I feel like the reason why Maude was bullying Marge is because Maude eavesdropped on Homer’s story on how he got Marge pregnant and got married in Vegas. Maude is bullying Marge because she got pregnant out of wedlock!

New theory: Homer knew exactly what he was doing when he killed her.

I’d also like to add that she underlines Ned’s bible which she knows pisses him off.

She reminds me of a friend, who seems to have the perfect wife, until she completely betrayed him. After years of marriage, it turns out she had no feelings for him. He was devastated.

Never liked her, she was so 1 Dimensional and probably is responsible for how badly damaged Rodd and Todd is. Ned technically has Mental Health problems which makes him highly suspectible to being controlled by abusive people.

So...did Ned know these things about Maude before marrying her, or was she good enough at hiding the truth from him that he never noticed?

One thing I always noticed is that there seems to be very little affection between Maude and Ned most of the time she seems to be very annoyed with him I always had the feeling that she was secretly not Christian and actually "evil" as a result

Dint forget possibly cheating on Flanders with Moe.

Gotta be honest, I’ve always hated Maude. She’s always come off to me as a self obsessed judgment jerk. I’ve always preferred Mrs. Krabappel, a character beaming with character, and a perfect balance to Flanders’ strictness.

I think Maude is a very good example for people who hide their mean character behind "model citizen" camouflage. This goes together with displayed religiousness very often

Maude's death episode was VERY insulting. Maggie Roswell voiced SO MANY characters on that show -- she even did Sherri Bobbins (she has a BEAUTIFUL singing voice)! I completely understand the perspective of FOX in not wanting to incur her living/travel expenses since she was the one who decided (years after beginning work with them) to move thousands of miles away. But, she was being paid peanuts on a show that was raking in millions even back then. She deserved a greater slice of the pie for the work she did.

Isn't anyone gonna talk about 2:07 when bart made the cake say "rest in pee."

In season 6 episode 19, you can see Maude in the crowd of Lisa’s wedding. Is this not cannon, or was Maude never dead in the first place?

In the early seasons, she chewed out Marge for not joining the women of Springfield's rally when the town was announced as one of the stops for Michelangelo's David. Another one is where Marge accidentally forgot she had a bottle of bourbon due to the stress of taking care of her family who came down with the Osaka Flu, and Maude along with Helen portrayed her as a shoplifter and alcoholic. However in the end it hurt the town due to them not being able to buy a statue of Abraham Lincoln and instead buying a statue of Jimmy Carter

But isn’t there an episode where Marge is taking care of Ned’s Kids, and at the end of that episode, it shows that Maude is in Heaven, Watching over them?

But in an earlier Treehouse, Ned is the Devil. So maybe Ned was displaced (perhaps becoming a true Christian), Maude was dissatisfied, and she made a deal with the new Devil to conveniently die so she could be with him in Hell. She's just attracted to whoever is the Devil.

The only point I would refute is the sleeping position. Some people sleep in the same position. It's possible she always slept in this position. The question then is, would she sleep facing away from Ned if she was on the other side of the bed?

I do actually like this theory. There's just one question I have now. Why are Rodd and Todd so confusing? What I mean is, why do Rodd and Todd follow whatever other people tell them to do? Could there be something bigger behind the two boys' personalities to make them like that?

