He was so young when he passed, man. Can't believe it. I also don't think he received the credit he deserved as an actor. Wasn't even nominated for an Oscar for Goodfellas. Also loved him in Hannibal.
@Critique Everything We all got our opinions, but just look at the dude's appearance throughout the yrs, from the 70s-onward. I think the guy was batshit crazy. He was obviously being given cocktails of pharmaceuticals on top of whatever was festering in that head of his. Anyway, whatever he ended that ride.
Respect to Phil’s work but honestly him like other ppl and bands in the 60’s just took a piece of Buddy Hollys genius and made it their own and reworked it don’t believe me do a little bit of home work and see the wall sound is what buddy was already doing, Latin Tex mex drumming and precisions you here in all of of Phil’s work. Buddy was working blending orchestra , rock, R&B , And just match up their work at the end of the 50’s phils’ band the teddy bears had your typical 50’s pop band sound while buddy was already creating proto-wall sound , double tracking , tiled studio and echo chamber, the Tex mex tribal drumming something either similar our the same , proto-punk , middling with reverberation, point is he took what buddy was already doing but stayed alive to produce it and polish it . Still give credit for what he produce those are his but using buddy’s tools , like the Beatles , Rolling Stones , every band that cover I fought the law , and 70’s early 80’s punk did, point wouldn’t have a wall sound with out buddy influence period!
@@rioblanks6199 so then what you're saying is that Phil Spector was just a common thief. So was Buddy Holly, using cultural appropriation to steal from Mexicans. Get over yourself
@@seanweaver3953 He could be a Jerk but that doesn’t discount his incredible music genius. A pint size panic stricken kid who relocated to L.A. after his Fathers suicide. He was given a guitar for his Bar Mitzvah and lost himself in music! all of us have listened to many of his works. He was tormented
Phil Spector was a genius but also a pain in the ass. Anyway he wrote songs which made goosebumps on many skins.Thank you Phil for such great songs and of course the Crystals with such sweet voices!
@@SiccDeville tbf when the artist does something bad it really gives their music a massive sour undertone. R.Kelly is a great example of this, fuck that guy and his music. Although this music is by the Crystals, not Phil Spector. If he would've never been born, the Crystals would still exist
I just watched the documentary. He had just met her that night. He insisted she go to his house for a drink. He shot her in the mouth. But at trial he had no blood or gunshot residue on his hands or body. She was sitting in a chair with her bag on her shoulder like she was going to leave. His driver was outside and heard the gunshot. He went to the door and Phil opened it and supposedly said “I think I just killed somebody”. The driver called 911 and testified at trial what Phil had said at the door.
Isn't anybody here because they lived the '60s like me? I'm so happy I lived it! It was there best and worst of times however unless you lived it you'll never understand how much fun we had!
Phil Spector was amazing... So much great music came from him in the 60's He is one of the Gods of rock and roll. I grew up in the 50's to today. Let him go home.
Smarty Jonez but you could imagine that this track played in the background right when they shot Joe Pesci. Imagine his brains all over the wall slowly running down, while track ends
I think it's Harvey Philip spector and that he even added another L for Phillip later on. anyway it is like that in a book I just read on spectors life. A true talent regardless. I ❤ his music!
Was war das doch ne schöne Zeit.... schwankender Empfang.... Trotzdem ist man dabei geblieben. Das Caroline Erkennungslied wird immer noch mit Wehmut gern gehört.
Well, he walked up to me and he asked me if I wanted to dance He looked kinda nice and so I said I might take a chance When he danced he held me tight And when he walked me home that night All the stars were shining bright And then he kissed me Each time I saw him I couldn't wait to see him again I wanted to let him know that he was more than a friend I didn't know just what to do So I whispered "I love you" And he said that he loved me too And then he kissed me He kissed me in a way that I've never been kissed before He kissed me in a way that I wanna be kissed forever more I knew that he was mine so I gave him all the love that I had And one day he took me home to meet his mom and his dad Then he asked me to be his bride And always be right by his side I felt so happy I almost cried And then he kissed me Then he asked me to be his bride And always be right by his side I felt so happy I almost cried And then he kissed me And then he kissed me And then he kissed me
Incredible music from a very turbulent era and decade, Vietnam war, MLK, John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, assasinations, civil rights marches, but the music was PISSA!!!!
50 years from now young people will probably praise some of the TV shows and movies (probably not the music because most of it sucks) from our time and think "man, I wish I could have lived back then," but they won't know what it was like to endure COVID-19, wildfires, the North Korea scare, Trump (depending on your feelings/future memories of the guy), etc.
Phil Spector a creative misunderstood, flawed musical Genius consumed by his creativity. The world is a better place for his presence and musical contribution.🙌
I'm just an old (72 years) guy, but this is teenage girlfriends, secret (probably not) drinks and fast forwarding to 'Goodfellas'. Superb music! The best!_
Once at a company party at an Italian place in Atlanta, it was so crowded about Christmas time that all of us (like 30 people) had to enter through the kitchen! I thought of this song and the movie!!! Surreal.
@@janeleekeller Yeah, he's proof that a man may be immensely talented, but still be an asshole. See also Roman Polanski, Bill Cosby, Frank Sinatra, Woody Allen...
Literally, just went down this rabbit hole. I was like "who TF is this guy actually? He looks like the guy from Shameless." A show I don't even watch, so I look it up and god DAMN. Not only was he an absolute bastard, but I am now immensely interested in watching Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II. What a trip.
Erico, ever seen the scene where he walks across the street to visit the goof neighbour washing his car?! .. that’s what I’m doing to you in my head. :D Loser.
Great song by The Crystals, produced by the late Phil Spector. The awesome Wrecking Crew band along with drummer Hal Blaine that backs up with the crystals.
for us to live any other way was nuts thus thoes goody good people who work shitty jobs for bum paychecks and took the subway to work every day worried about their bills were dead and they were suckers they had no balls
@@anthonycorona2860 I heard good things about it. I did watch the restaurant scene and that scene only. But yeah every time I hear this song Adventures in Babysitting always comes to my mind.
Brutha Dnubian ; I'M ASSUMING YOU "KNOW" WHAT KIND OF "WALLS", MURDERER SPECTOR IS INVOLVED WITH "NOW"‼️ HE ALWAYS WAS, AND IS STILL, ONE SICK BASTARD❗ RIP 👼, "Lana Clarkson" 🙏 😥 JaneLee 😡 1/27/20
WHAT A SOUND!!!!!! this personifies the Wall of Sound! This track alone sums up what its all about, listen to each component, each tiny detail each instrument and its perfection! Every person who is a genius has to be a little crazy........!
I thought the Wall of Sound was more about blending groups of instruments to create clusters of sounds that all fit together so closely they were difficult to distinguish. The components of the sounds here are very difficult to isolate. There’s a kind of diminishment of instrumental detail to me, and in monaural, it all blends and melts together into a dense and unique homogeneous color. Am I wrong? Have I misunderstood Spector’s aesthetic?
