grew up in the 80s and 90s; back then, it was common for kids to go out alone. However, I do agree that HITCHHIKING seems pretty strange. I was told by my parents not to talk to strangers or get in their cars.

My uncle went missing when I was in my late teens. One day he was just... gone. He traveled a lot but never failed to send his mom- my great-grandmother- birthday, Christmas and mother's day cards. So when they stopped showing up we just knew. Even the FBI deemed him deceased after years and years of searching. I think that may have been the worst part.. I miss you, Uncle Freddy ❤

In Ballarat Australia, a woman in her 50's went missing around 3 weeks ago now. They've been doing searches and many people in the community have gone out to look for her, but she's literally just vanished without a trace. They can't find even a single shred of evidence of where she may have gone or what may have happened to her. She disappeared sometime after 9am when she went for a run on some local bush trails and nobody saw where she went or what happened, and she left no trace of even being there. The bushland has been extensively searched, and I'm pretty sure they've used K9 units as well and even the doggos can't find where she may have gone. It's so sad and shocking when it happens in your own backyard, and very unsettling as well. in any case, we're all hoping that she is found alive and well even as our hope is fading bit by bit.

Dang, David Borer was super close in age to me. He would have been 43 this March and I will turn 43 shortly after he would have. Thinking back on the last 35 years of my life and thinking about all that I've experienced it kinda helps me realize exactly how much the sick individual who did what they did to him robbed him of. All those years of friendships, family functions and interactions, romances that never materialized, hobbies that would have been enjoyed and passionately partaken in, the possible family of his own he could have created. I seriously hope some karmic force caught up with the person who took all that away from him.

The only thing he didn't mention is that there's a lot of debate over whether the photo actually is all that ominous. A lot of people think it looks like just playing around. I know my friends and I used to tie each other up as kids and see whether we could escape, I used to be really good at it.

It's pretty likely that he was abducted in a unfortunate opportune circumstance by a human predator.

I have my doubt about the person who told Douglas to go back and change his clothes because of the poison, ivy, then that person return to found out what was taking Dougie so long you have people doing so much too little kids even family members, he sure was far out before he was told to go back and change , as if poison ivy couldn't have been closer to house rather than far away. True, I couldn't imagine a situation more horrible, heartbreaking and leaving one feeling totally helpless and frustrated not to mention feelings of guilt because even if you'd done nothing wrong im sure one would still blame oneself for various things. I lost my boy once outside his school he was 6, I was dealing with his sister 8 when I realised he was gone, I only lost him for a few minutes, less than five minutes but i was frantic in those few short moments, everything went through my mind, so to actually have a child missing for days, weeks, months even years, just the worst thing ever id imagine.
