To me; Pokémon died when they stopped programming all existing Pokémon into their games for the (pretty much false) promise that their games would have better looking graphics and animations, just for all of them to turn out embarrassingly bad anyway... Pokémon lied to us.
The sad thing is. I could see the possibility that ironically, they were RIGHT. Just, they had so much they needed to do to meet the timetable, that it could have wound up even worse than it was . Just, when they made the cut and said it's for graphics, and the improvements if any, still is that bad.... Yeah, it just rings hollow when the graphics felt bad anyway.😅
One of the worst things about the Pokemon fandom is that they need these ridiculous "disclaimers" from content creators about how they really do love Pokemon before they'll listen to any criticism. I have never seen it from another fandom that I'm a part of. But then again, I've also never seen a fandom so eager to eat up a turd with the franchise's logo on it, either. It's embarrassing.
Because they know they will get cannibalized if they don't. It's probably the same reason u don't see many poketubers specifically, playing or acknowledging Palworld. The pokemon community is like a cult where they blindly praise the series and demonize the people who want better or criticize the franchise.
Yeah its rather funny how the pokemon fandom works. "Gamefreak releases a new pile of Trash" Quick buy 2 copies of the same game! Throw money at them give them all your money! Not even reviews yet? Its pokemon it needs all of our money! Later on "hey guys remember when that pokemon game was terrible? haha yeah its great that after we've given Gamefreak hundreds of dollars we all get to say the game is bad now when its a few years old, but the next game is great and everything about it is perfect and we need to give them money again" times as many times as Gamefreak seems to want. No matter how bad it is. I still love pokemon just all the games are trash but I will still give them my money anyway and then sometimes say "Unpopular opinion, I liked sword and shield come at me bro"
@@Goremize Of course the series will have certain games that aren't as big a 'Hit' as others: everyone has their favourites too. But generally this Oldskool > Newskool prerogative is _so_ whack and the _laziest_ of opinionated demographics, honestly. BDSP was objectively a step backwards, while SV were ambitious but executed poorly aside from the 3D Pokémon models etc. But they _nearly all_ sold well, so it's just choice.
I think Palworld was a good thing to hit the pokemon company in the face, their official letter was clear jealousy, and it goes to show that you can polish a game, bring it out, and people will be satisfied with it. While competative pokemon is still ongoing, game freak really need to address the consumers who want to buy a game because it's good, not because it's nostalgic or has the gimmicks they can use to continue arranging tournaments.
Generation 2 is without doubt the best generation in terms of innovation. Just like you mentioned in your video: The list goes on and on and on. And this is the problem: Instead of expanding each new generation with new and also the old stuff, the old mechanics just get scrapped. No more visiting the old regions. No underwater exploration. No more underground. Again: The list goes on and on and on. The "Dexit" and all the lazy excuses were the reasons why I skipped Sword/Shield. Legends Arceus was alright, because it felt new and fresh, despite being subpar at many other fronts (story, graphics and so on). The early nail in the coffin for me when playing Violet was, that they scrapped the ambush mechanic from Legends Arceus, which was the best addition to the franchise ever (capturing Pokémon without fighting them. I barely finished the tutorial of Violet, and gave up on the game after the whole school introduction. Palworld gives me, as a player, so many things I want from a Pokémon game. More action, more exploration, just more stuff to do. It's just the freedom of choice I always wanted: Craft your own experience. Meanwhile whenever I answer "No" in a Pokémon game it either has no impact or it leads into an endless loop of "You gotta say Yes, if you want to progress". Gamefreak showed multiple times, that they can't handle this IP anymore. Just imagine what kind of open world game a studio like Capcom (Monster Hunter) or Monolith Soft (Xenoblade Chronicles) could make. Imagine. A part of me wants to see the Pokémon franchise thrive. I want so see new and exciting games, with meaningful choices, an interesting story and an end of almost three decades of this "action button simulator". But another part of me just wants to see this franchise burn. This part of me eagerly awaits the next big announcement, which will look like hot, steaming garbage (oce more again). And this part of me wants to see, how people keep comparing this multi-billion dollar franchise with the small indi scale of Palworld, and how Palworld does so many things so much better. Despite all the backlash, despite the negative reviews and despite people calling for boycott: The games keep selling well. There IS a little light on the horizon though: VGC editor Andy Robinson said on Twitter, he heard about possible improvements for future Pokémon games due to the harsh critic Scarlet/Violet received. But again: Pulling this car out of the mud requires a lot of time and work. And both aren't Gamefreaks strong suit.
I mean, at this point, Gamefreak should care less about Palworld offers considering the stans of the Pokemon community continues to prove why Pokemon continues to sell well and grow regardless of the outcry. We’ve already seen it with Sword and Shield, then Scarlet and Violet. But I’m shocked they’re starting to care now over a indie studio making a good Pokemon meets Ark game, except who knows if they actually kept their word when they announce they’re planning to put more care in their games. Only time will tell.

