The CZ 75 decocker: can it cause an accidental discharge?

Short answer: NO.
This video was made in response to a claim, that went briefly viral, that someone used the decocker on their CZ, causing it to fire a round.
This video shows why that is mechanically unlikely. Somebody had their booger hooker on the bang switch.

I never believed that story about the gun going off. Typical when people screw up and refuse to accept responsibility. Seems to be a trend in our society along with the need for attention. Good vid.

great job without all the yadda yadda yadda saying same thing over and over unnecessarily repeating stuff to make sure you understand fully and completely what has already been covered even though the viewer can watch repeatedly or just go back to see the same thing again and again.

What if the firing pin block get stuck in the up position? Would decocking the weapon cause it to discharge?
@b0men

I still don't see how decocking would provide enough force to actually ignite.

I thought it didn't actually make contact with the firing pin, but I could be wrong. Really just looking for verification on how this works. Is that what the firing pin safety stop is?

No, because the decocker is mechanically lowered by the hammer as it goes forward, which reengages the sear to catch the half-cock notch. So even if the FPB was not working, the half-cock notch will catch the hammer.

Late answer but lemme explain. A decocker is a mechanism that drops the hammer on a DA/SA gun onto the half-cock position normally. If you rack the slide to put a round in the chamber, what you have to do is push the decocker lever with your thumb, and it'll make the (previously full cock) hammer go forward in the half-cock position. Basically reverting it back to double action with a lever alone, and double action is safer to carry than single-action. However, some people have become super good with manual safeties, and you can (and are supposed to) carry a manual safety gun cocked and locked (hammer fully back, a round in the chamber, and safety on).
