Scrappy Scavengers is Klei’s first hybrid QOL and content update. I’ll just get this out there right away - this new format for updates is great. Having content released but still with janky mechanics needing tending to, or the opposite - quality of life patches released for the game but without any substantial content: both left the game felt lacking in various areas. QOL updates by themselves don’t really add any playtime or anything to check out, so combining the two formats together, alongside lowering the overall amount of updates, makes each update more of an event, and a significant addition to the game.

thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed CORRECTIONS: CC doesn't have a 20 day cooldown like most other bosses - you still need to build the Siphonator each time. I think the frostjaw is a normal rock jaw influenced by the moon. The moon seems to have an association with frost, between the Pengulls, deerclops and vargs being imbued with stronger cold attacks, and moon glass probably being more like special ice rather than normal glass (it's always formed from crystalized water).

Also the "Idk what they're called so imma say shadow?" is associated with heat (various "shadow" flames is pretty much all that's there), so here's hoping for a shadow enhanced dragonfly :)

I really love the Nightmare Werepig fight because it involves a lot of movement and you run towards the boss to bait out and dodge attacks, the Scrappy Werepig fight actively avoids this by adding fences that limit movement and adding scrap piles that you can’t walk through. Also as someone who is getting into cave basing myself I really like the acid rain mechanic personally, adds something to the feel of the world imo.

Started a new long term world for this update and I have to agree with the fact that they tease wobot to you early game, I was super excited to see that we got the little guy only to know it’s post CC content. It’s not a huge worry for us though since we are now rushing CC to get wobot 😅

His main drop is the Auto-Mat-O-Chanic to repair w.o.b.o.t., which makes him more useful than if you consider he's there for the expandinator

Conveniently, I fought the scrappy werepig recently, they're actually neutral. That is until you either dig through their trash or attack them first.

I’m really hoping that the next Daywalker encounter (I think they said there’ll be more) has some SERIOUS loot behind it, because the Horizon Expandinator and Shield-Hat thing are… junk. I guess it makes sense for the junk-themed boss…

Correction to Celestial Champion: You don't need to fight it every 20 days because you can start the fight anytime as long as you got enough resources. Never had to wait, just used to cost a lot more effort before.

You didn't mention that acid rain now effects more mobs other than bats, like clockwork enemies getting weaker and depths worms getting a damage and speed increase.

Him having an actual story in the game is interesting. I feel like they will give him a third part eventually. Hopefully, we can cure him to get more pig buildings. Like hamlet. He could even be Wilba's father.

CC has no cooldowm and you can kill it indefinitely as long as you have proper materials. So it's NOT that boring or something especially with the moonstorm QOL improvement.

Also, the ice tiles' slippery effect has a fixed required distance moved to trigger it, and you can prevent falling down by stop moving temporarily when the character wobbles. Shame you missed so many details.

the ice is still unavoidable at times since you may have to keep walking to avoid the boss' attack. during a boss fight you generally can't stand still on a whim and be safe

It's worth mentioning that console can't zoom out, and mods should never be an argument on what to add or not add to the game. It's still a shame that the werepig's drops are doodoo garbage.

The sharkboi slippery mechanic is not RNG, the higher your speed and the longer you move the more you will slip in other words you need to do short and precice moves and you will never slip its a cool mechanic since it forces you to dodge in time instead of just running around frantically Also the scrappy werepig isnt boring you dont need to hide behind scrap the entire fight you know just go back and forth with him and hide when the time is right Lastly the horizon expandinator... You said its something that can be done with mods... What kind of argument is that ? By that logic we dont need QOL cause we already have them through mods, and why do we need new armour sets and weapons since mods add more weapons anyway... That's a dumb argument

The slippery ice isn't rng unless you have speed boost items equipped, it's honestly nice to see a boss where it isn't super important to have speed boosts Also Celestial Champion isn't a 20 day wait, unlike most bosses you can fight them as many times as you have resources for

Also you can avoid slipping by letting go of movement keys while sliding and you won’t fall over

The scrappy werepig has loads of attacks and can be very unpredictable and a very challenging fight depending on your current progress. Sure you can just sit behind the junk wall and play it safe but you won't get many hits in as you need to cover more distance to get to him but play it risky and dodge the attacks perfectly and you can counterattack with a flurry of blows. Awesome design. You complain that you have to MOVE during a bossfight?? Do you want every fight to be a treeguard where you hit a few times dodge repeat? Unreal. Another trash take from a dst youtuber with bad opinions and good production quality videos. Also assuming everyone plays with mods or can even access mods as a reason to say his drop is underwhelming, is in poor taste. The item is unique. If you want to use mods then more power to you. Just deconstruct it for more scrap. I keep having to edit my comment with new things that piss me off about this video. Imagine thinking that spawning the final boss for it's reward is tedious... DUDE, the rewards are the best in the game and the fight is easily restartable after all the prerequisites are met. They even made the moonstorm event easier and only require 1 static from wagstaff to build the siphonator. The game at its core is about resource management and efficiency. Why the hell are you even playing if you don't find it fun to do the set challenges in the game? Maybe play the game instead of spawning things in with commands for video footage? Both you and beard nonstop complain and ironically you're the ones who have the least real gameplay. Get a grip