Very solid presentation of information. I'm always happy to see new channels release videos that really do their research. I definitely lean more towards the likelihood that The Pokemon Company only released that statement to stop users from contacting them about it. Similar to one of those automated responses, "Thank you for contacting ----. We understand your concern and our team is currently investigating the issue." They are very aware of the game, and know the legal system involving their game better than anyone else, but they are also aware that nothing was infringed upon enough for them to take any legal action. (Unlike a romhack that calls itself Pokemon [ ], or a game that is clearly just a modded/edited copy of Pokemon) It has some similar mechanics (catching little monsters in sphere-like objects and releasing them to both fight and mine materials; Like Legends: Arceus) and some of the Pals are pretty inspired by Pokemon designs, but they would fall more into Parody than Infringement. (Note: I am not familiar with the law in any way, shape, or form.. so this is mostly conjecture. If someone knows better than me, please go ahead and let me know if I'm wrong about something)
@@JoeyParksHerethat's not a Pokémon exclusive problem but with gaming as a whole. SV is a technological step forward gameplay wise but severely damaged by it's performance at launch and after the patches is only a bit better. This is the first Pokémon game that has got me hooked enough to actually fill out the Pokédex which is crazy for me. The game is fun and he's the best story since black and white but Pokémon company needs to give the Devs more time. It's clear game freak still has passion but that means nothing when they only have a single year to push out games. That was acceptable back when the games were 2D but now it's just not possible to make 3D Pokémon games with the polish of the 2D games like HG/SS Pl and emerald.

It had some extremely minor patches and the game is still in an embarrassing state What gameplay steps forward are you talking about exactly? @@JoeyParksHere the open world it's the best step forward for Pokémon to take to the world. It's not perfect and leaves alot to be desired but it's actually fun. It falls off as you unlock all of the box legendarys upgrades which skips all the interesting locations and paths you would miss otherwise by just climbing up mountains. And the cities are some of the best looks wise for a long time and have an actual decent size but the lack of interiors brings it down as well but I like the way they look. Also it is a step forward technically just compare it to sword and shield it's leagues above but lacks in other areas just like sword and shield in rendering but the open world is far better than the pathetic wild area of sword and shield and the areas are more memorable and enjoyable to explore that the areas in in legends arceus. Performance, graphics and rendering wise it's lacking. If the game released with no lag I bet people would have been calling this game one of the best. I never played during release just watched videos but from playing now it's alot better than sword and shield but not as good as ultra sun and moon.

How did it get to that point? XY had already killed route desing, & FRLG was the 1st game where a glimpse of Dexit could be seen, as you can't evolve Golbat into Crobat before the post game.

