I just came across your videos after doing days and days of research to freshin up before getting our 1st hamster. The way you explain things is very easy to understand. I have learned SO much. Even after watching super popular videos, your videos are much more detailed to the species. If there's 1 thing I've learned, species matter for things like diet and housing. So this is Really helping me.

ive had my hamster for exactly a year today and this whole time ive been trying so hard to figure out weather shes a winter white or campbell and this is the closest ive gotten to my answer and the most information so thank you so much!!🥰🥰🥰

I have a hybrid dwarf hamster (rescued) and I've always been curious if he was more winter white or more cambells dwarf. It seems like he is more winter white. Thank you for making this video! 😊

I'm surprised you seem like a genuinely super kind and positive person. The hamster's in your videos are so cute, and I was thinking of getting a Winter white as my second hamster eventually. (Just got my first and it's a Roborovski *absolutely adore him* and he is making me fall in love with hamsters in general). So seeing what I can learn from you about the winter whites, and so far it has been quite interesting. Thank you.

Yeah I think mine's a hybrid. He has round eyes but thicker line in his back and he's rare coloured. He is Black Silvering Mottled Dwarf.

Thank you for the descriptions. I adopted two dwarves from a rescue a couple months ago. I knew they were hybrids, but thought the female was stronger winter white and the male more Campbells based on what I had read. After you description, I feel confirmed since the female is various shades of grey with a dark dorsal stripe, buggy eyes, rounder body (she is not as round as your hamsters or winter whites on KumaQQ's channel). The male is tan, less prominent dorsal stripe and more oval eyes.

I got a winter white today and she was super friendly immediately. I let her smell me and she started climbing my forearm 😅. She hasn’t bite me yet I’m hoping she never does haha

Hi, just wondering what the weight of a hybrid winter white dwarf hamster should be? Mine is 56g and has remained the same weight for over 7 months now. He has no health problems, and is still active. However he is much less active than when he was young (less time spent running on wheel). He is now 1yr7mo and he started becoming less active 1yr3mo so I can't tell if it's due to age or he's obese.

I have a hamster who looks like she's definitely a campbells dwarf. She has bright red eyes and a stark white coat with no markings, and I was wondering if she's albino? She's never changed colors. Just not sure if she's just a white ham with red eyes, or if she truly is albino!

I've heard they really don't make much money off the actual animals at the pet stores and animals are just there in order to help sell the products (not sure how true that is). I think it would be almost impossible to get them to stop breeding/selling unfortunately. The number of breeders on the "ethical" breeder list people are referred to is quite short. Pet chain store's hamsters are cheap, no wait time and no screening process.

Thanks for sharing this!! I’ve actually heard this too! It’s very possible this is the case! I was talking to my mom the other day regarding hamsters at pet stores pricing compared to our ethically bred hamsters pricing and she couldn’t believe someone would pay $75 for a hamster instead of going to a pet store and getting on for $15 and I think that’s exactly it. If we don’t understand the problem, this whole ethical breeder thing seems outrageous and stupid haha but it’s SO misunderstood, or misrepresented (by backyard breeders). I hopeful with social media, more and more people will begin ethical hamsteries!! 🤍

I’m not sure but I have heard some Campbells average an inch or so longer than winter whites in length which could make winter whites appear more rounder but I’ve not personally held or seen a purebred Campbell so I’m not certain but still ✨🥰 so cute! 🙌

She went to the UK bc there are no pure bred dwarf hamsters exist in the US.

A dog (Canis lupus familiaris) is an artificial subspecies of the grey wolf (Canis lupus) . They aren't different species.

You actually totally can, I can understand your reservations becuase there are definitely cases where that would be unethical. If you wanna read more on ethical breeding you can visit the CHA’s website - California’s Hamster Association - to read up on ethical breeding code. ✨❤️ Hope this helps!
