You know what I realized after this topic was brought up. In a lot of these kids movies with bureaucracies to explain magical/mythical elements. The protagonists are the mostly the rebels or the outcast of the systems, but they eventually learn to work with the system and the characters in charge of the system. What if those stories are telling kids that they can rebel or feel an outcast of the system, but eventually they have to work with the system to be a functioning member of society. Discouraging one’s individuality and independency.
That’s a great point! They eventually learn the system is great. At best, they learn to create a compromise so it’s a little bit nicer, but rarely do they ever do away with it completely
Wow, that's a very insightful and depressing way to think of how children learn and comprehend the rules of bureaucracy and capitalism and order at sucha young age.
So happy to see Doc's MOM introduced to the masses once again. His MOM has been missed, and deserves to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. I enjoyed Doc's MOM twice today, so far.
Funny thing is those bureaucracies in kids movies and shows (like Fairly Odd Parents, Ben 10, Justice League Unlimited, etc.) Are shown as very powerful where you have to outsmart the rules, or join it rather than being something that has a system of redress, appeal, or even a reason to really exist. After all the government in Justice League just makes things harder on the JLI, the Plumbers were putting a damper on Ben 10 (until he joins them) and he still spends more time fighting against regulations than actively working with them. It's almost like it's teaching rules are to be followed no matter what, and spending time asking why, wanting an explanation, or even attempting to change rules ultimately leads to bigger problems.
I like how you've respun the office banter style of the past. 😉 Having multiples of yourself is brilliant! And then you can also throw an occasional guest spot in there as a surprise. 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this - yay! But I also could not stop trying to sinc up the color changing humidifier with each cut back - ha! Didn’t keep me from lovin’ the vid though!
Oh God this made me realize in the multiverse I wouldn't be the cool hero variant, I'd absolutely be the variant that works at a desk and has to explain everything.
It’s so nice Cracked didn’t retain the character rights to @DrJordanBreeding. Cause I love that guy, and those clowns wouldn’t know what to do with him. Lorne Michaels should buy him and make an $8million dollar movie with him that earns $22million at the box office, which is just enough to justify a sequel cause I really want multiple explorations of what makes this guy tick.
I just finished watching the latest antman movie with my partner, and the usual post-movie chat somehow led to me ranting about loki and why the very few marvel narratives that remind me of a decent drug binge are genuinely enjoyable in spite of the weird dominating presence of some mind-numbing buerocracy circa 1950's americana lol. Perfect timing, as ever, good doctor. 👌👌
@@Drjordanbreeding It's a pretty good one! Hey man, just wanted to say that the Roger skits on Cracked haven't been the same since you parted ways. Your jokes are what made it that much better.
@@Jumpyfoot I haven’t really been watching, but I appreciate you saying that! I used to really heavily edit every script and run them by Jack just to try and make them as goofy as possible.
Thank you Doc Jordan and your creative team for another great video. Thank you for dropping the "e" from the end of my last name. #DrJordanBreedingRocks
I'm watching this drunk at 8 am (I can quit whenever I want!), and I'm confused. Are you telling me that the Tooth Fairy isn't real? Then who was that dude in my room last month dressed in a pink fairy dress offering me money for my teeth?
"Mildly love-ed" is a bit reductive, I think it's more like "soon to be adequately appreciated and love-ed" . I workshoped this for a few minutes... and it still sounds a bit like a strange, vague threat... sorry?
Look, great video and all, but you were a little heavy handed on the evils of bureaucracy using a scent mister in that version of the office. Truly insidious behavior, just mocking the viewers' intelligence.