What Palworld did was basically offer an actually great Pokémon-like alternative for PC, I mean there were other Pokémon-like games and a few were pretty good albeit short or not as polished as Palworld, but at the end of the day Palworld's success comes from the fact there was a huge niche open on PC gaming; The many players that had formerly played Pokémon for a multitude of years who then swapped to PC gaming (myself included, since many years by now) It just does not feel worth it to buy a console if you'll only do it for one franchise that you're not even that satisfied to begin with, and now Palworld gave me a bigger reason to not care. I do still play Pokémon games, but they are mostly fanmade games such as PokeOne or PokeMMO (and the Pixelmon mod for Minecraft, if that counts), with the only official Pokémon product that I touch now being Pokémon Go on rare occasions.
What do I want? I want "pokemon world" where you can literally travel to every part of the world that we know of to-date and maybe even have hints at new regions not yet released. I KNOW they have the capability to do something like that. They dont even *need* to make every single location accessible. Just being able to go around the entire world would be mind blowing...
Agreed, I would even take a downgrade to Emerald level graphics 2D sprites for that, and I would love to see multiple bad guy interactions and even accept if we just couldn't get old mythicals
They don't even have to do it all at once. Just add one region at a time so that they have enough time to polish it, and also have players excited for the next region to be added. To make it easier, make it 2D. Gen 4/5 2D sprites still look great. Unfortunately, I could only see that happening in a very ambitious romhack that would never be completed.

Is the switch really a "Home Console," It has the chip rumored for the vita 2 and is technically less powerful than the WiiU. It has a way easier to code for architecture, but less flops. Nintendo even instructs things to be coded primarily for handheld mode.

You know it really annoys me whenever there’s complaints about Pokémon, it always seems to be about the games, never the anime or movies. They seem to get away with a lot of things it seems. At least in my eyes anyway.

The "pokemon like" designs are actually a huge draw for me because to me they are less so, "rip offs" and more reminiscent of classic Ken Sugimori artstyle with alot of pals sporting simplistic yet iconic designs.
I love the Ken designs and its why i liked the manga SO MUCH they kept to his art direction all the way into XY. Still havent seen the SM manga though.
Its funny how 14 years ago we got black and white, and that was the last good pokemon game they made. Not one has been good on the Switch. And I wish it wasn't "Black and white" I wish it was just ONE version of the same game. They got away with 2 copies of the same game and 2 copies of the same dlc for too long. Pokemon should have lost out on revenue years ago, 2 things would have happened, either pokemon would be dropped or they would actually have to make something decent.
The ironic part is how Black and White was the era where Pokémon was losing out the most in revenue, and back then, lots of established fans saw those games as either the bottom of the barrel for Pokémon, or the start of Pokémon's downfall.
@@Garde_Mystik Oh yeah I know. Probably because it was just them copy/pasting a formula they already knew worked again and again. It was a good game but indeed was the start of pokemon's downfall as we just got used to lower quality over time. So it seems better now because anything is better then dirt. I still don't really understand why they didn't put more effort into their games. If pokemon actually made good games, surely they realise they could make a lot more money off everyone, instead of just the people who give them money no matter what they make
11:12 - except... Scarlet and Violet and Legends Arceus both exist, which have so much effort put into them. The biggest issue with SV is the technical issues and that's a time issue, not an effort one. Honestly I think the whole dexit thing was blown out of proportion, quite frankly the dex cut was inevitable, I don't think Game Freak handled it the best but it was going to happen eventually especially now that there are over 1000 Pokemon, it's just not feasible to include them all in every single game. And regarding Palworld I think aesthetically it is similar to Pokemon but in terms of gameplay it is VERY different.
What if only 8 Regions existed in the Pokemon franchise? And they came out together in 1996 as Gen 1's version-exclusives? Each with 250-unique Pokemon. Each with 8 Badges. All Regions share the same Pokemon League on Mt. Silver where every Protagonist get to battle each other to become the world's first Champion. And after that, what if every 5 years, a sequel Gen came out on a new hardware? With 5-year timeskips, new forms like Variants and Megas, some Trainers were promoted or retired, and new protagonists beating the current Champions(previous protagonists) to be their successors. And transfers between Gens(with GB and GBA being compatible). Imagine growing up with altered memories in that parallel universe. How'd the Pokemon franchise have looked like? What would've changed about it, how well would it be recieved, and how'd the Anime be written(with Shudo Takeshi as chief writer and without his executives meddling)?