In thinking more about Maud, I think there’s another problem and it has to do with her sex life with Ned and could be partly why she has an issue with Marge. With the information presented, I think that she and Ned don’t have an as an active sex life as she would like. The reasoning for this is the way her imprint on the bed is not only facing towards the door(the common enter AND exit way), but also the way it was shaped. When it’s shaped like that with a curve it gives-off a sign of either misery or is a sign that their physical love life has diminished. In addition to that their extremely heavily devoted Christian-life style may also play a role in their private lives, but to what extant I’m not sure and with both of their goodie-two shoesed natures it’s not hard to see those playing roles neither. And the underlining in Ned’s bible might be her way of getting back at Ned for lack of sexual attention. As for being jealous of Marge, that might be because Homer and Marge have a more active sex life which isn’t always made silent (seriously, sometimes it’s loud enough for even the dead to hear it) which Maud could deeply envy and shows her that Marge gets more physical attention from Homer than she does from her own husband. This could also be why when she showed up as a devil, she was wearing that sexy outfit and said come back to bed as the devil was paying more attention to her than Ned did. In addition to that I also think that there were times when Maud might have been trying to get Ned more aroused that didn’t work which might’ve been another reason why she underlined his bible knowing that it would tick him off which might’ve sent him into a sexual frenzy, but sadly it didn’t. Lastly that scene with Marge in the bathroom, I think was supposed to how just how distrustful she can be, but to me it also made a suggestion that it might not only be men that she’s attracted to, but due to her goodie-goodie nature, religion, values, beliefs and highly possibly her up-bringing, Maud might be either heavily in-denial or subconsciously unaware about it. Therefor to some extant it’s possible that her little lashes out at Marge might not only be a form of deeply routed jealously, but also is a subconscious way of trying to attract her attention. So in other words, it is possible that Maud could’ve been bisexual, but was either heavily in-denial or was subconsciously unaware about it.

When watching this video, I noticed a lot of the traits Maud Flanders was described as were similar to the traits of many neighbors I have irl. So... does this mean The Simpsons predicted Karens and their deaths by other stupid people like Homer? XD After Maud died, Ned married Edna, then Edna died. Poor Ned.

My theory, maude hated ned, so she faked her death and masterminded the theft of the kwik e mart, framing both krusty and bob, before going incognito and becoming the master vandalist el Barto, as a way to get revenge on homer for staring down her dress and destroying her house by pinning it all on bart by using a moniker that sounds deceptively similar

Congrats on 90K! This is a great growing channel. Also, I think that Ned and Maude's relationship was shown a little unstable during one of the earlier seasons. It was the scene where Homer was drunk and asked Maude to get him some peanuts. It looked like Maude knew what Homer really wanted, and she smiled at him.

Love your channel, I think you should do a video about how Bart is Springfield`s MVP in their ever lasting quest to find their claim to fame. Every time Bart plays sport he is super talented than anyone else whether be Ice Hockey, Tennis, Baseball, etc, I think it would be really cool if you did a video further explaining this as most small American towns are only really remember for their sport team and their star player aka Bart Simpson.

The creators were kind of asses for what it, but you’ve got to admit that killing the actresses most popular character in the most underwhelming way possible whilst also insulting them, is one hell of a power play.

It's as I always say: The Devil enters the church first

And on her statue in the Praiseland episode her plaque read “She taught us the joy of shame and the shame of joy” I’m not the smartest person out there, but that definitely does not seem like something normal that people would put on a memorial. It instead feels more like she was kind of brainwashing her family. I mean we honestly didn’t see Ned, Rod and Todd’s behavior change greatly until after she was gone. She clearly had a strong hold on them all mentally. Also what if “Praiseland” was not intended to praise the lord. What if it was Maude’s work around? Getting compliments by making an amusement park that centers around religion, that definitely is praise worthy and if she wanted to that when she was alive…. Then she was definitely interested in the attention she would have gained.

This reminds me of that one really serious moment in the episode Maud died, where Ned didn't want to go to church. That was him realising that despite his entire life of devotion, there was nothing up there watching him, and even if there was, he didn't give a shit for Maud, let alone Flanders. In that little cut, he was about to be a better man, and grow.

One thing that got me was her makeup, she's then only character to noticeably to where make up, and why and Christian women would pack it on.

There is One good thing in a character like Maude: she is a perfect example of religious fanatisicm I'm not gonna argue on how this sort of cult-people happen,anyone knows that but it' important to have these sorts of characters (Maude, Father Andersson from Hellsign, Kevin from Welcome to Night Vale etc) to show people what happens when religion goes to far.

Wow you made me hate a character I never cared for that's impressive. I am now glad that maude is no longer in the show.

Wait hang on, why did Maud Flanders die? They didn't need to kill her off. Because in a newer episode, there was a flashback when they went to the Grand Canyon. and she was there, sounding exactly the same, so maybe Matt Groening wanted to experiment, and have a single dad in the show. And I'm not counting Kirk because him and Luan got married again in the show.

When I watched it as a kid I always had a feeling she was evil and some bad stuff happened a little too conveniently for evil her