Palworld is a beacon of creativity compared to Pokémon. Modern Pokémon is so void of creativity, ambition, and aspiration that I bet deadbeat, drunk fathers who abandoned their children probably look at it and go, “wow that’s lacking ambition.” Also PETA games are hardly games, it’s basically just propaganda with a Pokémon skin on it. for me it was the numerous times I got burned waiting for a "Definitive extended versions" IE Crystal emerald platinum edition and having them not come. they didn't do it for a few games and I was missing out so when I could save up and get enough time I got moon only to hear later on that the "ultra" games were happening yeah I put the series away for good after that.

Pokemon has grown complacant at the top, leading them to releasing them more & more unfinished as the years went by , Palworld may be a clunky survival game but hope it will make tpc & gf step up their game, or inspire others to make creature catchers
@toottootsonicwarrior5777 Just by continuing doing what they are doing. Improving graphics while keeping the same overall style, improving textures, writing good stories, etc. Breaking the mold works for a game like PLA. And I think doing things like that is great. But, the traditional concept simply needs to remain, and relatively unchanged. I wouldn't be mad if Pokemon created a base building game. But, if they did, I would want it to be more like mystery dungeon meets animal crossing. Not Palworld. And I wouldn't want it to be a mainline game.

Your theory at the end doesn't really work because releasing on console there will always be a ceiling to total sales, i.e. you will run out of people to sell to as a function of total console sales, which they don't control. Palworld being on PC (and Xbox) allows for far more growth due to having nearly limitless potential for sales. So the sales/popularity of Palworld can (and likely will) be brushed off by them as unimportant. Only saying this because you brought up sales, but probably should've waited a day to upload tho homie, since literally a few hours after this vid was uploaded the Nintendo sales report dropped. From that we saw SV still isn't slowing in the sales department, about to pass SwSh. It's also the 4th fastest selling title on the Switch, and it's unlikely to ever pass the other franchises even if they make a perfect Pokemon game (Mario Kart and Smash will always be more popular games). Basically everything in that sales report tells us far more about the future than anything Palworld related, so I highly recommend looking into that. And hey, while I personally hope they don't make another Legends game because I disliked it, I hope they make another one just for you lol
I’m not exactly sure what you’re trying to say lol. A game doesn’t sell as well / have as many people playing it as Palworld just because it’s available on multiple consoles/platforms. Sure, it can help but that’s not the main reason for it’s success. And yeah, it’s not a theory that I’m putting a lot of stock in; that’s why I worded it as “hope for the future.” A hope that Palworld’s success (which stems from it being an actually fun Pokémon esque game, I would say) can inspire gamefreak/the Pokémon company to put more care into making their games fun. It could show them that sales could be even higher if people largely thought the games were good, or at least respected them S/V selling well was never in any sort of contention lol. It was very clearly going to sell millions and millions from the get-go. Honestly, if the next Legends game isn’t significantly, significantly better than Arceus I could take it or leave it. ...Im gonna go ahead and pause this videoc zu i see now why the dislike ratio is that big Heres a list of shit u said that i just flat out dont agree with "Gen 3 postgame pales in comparison to Gen 2." Gen 3 is loved not just cuz of the battle frontier, but because its generation (which does include FR/LG) shows what competitive battling TRULY MEANS from how the frontier operated. There are so many avenues of how to approach a battle and it was introduced and introduced very well from Gen 3. Gen 4 and onward soldified it by simply introducing the phys/special split. but the foruma itself was still the same as it was from Gen 3. Gen 3 also has one of the best DLCs. Each one is quick to the point but still feels unique, not just some guy at a shop saying "heres a pokemon" Im going to assume majority of the dislikes came from this alone Everything else is fine
